Carnage
^^ But what IS an aqua trax? I seriously don't see anything different about them with the exception of the train. It's like new coke.
martinb
"Eye" wasn't complaining about it being an Aqua Trax, just saying its a bit of a let down when they've kept it such a big secret. "Not" complaining about the ride it self, if they didn't keep it a secret it would be fine, knowone would be let down: But whose to say it IS going to be an Aqua Trax? ECZenith
The one in Korea has a nice little launch, about 0-50 in 2 seconds, and uses chain lifts as well. They are capable of steep climbs and drops as well as highly banked turns, but no inversions. I'd be extremely excited to have on at CP. And they ALWAYS do this kind of stuff with new coasters. They could just let track show up, footers pop up and not say anything-but they tease... No matter what people are going to go to the point to try out this coaster, whatever it turns out to be. I think they'll go for a unique layout coaster rather than try to break any records. It's a "good direction" for the park to go in.
okinawaboy11
Oh look, what looks to be Triangular Track. From www.pointextreme.com PS Sorry if someone has already posted this, I haven't been folling the thread that great.
Jon Sabo
How about a Hyper-Aquatrax coaster WITH an inversion?..lol (some of the more irritable peeps on this thread are already going to respond to this saying 'can't be done and so on, but guessing they don't get the joke..lol)
okinawaboy11
^ lol Yeah, I think the Aquatrax is totally out of the question now.
Real
http://www.rcdb.com/ig1646.htm?picture=10 Really? How does tri track count out Aqua Trax? Unless its a crazy sweet HYPER (not giga or beyond) with tons of airtime or airtime and inversions, Im not enthused in the least. CP always falls just a bit short of going all out. Something Voyage did.
Milkchan
^^ LOL I doubt that the aquatrax will happen because it launches. I think the park have enough lanch coasters right now and they may not get any for a while. Also how will an aquatrax fit in to the western/American theme Also why are they getting the tracks this early?
ECZenith
Four possible reasons... 1) Prototype... Needs to be built now to work out all the kinks in time for opening 2007. 2) Really big-where they need to start building it now... 3) Avoid winter '06 and have the thing done by the fall. 4) To mess with our heads. Real
IT could fit easily. Theres alot of water back there to utilize - thats why. And why get track? For this reason only. Cedar Point is one giant Media Whoring event. Even their crappy blog with two sub-par writers are proof of that. At first I thought it was an alright thing but now its nothing more than added advertising for a very cheap cost. I mean really, before SKyhawk they hyped it up like it was some big to-do. Remember the construction plans in the garbage can? Really now... Especially when the thing breaks the second day of use I dont think its going to be really big. I think this ride actually is going to require alot of ground work and alot to do with the water so naturally they are just setting a longer date so they can get certain things done before certain weather events. It wouldnt be the easiest thing to place footers in the freezing cold river and ponds of CP.

okinawaboy11
Well, if it is a Aquatrax, Aquatrax, and Maverick, don't exactly sound great. The wing coaster or whatever would sound fine.
Swimace
I think a wing walker would just be redundant, does CP really need another Intamin launched coaster? I love the thought of an Aqua Trax because it's something really unique, but a wing walker would be rather bland IMO.
Gutterflower
Just out of interest who says an aqua trax HAS to be launched? theres no reason i can see why this cant just be a traditional water coaster....
Milkchan
^ A chain lift maybe good because it will be more realiable than launching and provide more assurance that the ride will no close down. There is still one thing I have a problem with the coaster is its capacity because 8 people gets in the train and then it takes off.
Jon Sabo
how about another Disaster Transport?..looooool
ECZenith
The existing Aqua Trax uses both electromagnetic launching and a traditional chain lift. The variety adds to the uniqueness of the experience. I'd love to have one at CP but I'm open minded about the possibilities.
TheStig
^^LOL I doubt that the aquatrax will happen because it launches. I think the park have enough lanch coasters right now and they may not get any for a while. Also how will an aquatrax fit in to the western/American theme Also why are they getting the tracks this early? Dude, they have 2 launched coasters, PKD has what, 4? Thats a bad reason to say they arn't getting a launched coaster. Personally, Ill be dissapointed if it is an Aqua Trax, but Ill still go and ride it next season. Maybe it's something else, who knows at this point... Colin C
Hercules
The thing that really confuses me is when people say "How will that kind of ride fit into that theme." I mean, just about any kind of ride, except a mine train, can fit in any theme that a park themes it to. Just because they only Aqua Trax coaster out there has an elaborate Atlantis theme to it, doesn't mean that all of them have to be that way. Swimace
^I think a nice "Powder Keg @ SDC" theme would fit into the area very well, although I've never been to CP so I can't say for sure.
Joe Cool
I feel like the biggest idiot but what is a "aqua trax" is it a water coaster? What is the name of one of these? It could also maybe be one of these http://www.rcdb.com/ig3185.htm?picture=45 but problay not because those look like all Intamin tracks.

cprocks22
The track does look a little like X-Car track, which i wouldn't mind. They could take largest inversion away from the one that was just built in the U.S.
