If not dropping straight into the mouth, it would have been cool to have a bunch of tentacles reaching up at you. Regardless it looks like a fun little ride on a low budget. This seems insane considering the taller, longer Griffon cost 15.6 million USD. I suppose steel prices may have inflated the cost to such an enormous degree, or that some of these cost reports are incorrect, or they are considering different factors. Griffon was cheaper since it was built in the USA(less shipping prices), had hardly any theming,was built when steel prices were lower, and used the old brakes. According to this source a creative director in charge of the project at Merlin is rumored to have put in a request for the themed elements as a last second addition. These elements would have included a large “mouth” for the creature that the train would dive through, as well as a tunnel themed to be the wreckage of a ship. Apparently, though some mishap, misunderstanding, or possibly just poor workmanship, the items delivered were deemed unsafe to use. According to this source, they may never add the additional themeing, though I would think that the huge crowds of disappointed guests would be reason enough to see the job through. So lets hope they get it done… To me that is a big disappointment, both the fail-calculations, and the fact that this maybe never happens... It is exactly the same as the Standard Flash Pass at Six Flags. It works for all major rides. The best is the price. It costs only 8 Euro + 10 Euro per person. So you pay 28 Euro for one Flash Pass for two persons. http://www.heide-park.de/heide-park/fun/express-butler/ They told me that they actually test this new Flash Pass System and when the people like it, they will introduce a Gold Flash Pass later. MaBi Posted August 23, 2011 Share Posted August 23, 2011 The Heide Park Resort Hotel “Port Royal” is a very nice place to stay. All public places and all rooms are nice pirate themed. They have rooms for 2, 4 and 6 persons and one suite. The hotel has a private park entrance near Krake. As Hotel guest you get breakfast and dinner buffet. The dinner was very good. Beer, wine and non-alcohol beverage are included and you can drink so much you want. After the dinner is an entertainment show. If you want lunch, you can have it a la carte. You can only pay with your room card inside the hotel not in the park. Here are some pictures of hotel and our room. MrMorgan Posted August 23, 2011 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Great look inside the Port Royal. I was just in the park last week and got to see it from the outside. Certainly looks nice on the inside, too. Does anyone else think Colossus has gotten a bit rough in the valleys? Not like "shake you side to side" rough, but more like "running over speed bumps" rough. I was actually kind of disappointed after our rides. It use to be so smooth and fast, now it is starting to get almost painful Also, they were only running one train all day long, which made it the longest wait in the park. Krake on the other hand; though short, was a ton of fun! There is awesome hang time down the drop, coming out of the inversion, (especially on one side of the train), and great sustained floatiness on the camel back. We agreed that it feels like it is missing one more element to make it "complete", like a heartline or something before the break-run. But, all in all, it's a lot of fun and they were constantly running 3 trains, so the line moved really quickly. Does anyone know if the terrible SLC Limit used to actually have a second train? They have completely closed off the transfer track garage, and the cue line now goes under where the train should roll out, making it impossible to use. See what I mean in these pics? All closed off.
