MixedDrink Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^ The track is usually painted at the factory, and then erected. It's a shadow of something, can't figure out what though.
PKI Jizzman Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 74*, oh well. I just was looking at the T-Express pictures and seeing how steep I think it was...77*? That looked freaking awesome, so Diamondback shouldn't be too far from it. As far as steepness, not T-Express awesome! -JZ
Thom25 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^ I think it's all awesome. When I ride RoS and MF, I can't tell that much of a difference. For me anyway, they both feel like you basically going straight down. It's the length of MF's drop that makes it so exceptional, along with the 80 degrees - I know - lol It's the airtime hills that are getting me excited. They easily look as good as Nitro, and think they could produce some ejector air (one can hope).
coolhandluke Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^ and ^^ I agree with the angle thing, I don't really notice a difference that minute until you reach that 90+ degree area (those 5 degrees on Maverick make a big difference IMO). I'm thinking the drop directly over Deathbat: TR's outdoor queue is pretty cool as well. Sure, it may take away an extra 7-10 ft off the drop, but looking down over people (or where people could hypothetically be) will be pretty sweet (and that small of a drop difference is like a 4* drop difference).
alpengeist04 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^^I wouldn't count on the ejector air, but Diamondback should at least be as good as Nitro. Though we won't know for sure until we ride it.
ajm1240 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I am completely smitten with what I've seen of Diamondback so far. These types of coasters are my faves.
DiSab Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 It's a shadow of something, can't figure out what though. It looks to me like the shadow is from DarkBox: The Ride.
coasterfreak101 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I hope to God this thing's better than Nitro. Looking at Behemoth, it looks like that train flies over those airtime hills, and I'm hoping that this isn't too much different than that. If this is another Nitro...blech. Still, the thing looks massive. Period. I don't think anyone can argue with that.
MixedDrink Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^ I hope to god it's better than Behemoth, Behemoth was amazing, another step up and I am for sure going out of my way to ride it.

DiSab Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Mmmmm... Great pics guys. Can't wait for them to finish the lift so we can see how big this is gonna be.
jamesdillaman Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 You can already see a support and a little bit of the track from the interstate in front of KI (I drove by this afternoon), and it's going to be a lot taller! This will really change the skyline on that side of the park... -James Dillaman
MixedDrink Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 This thing is looking more and more awesome by the day! Can't wait to get to KI. - Basil

ECZenith Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Diamondback is coming up quick, I'm definately making a trip out to Ohio next year. I still haven't been on Maverick and the fact that a new B&M is coming up at KI doesn't hurt.
PhantomNick Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Looking really good so far. That is a pretty steep lift hill they're putting up, especially for a B&M. I'm thinking D-back will be the Must-Ride of 2009, much like RFII was this year.
DarkStitch626 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I am digging the whole color scheme of this ride though what is seriously up with most B&M being either red or blue these days? I mean seriously. Dive coaster- Red & Yellow. Griffon- Blue and blue Diamondback- red and yellow. Sheikra- Red and blue (well most of BGA now lol what 5 rides?) The next B&M Dive machine that's track is sitting at the plant. The layout is really shaping up to be stellar also.
MixedDrink Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 ^Well Behemoth is Yellow and Orange.. and blue. But I guess its because its easy. It works doesn't it?
DarkStitch626 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 ^Well Behemoth is Yellow and Orange..and blue. But I guess its because its easy. It works doesn't it? Yea I know it works and all. My only question is what are all these parks thinking when it comes to colors? I guess one would mostly ponder that about Heide park and the "Green and white" land lol. Seriously though I can't wait to see this ride testing. I mean seeing a dive machine pull off the splash zone is one thing. Seeing a hyper going 40 or so through that is going to look pretty neat. I'd in future time like to see a banked S-curve through a splash zone to create a zig-zag, slithering motion where the water is scooped by 1 side first to create a visual impact.
coolhandluke Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 ^I don't think KI chooses the colors of their rides based on what Chimelong Paradise or Busch Gardens Tamprica choose for their rides...up to 4 years removed between release dates too. Now if KI was pulling a Cedar Point and coloring all of their own rides the same color (like red...) or naming all their rides with the same starting letter (M...), that could be something a little more strange. I still love this lift hill. And the sloped final brakes. And those are the two most boring parts of a ride typically...
yankees15 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 ^^That is actually a really great concept! I would love to see that in the future. Great progress so far on Diamondback, it's starting to shape up.
MixedDrink Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 ^^^ I agree, that would create a much better experience than.. a straight section of track. It would also create a unique visual impact. Email B&M, stat!
PKI Jizzman Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 The lift hill is going up up up! Tons of lift pieces in the lot; including the drop...it's going to be VERY sudden! You won't know it's coming!!!

The next B&M Dive machine that's track is sitting at the plant. The layout is really shaping up to be stellar also. Don't forget,it's up to the parks to determine the color scheme of the finished ride, not B&M...the factory simply paints the track & structure in the requested colors as ordered by the customer. Dominator recieved a nice new coat of orange & blue this year to replace the original yellow & blue of the SF era so Behemoth wasn't the only one.Still why did KI select the SAME shade of red used on Firehawk?
