WAY overpriced!

 

I think Sony is very dis Illusioned on the Blu ray being the next DVD

 

I love Video games but to me the "next" Gen graphics are not all that much better than the current gen.

The PS3 does not show me anything WOW! especially $600 bucks worth of WOW.

If you buy a PS3, you have wasted your money.

 

$600 for a console is just wrong, and lets look at a past console at that similar price range...

The PS3 will bomb, consumers aren't willing to spend $600 on a console. Also, consumers would look for the cheapest HD DVD option if they considered investing into one of these. HD-DVD is a lot cheaper, the only difference between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is the amount of space on the disk.

 

Blu Ray is nothing special, just a high capacity CD. The PS3, sure it has fancy graphics, but am I willing to spend $600!? If I wanted a decent system, I would get an Xbox 360.

 

Or, you could be like me, and just buy a Wii. All of the games on that system look great, the rumored price isn't bad (around $180-$250).

^^I agree. But I'll probably buy it anyways I'm a sucker for expensive porpular stuff. But, I think I'm gonna wait till the price drops a little. Which could be a year or two.

But It's closer to a computer than just a game system. There's no memory card, there's an upgradeable hard drive. And it reads more than Music and game CD's. I think it's worth it, but it's out of my price range. My dad said "If I'M paying this kind of money for it, it'd better be able to take me to work and feed me." So, unless I can come up with $600 to fork over, I'm not getting one.

^^We will have to see on that I don't think Sony's console will drop from $600 after just a year or two with all the stuff they are saying it is going to have/do. I'd sooner get a 360 or a Wii than a PS3. The Wii actually looks innovative although there is the chance of it being too "gimmicky" I am impressed with it more than I am the PS3. The 360 on the other hand will have about a year if not more of a head start so it has had the chance to establish itself however I have only seen a few "wow" titles on the 360. So in the end (for me anyway) it all depends on what system is going to have the games I'm going to want to play.

Well, considering its price, and what it is, a gaming system, its way overpriced, yeah it may have blu-ray, but I don't have an HDTV, and I don't usually use my video game system as my main movie player, dedicated players are always better

 

As soon as I heard the price, we started looking at the 360, so its Xbox for us, same power, half the price

If I do buy it....it wont be for a while. Look at the 360, there were a lot of bugs. I will wait until many people try it out and I see for myself it is worth the investment.

Im not excited really, i won't get one. ITs too overpriced, and is more of the same. I want a revolution, not an evolution.

Man, i didn't know 3DO's were that high! I got mine of a buddy back when for like 50 bucks.

 

i won't get a PS3. Way too much money for a game system. The predicted cost of the games is nuts as well.

 

I also heard they were going to program them somehow to only have the games work on the first system they run on. That would kill a resale market for it. Anyone else heard this?

Not really, Ive adopted the 360 as my platform. Blu Ray will be the undoing of sony once again (see: Betamax,MD,Memory Stick,ect...).

Most peope that will buy a PS3 already own a dvd player, so Blu Ray is a waste, and the whole thing is just too over the top...

 

 

A console shouldn't need amazing graphics to have good games....

Im a fan of HD/DVD, as ive seen it both and blu-ray in side by side showings. Its has alot cleaner resolution and also is going to costs alot less to make as well.

I will get a PS3 eventually but not at $600 and with $60 games. I have too many unopened PS2, Gamecube and XBox games to play before I consider getting a newer system. I'll pick up a PS3 when it's under $300 and I can get games for under $20.

I have to agree with the general concern about the cost of the PS3.

 

As for the new Blu-Ray DVD technology, I don't see myself upgrading my current 250+ selection of DVD's to this new format. (It won't be the same as when I upgraded from Laser Disc's to DVD's)

 

I want to see the PS3 succeed, but that price point will be to high for many people to afford. Even Microsoft was concerned enough about the cost of the X-Box360 ($399.99) that they offered a basic version for $299.99, rather than risk alienating potential buyers.

I wouldn't buy Playstation 3 even if it came with 5 of it's best titles for free. It's way overpriced and over-hyped Imo....But then again don't all systems start out that way??...Anyhow, I'm gonna get the Nintendo Wii instead. Also partly because, I've never been a fan boy of Sony products...especially playstation.

I dont know if I will get a PS3. I have always had Playstations, but this one will probably be too expensive for me. Ok, I like the look of it and all that, but for $600, I might just consider buying an XBox360.

 

I dont know, I will just have to see when they come out.

Well our friends in Europe will have to wait for thier PS3's, what a bummer, I know what its like to REALLY be looking forward to a new system at launch

What makes me laugh is all the people that said when the xbox360 came out (oh im going to wait for the ps3 it will be much better) well even if it is i have had a year and a half of next gen gaming while those who are waiting esp in europe will now be waiting longer how funny is that.

I can't wait till this thing is released. I love watching people be idiots on Ebay I am thinking $1500-$2000 come mid-December.

 

Is anybody surprised at all by 400,000 in US. Come on, Free Advertising if there is high demand.

 

This will help Wii and 360 out alot though, probably the 2nd kink (1st is price) in Sony's Ironfist over the industry.
