rcjp Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 ^Interesting idea. That should be quite fun (and odd).
KingRCT3 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 ^ Thanks. Fun and odd is indeed quite a good description. In pure S&S fashion. Â -- Â No time to lose, I had another idea! Â You're all aware Knott's Berry Farm is getting Voyage to the Iron Reef next year, an interactive dark-ride by Triotech. I just love the visuals they made, and the basic idea behind the ride. Â But -Triotech admitted it themselves- the ride will basically be like a long giant screen and the vehicules won't do much. And this is bothering me, because you'll be seated and you'll play the game like if you were at home, in front of your PS4 or Kinect, only with bigger screens... I believe that a theme park experience should offer something you can't do anywhere else. I know money is the main reason parks can't go all crazy, and I don't blame KBF on that. But let's put the money and space requirements aside, and imagine what an ultimate version of Voyage to the Iron Reef would be... Â The main innovation here is the vehicles. Think of a suspended Kuka arm (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey), where you'll be lying forward on your tummy. That particular position is intended to mimic scuba divers, as that is what you are in the ride (everything occurs "underwater"). The lower part of your legs (below the knee) will be free, so you can mimic swimming if you want. The gun, because this is still an interactive ride, is fixed to the vehicle body. Theming would be along the lines of what we see on the logo: rusted brownish metal, steampunk-ish influences, etc. Â Here is my rendition of the vehicle (prior art): The brown thing next to the head is a shutter, preventing guests to see on the sides and up. Â It's actually somewhat like a Volare car in the loading position: Remove the grids, lower the peeps' arms to their chest, makes the seats confortable and you got it. Â The ride will have both screens for the game interactivity and dynamism, and physical sets because nothing beats physical sets. For the screens, those would be the same as in Harry Potter FJ, AKA the giant curved domes, where all your field of view is in the movie. And for the physical sets, I take my inspiration from I Corsari at Gardaland, were the underwater scene really blew my mind. So now imagine that, but with smooth and aerial motions... Â I haven't imagined a storyline, a ride progression, nor a station design, but that's it, my primeval concept of an ultimate Voyage to the Iron Reef!
coasterschile Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 ^seems pretty cool  I heard in 2016 here at Fantasilandia they will be opening a family coaster, seems like it'll be a Vekoma Mine Train (most likely to be the former "Eagles" at Freestyle Music Park) I must say it's pretty disappointing, since lots of people were expecting a "brand new custom roller coaster", because of the new 2015 ride "Moby Dick" (Widsom Rides) that looks like a very cheap ride so they could save some money to 2016 attraction, which, as Gerardo Arteaga (2015 president of IAAPA) said, it was going to be an "spectacular" attraction.  Fantasilandia doesn't have space so they will remove "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride and they'll move some rides to make space  In my opinion, it is a let down, I think mine trains are only enjoyable if they are themed, and Fantasilandia doesn't theme so much their rides, and many people though it was going to be a coaster that would put Fantasilandia on the map. I hope this rumour isn't true so Fantasilandia would add something unique to their rides/coasters This is the 2015 ride, this was located in Old Orchard Beach And this is the "super" new coaster for 2016
Sharman19 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 6. Purchase Banshee-style trains for Raptor. NOOOO!! Raptor is perfect the way it is. Try Alpengeist.
canadianparkfan Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Inspired by a ride simulation called Nova (I can't find it again on the Internet, sadly) and the cute , I imagined an extreme S&S flat-ride: the Swing Shot. Basically an upside-down Screamin' Swing, where the seats always face upward for the maximum airtime.    Then it goes back-and-forth for several massive airtime moments! At the end, the arm stops in the straight-up position, the counterweight is decoupled again and the seats slowly get back to earth.  I don't want to spam with thread with pictures and everything, so I'll leave this link here with more pics. That's awesome! Remember imagining a ride like that before myself. Too bad you can't find the program now
DarienLaker Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 This idea kind of few into my mind, for Darien Lake to get a Gerstlauer spinning coaster. Even though the ones we have here in the US are all clones like Tony Hawk's Big Spin/Pandemonium at Six Flags, Spinning Dragons at Worlds of Fun, and Fairly Odd-Coaster at Nickelodeon Universe I was just thinking about Darien Lake getting a customized spinning coaster by Gerstlauer, not just another clone, but one with a custom layout and no, it's not going to be underground or underwater or be a dueling coaster and/or have fire effects, and not a modified version of a clone. Â Â The only reasons why I'm saying no to another coaster clone for Darien Lake is because nearly all of Darien Lake's coaster are clones and the last "custom" they got was Predator in 1990. So it's going to 25 years since Darien Lake got a "custom" coaster since the coaster that were after Predator were all clones!

