Solid Gold Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 GIB's are a damn fine ride ...Vekoma is the king of Mediocrity.
walibi owner Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 all Vekoma's in Heide Park are good..!!!
Myself Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 No love for Idlewild's Wild Mouse? I don't really have much experience with Vekoma other than that, and I really like it...it's arguably the best Wild Mouse you can find.
NathP Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 My favorite Vekoma is probably Milllenium Coaster at Fantasy Island, nice and smooth!
odene497 Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I still haven't been on an inverted boomerang or a giant inverted boomerang, but I quite like the flying dutchmen rides. Sure, they don't feel like flying when you're bouncing all over, but those rides have some pretty cool maneuvers. And I really don't mind a decent SLC. I've ridden my share of dreadful ones, but a smooth one is really an excellent ride.
jordanthejordan Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 deja vu by far. or rock n' roller coaster at disneyworld

LoopLover Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 VELOCITY (Hold on tight) at Flamingoland UK! It has a nice layout!
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 A way tie between Aftershock, RRC, and Expedition Everest.
WildStangAlex Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Definitely Deja Vu at Great America. Unfortunately it is no longer with us, so the next up would be Expedition Everest.
HappyEisentrout Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Any of the FlyingDutchmen, Firehawk is my favorite though
redfoot12 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Gotta go with Batwing and Deja Vu (the one at SFoG). I loved Expedition Everest and Rock N Roller Coaster too but I can't really count them as favorite Vekomas because Disney probably had more control over those than Vekoma did.
Ed Farmer Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Never really had a problem with Vekoma. The GIBs (and while less thrilling, Invertigos) are excellent. I also really dig SFoG's Ninja. I think the thing with Vekoma is that their mediocre boomerang and SLC models are everywhere. You can get away with that if you're cloning the epitome of inverted coasters (Batman: The Ride), but even then you get "been there, done that" reactions from well-traveled riders. Do it to a mediocre coaster (afore-mentioned SLC/Boomerang) and you'll see those same riders either altogether pass the coaster up, or ride it just for a credit (never understood that) and then complain about it. In the end, it will all boil down to personal preference. There are coasters I enjoy that others would ride once and never look back (Iron Wolf, SFGAm) and there are those that I don't understand all the fuss about (Kraken, SWO or B&M's Superman flyers) that are viewed as outstanding.
Werner Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I would have to say Stunt Fall in Parque Warner Madrid, and The Rock&Rollercoaster @ DLRP... but that's more because of the sound and lights effects... R&RC in WDW didn't have the 'WOW'-factor for me...
GwaziBSRider1 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I've ridden several different Vekoma models, but I have to say that the Flying Dutchmans are the best of them all. X-Flight at Geauga Lake was definitely the best of them all. I've ridden it as Firehawk at Kings Island, but it just doesn't seem to deliver the goods as well as it used to.
Midgetman82 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Rock N' Roller coaster in Walt Disney World because it's a my favorite indoor launched coaster, second place for me would be Expedition Everest for it's smoothness, theming, and technology.
coastercrutchfield Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Ugh... this this is kind of tough. Probably a toss up between Deja Vu and Minder Eraser (Elitch Gardens). I was surprised how much smoother ME at EG was compared to other Suspended Looping Coasters IMO. Here's a Offride Vid at the one at EG.
KDcoasterMAN Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I kinda just realized I've never ridden a Vekoma SLC.... Is this bad or good? (The only Vekomas I've ridden are Ninja, Carolina Cobra, Sidewinder, Rock N' Rollercoaster....
snowboard83 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 ^ probably good. Means you still have the majority of your brain cells remaining. Anyone who has ridden one of the worst SLCs can't do math after one ride. My favorite Vekoma would be an Invertigo or, and I may be in the minority, T2. T2 may have just been giving very rare smooth rides the day I was at SFKK, but I realllllly liked it.
Midgetman82 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 ^heh, so did I. You're not alone, T2 is in my top 5 favorite Vekomas. I'm pretty sure you sat somewhere in the back, or you just got slightly lucky.
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I kinda just realized I've never ridden a Vekoma SLC.... Is this bad or good? Good, I guess. You just need to know how to ride it, that's all. ^ probably good. Means you still have the majority of your brain cells remaining. Anyone who has ridden one of the worst SLCs can't do math after one ride. I had trouble remembering my name after riding Kong, and it's nowhere near the worst!
Noxegon Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Gravity Max, hands down. It's a superb ride.
