Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

Here's something to think about, could that track be sort of a splashdown moment, lick an aquatrax? I'm thinking more and more it will be one. It's the only thing that everything fits in with so far. Until other information presents itself, I'm hedging my bet on that.

Yea I see your point, especially because its curved slightly and at the very end of the peice the flat part ends...so maybe thats the last part of the splashdown when you come out of it.

After scrolling through countless pics of Atlantis Adventure at Lotte World, none of its track segments have that odd track type. My guess is its bracing or something.

What ever it is I am sure we'll be happy. It just keeps getting more interesting. Does anyone at all give it even a 10/90 chance of being a full blown prototype?

I looked around the intamin site a bit more and found this photo - it is not with the aqua trax, but with another water ride. Could it be possible that they have added a new track type to the aqua trax layout? It looks similar!

Also - any word on the official announcement?

Super splash track - could it be moidified to fit an aqua trax?

Also for pics of Fuga de Atlantide:

And here are some of the ride under construction where you can really see the track Intamin used...

... and I'd say that the track/supports at CP are much more Aqua Trax-ish than this.

It looks like it COULD be that type of track, the holes along the flat part look like they make the little splashes down the drop as seen on Fuga.

I don't think this would suck at all... Whatever it is, CP isn't going to build a crappy steel coaster. They just don't do that.

I agree, but they maybe combined technology to have a real coaster with a flume style splashdown.

Now here's a record breaker - a water/boat ride with inversions....

What do you think?

The only reason I couldn't see CP getting one of these is because Snake River Falls would be right next to it. I think that the GP would think that these two rides were the same. Then again they have a lot of Intamin's and the GP doesn't seem to care, and the old log flume was in this spot so I really don't know.

For taytig-o far, none of the supports on site look like they are for inversions, obviously that could change but at this point I'd feel safe ruling that out and check out the facts...

*Layout looks mostly low to the ground

*LOTS of high banked curves

*Presumably interacts with the water (what else could that piece be?)

*Is in the western themed area of the park

Again, I'm not one of those people who just can't wait (!!11!) for the ride to be announced but of course, this being a new Intamin for a place I visit every summer, it interests me.

Personally, if this is an aquatrax or similar, I would like that. CP could use a new water ride after getting rid of the flume, I really like this area of the park and think it would be nice. I don't want to see them going after any height or speed records after Top Thrill Dissapointment and feel this would be a good move.

The track is too small to be Aquatrax. Notice how much wider an Aquatrax is than normal Intamin coasters. (And in this photo, doesn't it look like Drew Carey is in the front?)

And I believe this photo suggests a station flyby.

That's not an Aquatrax, it's a SuperSplash. An Aquatrax runs on regular Intamin track.

I personally would also like an aqua trax. I like water rides and putting water together with a coaster equals a hit for me. WE don't have the selection of rides at my homepark(PCW) but we do make it to CP every few years, so a new ride that is not like one at every other park is a welcoming sight for me!

After wandering around the construction zone yesterday and looking at the signs, it hit me: What if this thing has switchbacks?

"Back up, bronco..."

"We're goin' in a whole new direction!"

The weird track that looks like a water coaster may very well be, but a prototype Intamin water coaster (with theming?) isn't out of the question yet.

"Hold on to your spurs" might refer to the spurs of track needed to make a switchback.

"A change is a comin'" is probably self-explanatory. In any case, I think I'll hold on to my switchback assumption until August.