DarienLaker Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 ^Darien Lake's Superman/Ride of Steel coaster came first in 1999, at the time it was consider an original design until Six America built their Superman: Ride of Steel coaster which is cloned from the Darien Lake one. Six Flags New England's Superman: Ride of Steel/Bizarro has a totally different layout than the ones at SFA and DL, so therefor SFNE's Superman: Ride of Steel/Bizarro is the only one that has an original layout.
GwaziBSRider1 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 ^ Darien Lake's Superman is most certainly not a clone just because they cloned it for Six Flags America. Hell, it was only cloned once, unlike Batman the Ride. You wouldn't call SheiKra, Manta, Roar, Bizarro, or Oblivion clones, would you? They've all been cloned once, too.

That's what I was trying to say. I know bizarro is different and a hell of a lot better. But I don't count the original as a clone. If you, as a person got cloned, would you say you're the original?, or a clone? Think about it.
Superbatboy Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I don't know why I would think this, but I think in 2017 or 2018, Knott's could build a new racing hyper coaster by Chance. One side would be teal and the other side would be orange. They'd use the new Lightning Run trains and it would be 180 feet tall. I doubt this will happen, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Â This would be dreamy!
DarienLaker Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I was thinking if any park was willing to get the rights to use Power Rangers. I wonder what kind of a ride would fit in with them?
Superbatboy Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I was thinking if any park was willing to get the rights to use Power Rangers. I wonder what kind of a ride would fit in with them? Well there's 5 Power Rangers, so only a quintuple tracked inverted racing coaster would suffice
DarienLaker Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 ^I wouldn't say a quintuple racing roller coaster for a Power Rangers theme ride, I was thinking of the following rides for Power Rangers in the list below  .A five car spinning coaster or wild mouse .A five train Vekoma Family Inverted coaster .A Zamperla Air Race flat ride .A dark ride shooter .A quintuple water slide complex .A 4D motion simulator ride

DarienLaker Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I was just thinking about new coaster for Martin's Fantasy Island, maybe they can get one in where the log flume was.
ioio Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I was just sitting here after an atrociously long day at SFMM and thought... why not a giga winged coaster, just a load of airtime hills, no inversions. Other than land/money, would that be possible? Are wingriders (the trains) designed for high speed like that? I think that would be an awesome replacement for Viper one day LOL

The only wing rider is faster than the majority of the coasters in the world. But wing coasters train might need some modification.
KPfan Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I've been told that Kennywood has either met or plans to meet with Premier Rides regarding a future project. Perhaps something big in the works.
Myself Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 ^Either Kennywood was REALLY happy with Sky Rocket, or that post was delayed some six years. Still interesting to hear nonetheless.
DonGeorge Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Here's my crazy Idea. Â This is Green Lantern's last season at Magic Mountain. This is because it will be moved to Six Flags St. Louis, and an S&S Free Spin is going where Green Lantern was at Magic Mountain. This way, the park can hold the world record for 'Most Batman Themed Coasters.' (Even though Six Flags America also had 3 Batman character themed coasters once.) Edited January 30, 2015 by DonGeorge
PVA62 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 ^^ and ^^^I've been hearing there has been some discussion for awhile now regarding something big for Kennywood. I figured it was all a pipe dream since I hadn't heard anything since. Interesting that you bring that up though!

I figured it was all a pipe dream since I hadn't heard anything since. Interesting that you bring that up though! Â Now that the new land deal has finally come through, there's a lot more credibility to new, big things for Kennywood. I remember at an ACE event about ten years ago now, the park discussed several ideas for the new land. They kept stressing that their next coaster would be a steel coaster with inversions, which they held true with Sky Rocket. Other possibilities included a new indoor coaster, a second racing wooden coaster, and a large collection of new flat rides. Personally, I'd love to see them build another racing coaster, preferably a mobius one!
