Astat Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Vertical construction started today, there are a handful of small supports going up.
CedarPoint420 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Vertical! http://www.thepointol.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=7114&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=1215&sid=19908389bca8f599c5b078a98b8a5e98 scroll down to the 11th post.
coasterguy618 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Looks like from the small supports that there will be ground hugging turns. I'm so glad I choose to go to CP next year instead of this year!
CedarPoint420 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 So far 7 supports have gone up, no track yet.
robbalvey Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 New photo update page: http://www.themeparkreview.com/cedarpoint2007/cedarpoint2007.htm Thanks to the guys at http://www.pointxtreme.com/
DATman Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Well, I like vertical construction... Anyway, I'll be at teh Point in early/mid august! I can't wait, as I really want to ride the screamin swing. Maxair should be fun too...
jamesdillaman Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 ^ I love the updates, keep them coming. You saved this thread for me. Thanks point extreme, these are excellent, and the captions added are so perfect. For someone going through coaster withdrawl (no more themeparks this year, except going to the beach waterpark), this makes it a little easier to cope. -James Dillaman
Rollerholden Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I can't wait, as I really want to ride the screamin swing. It's not that great...you're better off riding MF.
DATman Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 ^Been there, done everything in the park except Maxair/swing. So there.
Rollerholden Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 ^No I totally understand. That's why I did it, so I'm able to say I've been on the world's biggest swing.
MLRC7 CP Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 ^ I love the updates, keep them coming. You saved this thread for me. Thanks point extreme, these are excellent, and the captions added are so perfect. For someone going through coaster withdrawl (no more themeparks this year, except going to the beach waterpark)-James Dillaman I still haven't been to an amusement park this year As for the new coaster(s), we know that it will have a custom layout, will not be an inverted coaster, will not be a ballcoaster, and most likely not a flyer; because as far as I know, intamin hasn't been working on a flying coaster. Edit: Its Red, has white creamish supports, and probably will break a record or two or more. Is there anything else we know or have speculated
Rollerholden Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 It's red. And knowing Cedar Point, will probably break some record.
DJStedali Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I do not usually post much here as you guys can probably tell. But I just got back from visiting Cedar Point these past two days. Obviously you all know about the supports being up. So I figured I'd just add my one photograph that I took of the supports. It is a panoramic pic so you get an idea of the size and location, if it is still unclear to some. Stitching for the panoramic isnt the best but its still accurate.
MLRC7 CP Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 From that picture the site looks like it could easily contain a coaster with the legnth record
Divv3k Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 And from this point onwards it shall be referred to by me as Dena and only Dena!
HCOSurfer90 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 From that picture the site looks like it could easily contain a coaster with the legnth record I've been thinking that as well. They havent broken that record yet, I'm pretty sure at least, and there is a LOT of space there.
jamesdillaman Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Come on, everyone knows that Cedar Point doesn't have ROOM! How can they possibly break the length record when they can't even build a major coaster, let alone the world's longest... [/sarcasm] -James Dillaman
EuroTre Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I'm quite interested! So far it looks like an Intamin looper or something! I have never ridden an Intamin (AE at SFGAm doesn't count!) and would like to ride it when we go to Cedar Point next year!
Turtleggjp Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Given how low to the ground those supports are and how they are banked, can we officially rule out a wing walker? It seems to me that the lower side of the train on that curve would be scraping the ground at that point.
dandaman Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Going tomorrow and Friday. Lack of digital camera sucks, however... but if anyone wants a visual description, let me know.
Golfie Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I think I'm gonna go buy a plastic hard hat at the dollar store and join the boys to do some 'struction. Maybe try to find some more room for the coaster to go in! [/sarcasm]
TheKlockster Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I am headed up on Saturday - I can't wait to see this for myself.
CedarPoint420 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Point Pixels has an update from today. http://www.pointpixels.com/ Including this interesting peice of track. Anybody know what it is? http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/details.php?image_id=801
DRWP2005 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 It almost looks like that piece could be for the transfer track possibly? I say that only because all the pieces under it look like transfer track.
ECZenith Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Great to see vertical construction has started. I can't believe this thread is almost at 100 pages and they've just now put supports up. Oy...
