thomas2
Looks like the Swiss park Conny Land is getting their first coaster. It's a shuttle from Pax, but it looks like it's going to be something special. http://www.rcdb.com/id3520.htm http://www.themeparkvision.be/NL/Attrac ... ParkID=126 Be sure to check out the concept art. The second spike appears to be taken upside down. I've never saw something like that. Homer
^Likely because its a PAX coaster. I seriously wonder why no small park in America has yet to invest into a PAX coaster.
jarmor
Lets see...B&M, Intamin, GCI, Premier, Mack, Vekoma...I can see why they haven't invested in a pax ride lol lol...
stormrider
But shouldn't it be cheaper since they're in Russia? Also, Arrow's proposed fishook ride had this on it.
Jon Sabo
I actually love the design-layout of the ride. I would be curious if they add that lighting system around the supports as it shows in the artist concept drawings from the website. Does that center section have a 0-g rollover in it? It almost looks like it they way the track appears different (in the concept-drawing). *It just states 1-inversion on the rcdb site. Hmm. Perhaps its just the sketch that made it appear as if 2 inversions were present. Oh well.
RCfanatic
I find it strange RCDB only sais 1 inversion, doesn't that weird spike count as an inversion? I mean you get inverted right? Anyway, the coaster looks fun, PAX's Wild Train Coasters are very good from what i've heard (ask: viking86) so hopefully this one's as good to... PAX makes kiddie sized coasters that are more exciting than B&M's so I am a bit surprised that there isnt anyone over there. They seem to become more popular here in Europe, atleast with the smaller parks. I guess theyre quite cheap compared to the coasters made by "the big companies". Worm
looks like alot of fun and intense with that small loop and 'spike'
bgwfreak
Looks like that spike isn't tall enough. I can just see the train go flying off the end.
viking86
Remember that its only concept-art. I would have been a bit unsure if I wanted to ride if Speedmonster ended up looking like this http://www.rcdb.com/ig3245.htm?picture=
coaster1
There WAS supposed to be a PAX Cobra-1 Shuttle here at the State Fair of Texas. The ride was signed off, paid .. but the Russian Government had problems with the ownership of the ride. The fair would of owned the ride, but would of been operated by an outside company (Amusements Inc.) and due to that, the project was cancelled. Seems to be for the better with the fair now investing in Doppelmayer and Mack for future projects and talks with for a wood creation
BeemerBoy
PAX makes kiddie sized coasters that are more exciting than B&M's so I am a bit surprised that there isnt anyone over there. I'm not saying you're wrong, or trying to discredit your opinion, but maybe you should give us a few examples of B&Ms and Intamins you've ridden to support your claims. I've been curious about your signature for a while now, so I'm wondering what makes PAX kiddie coasters so desirable?
viking86
B&M's I have ridden: Batman la Fuga Superman la Attracion de Acero Nemesis Inferno Katun Intamin's I have ridden: Balder Kanonen Colossus @ Thorpe Park Speedmonster Wild Train @ Erlebnispark Strasswalchen is the only PAX coaster I have ridden so I cant say that they are the "best company". I also think that their other coasters doesnt look quite as good. What makes Wild Train so fantastic though is that its *surprise* WILD! It throws you around like crazy, and the airtime is far more intense than on for example Balder. It may not be stronger, but you go from having your butt in your seat to being squeezed against your lapbar in a split second. Its just amazing! I like rides that feels a bit out-of-control, and thats where Intamin and B&M fails to deliver in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, I still think B&M's and most Intamin's are great rides, but not as good as Wild Train in my opinion. I couldnt ride Katun 37 times in one day without getting bored... Tomizzle For Rizzle
That inverted shuttle design has been in the works for a while. I was told by a company rep for pax that "its looks painful" and he would "recommend the Cobra design over that anyday". I have a cd the company sent me with footage of their rides and the smaller family coasters look fun, but that Cobra looks crazy. You should see the one with two vertical loops and a hump after the spike.
BeemerBoy
^^ Cool. Thanks for the explanation. That does explain a little more about these things now. I'm not sure the Balder fans in here will be quick to agree with you, but I'm definitely intrigued by PAX now.
ECZenith
Very weird, hope it actually goes through and gets built. I wouldn't worry about the train rolling off the inverted spike, I'm sure it will have a bumper like Intamin impulse coasters, and if engineered properly shouldn't have enough momentum to make it to the end anyhow. SharkTums
I've ridden a PAX Coaster and a couple of their rides. NOT Impressed. I've basically heard from people that have been on that Wild Train coaster, that yes it's really good for its size, but most people just hype it up. Like Tommy, I have also heard PAX Reps bad mouth their own rides! I wouldn't go rushing out to ride this anytime soon.

Jon Sabo
For some odd reason, that onride video appeared quite rough. I do like the head-chopper effect, but I doubt I can ride that thing more than a couple of times in a row before heading to the Tylenol cabinet; and I could ride the defunct DF/BGE for multiple times in a row I guess it could have been the video-quality as well, so I would have to actually ride it to gather a better opinion. viking86
Its not a smooth ride. It doesnt feel like its about to rattle itself to pieces, but it does throw you around quite alot. But thats what I love about this coaster. Its unpredictable and wild. If you prefer smooth coasters you will probably not like Wild Train. But if you like coasters which feels like they are alive and are doing the best to throw you out of your seat, you will probably enjoy the ride. I rode it 37 times that day and left the park with a giant bruise on my left side. But it was worth it. I think some of the other members of ECC got like 50-60 rides on it that day.... Well, that pretty much seals the deal for me then. I think I'll be passing on PAX. There's still plenty of "wild" beemers out there. And they won't leave me with giant bruises. viking86
Yes, not everyone enjoyed the ride as much as I did as you can read from the trip reports. Most people on the trip seemed to love it though. http://www.coasterclub.org/trips/reports/2005/rhapsody/day3/
DailyBugle_JL
I love how the track is so...SOLID! lol. I hate PAX. That solid track scares me. Now that i know it gives people bruises I want to burn it to the ground.
