Rollercoaster Rider
Just watched "Carrie" (the remake) and it was pretty good. I give it a 9.5 out of 10. I agree. It was the first Horror film remake to scare me (I'm looking at you Texas Chainsaw 3D, Halloween 1/2, Friday The 13th, and Nightmare On Elm Street) [quote name="tarheel1231" Saw the Lego Movie and I LOVED it! This should be no surprise as the geniuses who made "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" 1&2' date=' and 21 & 22 Jumpstreet, made this masterpiece. I feel like the ending with the live action was a little strange. Other than that, this movie was great![/quote] They didn't do Cloudy 2.

It may not be scary but I really like the story line and how it ends. Leaving lots of room for another. I just watched Lovelace for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure how believable Amanda Seyfried was going to be as a porn star since I always see her playing these safe roles. I was surprised in a good way. She is such a good actress in my opinion and I think she pulled this role off well. I loved the cameos by James Franco and Adam Brody. I am very intrigued by Linda's story and I plan on seeing if the library has her book.

jray21
Saw Robocop and Pompeii. Robocop was playing on the brand new IMAX theater that opened up here so I had to check it out. The theater was much nicer than the movie. Movie was exactly as I expected. Didn't really expect much, and it didn't deliver much! I wanted to see Pompeii because I had visited there when I was younger. It was much better than I expected. Still nothing great, but it was entertaining. Philrad71
^ I haven't seen it, but from what a friend told me at work, don't expect an exact remake if you're a big fan of the original. He loved the original and thought the new one was excruciatingly painful to sit through.
TPDave
Finally got round to watching Frozen, it's a little bit good! Soundtrack will definitely be playing for a couple of weeks!
Diamondbacker27
I don't see how everyone loves Frozen? Some of the music was good, but I mean. I wanted to walk out of the theatre. I wasn't expecting a musical or anything, but I thought it was just plain awful. Olaf was the only thing I liked in the movie. That's just my opinion. Sorry. I guess before the movie came out, Olaf was the only thing really promoted in the trailers, but right after the release the marketing became heavily based on the good reviews and the songs. I could see somebody not liking Frozen, but I don't see how somebody would think it was plain awful. However, it's your opinion, so I'll respect it. Diamondbacker27
Well, I like certain Disney movies. Like Finding Nemo, but that's about it. I only watched one trailer before watching it. My sister dragged me to go see it. So, I guess that's why I didn't enjoy it that much. I certainly enjoyed the last hour of it more. There was a lot of drama and more Olaf

I'm almost 47, and we avoided "Frozen" like the plague, because the early trailers were all that idiotic "Olaf" thing. when we heard that he's only a small portion of the film, and that it's a very good musical?. . netdvn
I actually thought Frozen had a great story and Olaf was a really likable, not very annoying character (like a lot of other children's movie mascots) at all. Let It Go is one of my favorite Disney songs. TBH, the other musical numbers really weren't that special. My favorite recent Disney film is still Wreck it Ralph, but Frozen is up there. Lego Movie beats out both though. Great story, really funny, amazing animation, amazing visuals. That was the most fun movie I've seen in a long time. The live action segment was a bit on the heavy handed side and it sorta dragged everything down a little, but other than that, I loved it.
Woodie Warrior
I was finally able to watch Gravity for the first time tonight. Not only were the special effects the best I've ever seen, but it was possibly one of Bullock's best performances. I hoping it wins Best Picture on Sunday, but my favorites typically don't win.... 2009- My favorite: Avatar, Winner: The Hurt Locker 2010- My favorite: The Social Network, Winner: The King's Speech 2011- My favorite: Hugo, Winner: The Artist 2012- My favorite: tie between Argo and Lincoln, Winner: Argo I guess last year one of my favorite's won, so maybe Gravity will win after all. I watch and am interested in the Academy Awards, but the only films that ever seem to win are: A: Somewhat based on real life events B: Set sometime in the past C: Not utilizing heavy special effects or CGI D: Not box office giants/blockbusters Gravity doesn't seem like something the voters would choose, but who knows, a lot of people seem to be pushing for it to win. rcjp
^^ I would also like to see Gravity winning something but I'm not very confident. But then out of the films that have the most nominations I've only seen that one and American Hustle. We'll see.

VinTheAttendant
Just got back from watching The Wind Rises. I've still yet to decide what my official consensus on the movie is, as it really is thought provoking and I feel like it really needs to sink in. There's a running theme in the movie that may not be as obvious as you'd think, and while you can see it relate to the main character, you don't realize just how much it applies to him until the very end. The way you can interpret the ending, it's hard to decide whether I should feel happiness, sadness, or emptiness. I also like how there's no real villain or problem in the movie. It's a simple story about an engineer and the choices he has to face in a broke and war-torn world. He only has whatever is around him to work with, and even though it's not much, he uses them to build himself up from nothing. That alone is makes for an intriguing story, no bad guys or traitors necessary. This may seem like a laughable comparison, but it really gave me the same feeling after watching Bambi. No villain, no issue to resolve, just life. I really shouldn't have to bring up the animation, of course it's some of the most gorgeous visuals you'll see on the screen this year. It's Studio Ghibli, they could probably animate Epic Movie and make it Oscar worthy. I did feel that the time and travel transitions were a bit overdone, but as long as I get to see some incredible animation on display, I really can't complain. The music is equally as gorgeous, and I'm still surprised that scores from Miyazaki's other works don't get as much attention. Overall, it's not my favorite Miyazaki movie, but it's still a deep, beautiful, imaginative piece of work. I haven't seen Frozen, so I cannot compare the two, but I am glad that it's getting enough recognition to receive nominations from various award ceremonies. I've yet to come across a Miyzaki movie I didn't like, and considering this will be his last, I now know there will never be a Miyazaki movie I didn't like. Enjoy your retirement! Let it Go didn't win just to give the writer the EGOT, it won because it is catchy, popular, and is really the only memorable song of the bunch. Plus, the wickedly talented Adele Nazim really hit it out of the park at the Oscars .

(tho, I admit that I giggled hysterically at Ellen trying to make up for Travolta's horrible gaffe) while I don't find it a "bad" song (unlike at least one of the nominees -- not counting the one made ineligible after the fact), the strongest song was U2's. make no mistake, "Let it Go" won to give the guy an EGOT. I'm fine with that -- heck, I predicted it -- but that's why it won. edit to add regarding performances tonight: Idina looked fantastic, but she sounded a bit strained (so did Bette Midler for that matter). I think the orchestra might have been a bit too loud. that might be why the U2 performance just blew me away (no real use of the Orchestra). . .
