2nd time not such a charm?

Recommended Posts

Any of you had a roller coaster which you had so much fun on and couldnt wait to go back to the park again to ride it, and then when you finally did..you were dissapointed? It would usually be a park outside of one's city.

Superman: Ultimate Flight (take your pick). Loved it when I first rode at SFOG...rode it like 20 times that day, but then it seemed really, really, really LAME the 2nd time we went back. In fact, none of the flyers really "wow" me....

Flyers and stand ups seem like the type of "gimmicky" coaster that just never worked for me.

Mr. Freeze!

OMG I loved these once they put the lapbars only on these...but then, on my second visit to SFoT's I had a really horrible ride. I felt like I couldn't breath, the bar was killing me, and it was no fun. I thought it must have just been a fluke so I rode again later in the day and again it was miserable and no fun. I don't know if I changed size, they did something to the restraint, it was just bad luck or what, but honestly the thought of riding another Freeze worries me!

Skyliner at Lakemont Park really surprised me in 2005. For such a small coaster, it felt really fast and a couple of nice floaty parts. 2006 rolled around and I made it back, only to find a sluggish, bumpy piece of crap sitting where one of my previous favorites had been.

Black Mamba....I was so much surprised as I came into "Deep in Africa" the first time. The ride was even awesome and I couldn´t get enough from it.

Well, I think I rode Black Mamba to often since it has open, this coaster becomes very quickly more and more uninteresting in my eyes.

It´s a very monotonous ride....inversion, curve, inversion, curve.....without any surprising moments.

Wicked Twister - I ride it the first time in the very back. I thought it was amazing with the airtime and the spinning and stuff. I got on it once and went on it again and it was just like.....woo.....This year was just like....yea...fun....meh....

Power Tower: Space Shot - The first tme was seriiously awesome with the views and airtime....no wait so went on it again and it just seemed it was kinda fun...and yet boring....less forcees...

Wild Beast at PCW - It's been one of my favorite coasters until this year. They put new wheels on it, now it's horrible.

Minebuster at PCW - When I was younger I loved this coaster, I hadn't been to Wonderland in years and when I went back and rode it again it was awful.

I'm sure once I make it back to Cedar Point, Millenium Force wont seem nearly as awesome after riding Superman at SFNE.

The Beast. Spent 2 days at the park last summer, rode it around dusk on the first day. Fun ride with a great sensation of speed throughout, and pretty smooth. Next day, and keep in mind this was AFTER riding SOB, rode it again but in the middle of the afternoon, and OMG. I came off that thing feeling like my spleen had ruptured and all my ribs were cracked, that's how rough it was. I thought SOB was pretty rough, but it was about on par with some of my rides on Mean Streak, Villain, and Raging Wolf Bobs as far as roughness. It's daddy was as rough as some of the stories I've heard about SOB. I'd actually re-ride SOB if I ever make it back to the park, but Beast gets a big no.

i found this out on the Vampire in the 1990's. my first ride to be suspended and swinging at the same time. it really freaked me out, the way everything was themed perfectly, it had a really spooky atmosphere that never died! i almost didnt do it, but i did.

i went back 5/6 years later after they had made it floorless and found it to be extremely rough, slow, very few swings and purely boring. the themeing had gone and eveything due to the change of trains.

  • 2 weeks later...

Vortex at PGA. The first time i rode it it was acualy a somewhat decent ride. Then we rode all the other rides. When we came back to PGA we decided that we would ride Vortex first instead of top gun (tradition in my family) well that was a bad Idea we sat in the 2nd to back and for a B&M it really sucked I got no thrill at all it was like sitting on a rocking chair.

Heh... SFNE's Mind Eraser. It was my first inverted coaster back when it was Riverside. When I was a kid, it was my favorite coaster, biggest one I had been on. The next time I went to Six Flags, a few years later... SROS was there. Nuff said...

Now see that can't happen to me, i can appreciate a ride for what it is, not for it is the best out of any ride at the park. Like Yankee Cannonball & canobie corkscrew, Yeah Cannonball is better (duh) but i still love to ride the corkscrew and enjoy it very time.

1) Silver Bullet (Frontier City, not Knott's) I went on it for the first time when I was about 9 I think. The loop was the best part. I went on it again, and I was bruised (on my legs) and it just wasn't even amusing.

2) Wildcat (Frontier City) Again, I went on it for the first time when I was 9. It had some good airtime, and my mom agreed. We sat in the front, with minimal airtime, but one of the hills was awesome. We rode it again, but there was no airtime, the brake run seemed to quick (and it hurt) and the final turn before the brake run threw us against the side.

3) Halfpipe (SF Elitch Gardens) I went on it when I was eleven and was very surprised how thrilling it was. Dropping vertical with awesome airtime, I had to ride again. So I did, but the second time my ear was in PAIN and there was hardly any airtime and it wasn't as fast. It still is a great ride though.

Silver Bullet at Knott's

The first time I rode this I was like, "Yeah, that was cool! Let's go on it again!" Then I got off it for the second time and realized "Wow, this coaster sucks!".

Revenge of the Mummy at USF

I still like this ride a lot, but after the first 3 rides, I realized "Idiana Jones is so much better than this!" It was rough, but it was fun.

I'm with you. Vampire was amazing when I first rode it (1999?), it was so much fun, we whored the walk-on it had.

I rode it again, um, 2004 I think, and it was rough, slow and dull.

Vekoma touched it though, so...

Great Nor'Easter at Morey's. I knew SLC's had a bad reputation so I expected the worse but really enjoyed the ride (it was my 1st invert) last year. I was looking forward to riding it again this year and I'm not sure if it is more rough this year or now that I have ridden 2 B&M inverts and use to the smoothness of them, SLC's will always feel more rough but I did not enjoy it nearly as much as I did last year. I'll still ride it next year (and every yearly trip to Morey's) but it's not something I will look forward to as much.
