Im a member of ACE. I have only been to one event because I spent most of my summer working on my project. Actually I sent on the carowinds off season event also so for that alone I think it was worth it. I dont really know the community like I would like to but I dont have any negative experiences so far...

^ There is no age requirement that I know of, which leads me to...

If I were an ACE'r, I'd be the thinnest and the youngest.

Oh no you wouldn't. There are tons of kids in the club.

Well if I joined I'd be the hottest!

I was never an ACEr, nor plan to be. one of my friends was though! but one time i said "flat ride" and he was like "wtf is a flat ride??"

my friends think i'm really weird because i can identify coaster track. and none of them believed that the boomerang at SFDL is NOT the only one in the country!

At PCW: "Hey, isn't this like Boomerang at Darien Lake?"

Me: "...Yes. It's EXACTLY THE SAME. and Top Gun? EXACTLY THE SAME as Mind Eraser!"

i should join the canadian one. i practically LIVE in canada lol.

I'm still in ACE, have been for the past 7 years. But with the lack of events I actually attend, the number of buffets I get excited about, and the timelyness of the newsletters and magazines getting less and less, and the membership costs going up, I think this will be my last year. If I want to get an industry newspaper, I'll go for Park World

I remember talking to only one ACE member (they were at BGW for some sort of event), and he was this older, rather lean fellow--didn't seem to be a regular customer of "The Frying Dutchman," if you know what I mean.

We joined in 2004 just so we could go to coaster con at CP. I have no problem with being a member...i'm not a big fan of gravy though...go figure.

Just my opinion, but I think the ert time is worth the membership cost. I've been to several of the national events and several regional ones and have always had a good time. From an enthusiasts perceptive ACE does good work for preservation and raising money for the Roller Coaster museum. Like anything else there are things they could improve....newsletters and magazines on time, their website (ack) and general communication to the masses. There is also quite a bit of politics if you read the business meeting minutes(yes, I was bored one night!).

Anyhoo, my two cents.

Sadly, Im an ACE'r... But let me tell you Coaster Con was one of the most fun coaster things I have ever done. The coaster crowd I hang out with does not talk ONLY about coasters, we talk about normal people things like movies, music, and Paris Hilton.

It's that time of year again! And I am doing Coaster Mania next year... so I guess I should send in my money so I can do that one event. I really should look into the ECC. Or maybe Robb will start a TPR club... no he won't.

There are about 1000 groups that have access to CoasterMania. Being a member of ACE is not a requirement.

There are lots of cheaper alternatives.

RideWorld $10

CoasterBuzz $20 (I know how you feel about this)

I hope to have a printable voucher available next year. Time will tell.

I'm an ACEr!!! But I don't eat like one .

Classic quote of the year goes to...

Really, I am so happy! I don't know who to thank ! I want to thank Phishy, Robb, Elissa, Ted, Zack, Eric, Danny, Zane, and 100's of others that you'd kill me if I went through them all! Thank you everyone, I am now going to put that in my signature! I never thought I'd win an award

I was in ACE from '89-'91. At the time, it was pretty cool, because I couldn't get cool coaster pics anywhere else. I decided not to renew for two reasons... The dues went up 100% for the next year! And the one ACE event I attended (at CP when I was working there) didn't leave me with a great impression.

I remember they had Curtis Summers as a guest talking about Mean Streak design. At the end of his talk, he opened it up for questions, and this lady asked him the most inane question. It was something she should have asked a server, something like "Will there be desert?" I can't remember exactly what her question was, but it was basically insulting to Mr. Summers, showing that she either didn't know he was the guest speaker, or didn't care, or didn't have the mental capacity to tell the difference.

I know that's only one person, but others I met were equally cuckoo, so I bailed. Only to end up here!!!! Where the real cuckoos are! Yipes!
