UberBeavis Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 It'd be in my top ten list, if I'd only been on 10 wooden coasters
Jon Sabo Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 ^^^I hope that picture isn't posted at any of the parks. They will surely have security on code 3 alert then!
SFOGdude25 Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Ahh, you mean this...I took it about a week ago (I just missed vertical construction ) It's a closer view. Mean Streak!? It must have been because of how cool it looks. I gotta admit though it's pretty fun, but it is NOT a top ten coaster.
Jumboshrmp Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I think they may be predicting a few problems, and therefore, by building it early, they can try and get it fixed before it opens.
Carnage Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 It's not a Golden Ticket Award. It's a really small magazine that probably ranks the biggest. Coney Island's Cyclone is probably No. 1 on that list. I think the magazine is Theme Park Magazine, which I've never heard of, but I can't really read it in that picture. Yeah I realize it wasn't a golden ticket award. I just meant that Cedar Point always seems to have higher rankings just because of it's fanboys.
Rollerholden Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Maybe I was expecting it to be really, really bad, but I didn't think Mean Streak was bad at all, except the fact it was trimmed so bad...
TheKlockster Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I saw that thing banner on Mean Streak too. I like Mean streak but found that a little hard to believe. Here is a pic I took the other day of some vertical construction - through one of the peep holes that have been drilled in the fence. So apparently this is one of the views Cedar Point WANTS you to see. Could that be the station in the right?
FlyingScooter Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 mean Streak: There aren't enough fanboys in the world to vote that puppy in the top ten woodies. I never noticed that sign before.
Rollerholden Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 ^It's on my top 10 woodies...out of...12... But I liked it more than any of the ones in SoCal.
ECZenith Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Klockster, the only building I see is on the left of the photo. Do you mean that one? They kept Whitewater Landing's buildings, I'm assuming they will be re-using for either the ride's loading station, or maybe a gift shop/queue house.
TheKlockster Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 No - I don't mean a building - I mean the supports. There are like mass footers all in a bunch of rows clustered together toward the left - with supports decending toward them. I figured it might be a end brake run and station platform after it is built. Right now its just footers though.
cprocks22 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 *BUMP* and they are making a ton of progress http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4461 All thoes footers might not be the station...
mightypotato Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 What kind of support is that in the middle (the one with three little prong type dealies)?
ECZenith Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 That is a weird support... That second photo shows what is definately a long "rampy" section.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 That second photo shows what is definately a long "rampy" section. That looks like it is for a decining brake run. Definately not a launch though too short and even if it was that short it goes up to far to be a launch. So my bet is a sloped brake run.
taytig Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Does anyone think it could be a smaller launch coaster like Kanonen? They could be going for the record for the launch coaster with the most inversions or something like that. I really have no idea, but it does seem plausable at this point...
jamesdillaman Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I think it's clear the record CP's after is longest thread before track even goes up on TPR. Go, CP! All your fanboys will be heliping you out. I believe in you! -James Dillaman
Oni Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^Hah^ You should see some of the crap that's flying around over at pointbuzz.com. It should be illegalized, honestly.....This is about all I'm getting from over there: OMG!! ITS GONNA BE A BACKWARDS-LAUNCHING 500FT 4D COASTER LIKE X WITH A TRANSFER TRACK AND WINGWALKER TRAINS!!! LOL!!11!!1! Enough said, I suppose. My two cents? It's a roller coaster It's an Intamin It's red It's NOT going to be 500 ft tall, among other things.... The announcement is supposedly in August....so be patient!
Cheapalcohol Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 In a new update at PointBuzz there are some very interesting new track sections - http://pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4553 . I've never seen Intamin track like that! Is it on any other Intamin coasters?
FeelTheFORCE Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Yea that is pretty strange. I wonder whats under the tarp also...possibly a train?
Rollerholden Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Hmm that track really does looks strange. And about the trains being under the tarp...I'm not really sure. It wouldn't seem like it because that was there where I was there a cfew weeks ago, and do the trains usually arrive that early? I'm very anxious to know what this is!

Yea I agree with you that the trains probably havent arrived this early...but what is so secret that they have to hide it?
Guest Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 It almost looks like something is supposed to roll over that flat section of track, like a wheel on the underside of the train or something. It'll probably just turn out to be something mundane like an attachment for a set of brakes but its been about five minutes since the last crackpot theory so I thought I'd throw something new into the mix.
