Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

I just got back from my Cedar Point trip (and stay at the Breakers Express) and have finally seen the construction for myself...

Unfortunately, it led to more questions than answers...

Since I haven't posted my 2 cents yet in this thread here it is:

Looking closely at the track, there were a few 15-20 foot long sections of track that made a 90 degree twist...Other than these pieces, there weren't really any other pieces that seemed like they might be for inversions. (those 90 degree sections could be used for a top hat to or something like that, and not necessarily an inversion)

The majority of the track looked mostly straight and curved...I don't think that there will be many turns in this ride (at least from the track that I saw.)

Personally, I don't think that this ride willl break any inversion records. But the teaser sign "here we go again" leads me to believe that the coaster will break some kind of records...And, being CP, that is very possible.

About the construction site: At first it seemed a lot smaller than I expected, then I rode the train. From the train it is easy to see that this ride will occupy a lot of land.

And now, probably the biggest piece of information that I got...

Walking through the Cedar Point Museum back by Skyhawk, I overheard a CP employee talking to someone about the old white water landing ride and what was to replace it...I jumped in on the conversation and asked the CP employee (this guy was well dressed and obviously knew about project 2007) about the new ride. He said that the last time he checked, there were more than 85 rumors as to what the new coaster would be. (he must have read this thread )I asked him when the announcement for the new ride was to take place and his response went something like this:

We like to wait as long as possible before we announce a new ride. If we could, we would wait until a week before it opened. What usually forces us to announce a new ride is the fact that there are so many different companies working on different aspects of the ride (like souveniors and merchandise) that at some point along the line someone will leak some information. It then spreads on the web, and we are forced to finally announce the new ride. I wouldn't expect an announcement until at least October...

So we probably have to wait a while longer...

He also said that only around 30 people total actually know the details behind project 2007, and that these people are very high up in CP's management. So don't trust any dippin dots workers (or ride operators, for that matter). they don't know anything...

I have some pictures I took of the track and of the construction site that I'll post as soon as I get them resized.

Didn't Mr Kinzel say in one of the Paramount-related articles that the announcement was coming in August??

I could also have sworn that I heard "mid-August" timeline for that announcement. It was stated in the Paramount purchase shareholders webcast.

I think those blue tarps are intriguing and could be the final clue as to the ride (or they could very well be components for the lift motor---blah blah). The shape of one of those photos (on the Pointbuzz site) looked similar to a boat-style coach/car. Oh well, im tired of guessing; August will be here sooner than most of us think. By then, we may have already hit the milestones on this forum/post of:

1. 60,000 viewers

2. 1000 posts

3. 100 pages (and counting).

If they go Vertical soon then, HOT DAMN. Lol thats early. The coaster would be finished by like, January. Which, is REALLY early. Don't coasters usually open a lot later then scheduled?

Oh wait HA thats only if it's a Six Flags coaster, blame the weather!

^^ Cedar Point I think doesn't want the ride to open late. It's bad for the new coaster to not be running when the park opens for the season (see six flags) Plus, I'm hoping they'll be some theming with this ride, so that takes a little extra time, and if you don't plan for it, the ride won't open with the park (See PKD's IJ: Turbo Coaster) I for one like it also for the fact that people in the park can see the construction, further hyping the new ride for next year.

Im not sure if anyone has picked this up yet and did some research on some of the hints they had.. but if you look at the signs "Yall up for some serious sidewindin" and "we're going in a whole new direction" gives you hints on the motions of western snakes. Google sidewinding snakes and watch them.. Those fit both clues and the western theme.. as well as the colors of the track and supports (red and desert tan color) Now honestly, i have no idea how maverick came into play but i doubt that will be the name used..

The tracks themselves are mostly curved, so i doubt this will break any inversion records. However, that is only the straight/curved parts of the track and we have still yet to see the critical pieces that will crack this mystery open (which is logical on their part for keeping a secret)..

I doubt it will be a dualing coaster to me. it just does not seem like its what they are building (I might be mistaken however).

as james said above.. i believe this ride is going to take some time to build, therefore im pretty sure its going to be fairly complex especially if they are building a new coaster type (Again, being the first to create something new and better than the rest.. hence the "here we go again" signs)

As i said i might be mistaken, as the desert snake theory is a bit off from some of the other hints. But one thing is for sure, this ride is going to be awesome.. its only bigger and better from now on (look in the past at CP)

It might be a dueling launched coaster, look at how close all these footers are ...

That looks more like a station and lift/launch area really, generally when you see a big rectangular area packed with footers like that it's for the station. However, the old White Water Landing station still being there is puzzling. There's no footers really leading to it, so unless there's more footer work to be done (which it doesn't seem like), it'll either be used for something else or part of the queue...
