COASTER FREAK 11
And since you're an English/Linguistics major, just what does "ginormous" mean? Or did you for get to SPELLCHECK? Main Entry: ginormous Part of Speech: adj Definition: simply huge; extremely large Etymology: 1948-53; giant + enormous Usage: ginormously, adv Webster's New Millennium™ Dictionary of English, Copyright © 2003-2008 Lexico Publishing Group, LLC ...Do you know how to use a dictionary? BeemerBoy
^ I'll be honest. I had no idea the word even made it into the dictionary. Yeah, I've heard it repeatedly and have a bit of a disdain for it, but had no idea it got that kind of recognition. Quoted from an AP article: "There will be linguistic conservatives who will turn their nose up at a word like 'ginormous,'" said John Morse, Merriam-Webster's president. "But it's become a part of our language. It's used by professional writers in mainstream publications. It clearly has staying power." One of those naysayers is Allan Metcalf, a professor of English at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., and the executive secretary of the American Dialect Society. "A new word that stands out and is ostentatious is going to sink like a lead balloon," he said. "It might enjoy a fringe existence." But Merriam-Webster traces ginormous back to 1948, when it appeared in a British dictionary of military slang. And in the past several years, its use has become, well, ginormous. Visitors to the Springfield-based dictionary publisher's website picked "ginormous" as their favorite word that's not in the dictionary in 2005, and Merriam-Webster editors have spotted it in countless newspaper and magazine articles since 2000. That's essentially the criteria for making it into the collegiate dictionary — if a word shows up often enough in mainstream writing, the editors consider defining it. But as editor Jim Lowe puts it: "Nobody has to use 'ginormous' if they don't want to."

TheRapidsNerd
So, let me understand Lou Time. If "tomorrow" means five days from now, then: 1. "shortly" means two days from now 2. "weekend" means "Not this coming weekend, but maybe in a couple of weekends" 3. "soon" means "I don't have a clue when I'll post the next update" And since you're an English/Linguistics major, just what does "ginormous" mean? Or did you for get to SPELLCHECK? Oh, wait. You've got a job and I don't, so of course I'm just hanging around doing nothing all day but harassing you. You know, I should be nice to you. After all you are a mod, and if I annoy you enough, you just might drop kick me off into Bantron for a time out. (I hear the serve free alcohol there . . .) Anyways, your pics of Japan are a nice stroll down memory lane. I'm kind of surprised you don't have more pics of Space World and Umam . . . something or other . . . Park. (Come to think of it, I seamed to be lacking on pictures for this day as well. I think I was just having too much fun to think about taking pictures.) Wasn't this the day in the ice house you laid on the ice bed? Or was that later? Lou Time is truly a cross rip in the interdimensional space/time continuum. It fluctuates and evolves at random, often spontaneous and light hearted in nature. It's as mysterious as the Aurora Borealis, yet as familiar as Steak n Shake. Paralleling Zen Buddhism, it simply is, no more, no less. I too follow Lou Time when doing some of the hobby/youtube projects, though I call it "Whenever I bloody well feel like it." mcjaco
Deriding someone to post updates, is not funny or constructive. It's a friggin' hobby and we all have lives outside of the forums. Get over it. She'll post when she has time.

Louise
I'll respond to some more posts and do an update when I next get chance, apologies to some of you for the delay, but life has kinda gotten in the way what with work and family commitments, trying to find another job, and dealing with annoying personal drama... Trip report just hasn't been at the top of my priorities. Thanks to those of you who get that, and thanks for your patience, hopefully I'll be posting more regularly soon, if nothing else I wanna get this finished before I start doing THIS year's trips! But for now... So, let me understand Lou Time. If "tomorrow" means five days from now, then: 1. "shortly" means two days from now 2. Wasn't this the day in the ice house you laid on the ice bed? Or was that later? As others have pointed out, "ginormous" is a word. But seeing as I use the words "mahoosive" and "gihugic" (which are most certainly not words), my usage doesn't really relate to much. Oh, and "forget" is one word, by the way. I did post a disclaimer on page one about my erraticness (is that a word?) in taking photos! Some days I took none, like Hamanako Pal Pal/Lagunasia, for example! New update coming "soon"... For those who don't understand Lou Time: "soon" = whenever the hell I feel like it. Thank you all.
