skaunit
^, ^^ and ^^^ Am I crazy for getting depressed reading that? I remember my first few rides on the great Goliath, like back around '04-'07ish... Those MCBR's barely trimmed out, and the train seemed to just barely loose speed... I LOVED the ride back then! I mean, I still love that ride, but the horrid STOP in momentum there really changes that ride, and kind of kills it really. [earmuffs] Kind of like having sex and stopping in the middle for 5-10 seconds and then continuing [/earmuffs]. Oh well, I just have to consider myself lucky to have experienced the ride in it's original form...

harper83087
I had quite the Goliath experience back in '02 when I first visited the park. We rode and got stopped on the MCBR for a decent amount of time. When we got back to the station they let us ride again and this time we might have gotten a slight braking but flew through the rest of the course at top speeds. Good times. BlueFireCoaster
Anyone else notice how the lift on Goliath used to be a lot faster? This is to keep Goliath as slow as possible throughout the course until it gets to the MCBR. Goliath is one of those coasters that flies through the course faster than it was initially designed (the speed at the bottom of the drop is in fact faster than 85mph), which is why the lift hill has been adjusted to "creep" over the top of the first drop, and now has such hard braking on the Mid Course. It's to slow the ride down, avoid uncomfortable g's for guests, and keep that wear and tear down. All days are different, when the ride is going over the speed it should, it's braked to a standstill. On days when it is moving closer to the speed it was designed, they brake it to a creep, because even then, it's hard for them to avoid going too fast through the second half of the ride. That helix of death when the train is going faster than it should is insane. It's far-fetched to hear that the ride flew through the brake run without so much as a "tap" of the mid courses, whether it's the first ride of the day or not. I mean, there's lots of people that have their stories and they'll stick to them, but really, the ride is not opened and run that way with guests onboard. Ejectorbater
I just don't think Goliath flies that fast during its course. It seems to craw for me after the first hill. I don't know...just my opinion.
WFChris
^I heard the are bringing the trains nearly to a complete stop on the MCBR on Apocalypse and Batman, as well

skaunit
Hmm.... Sounds like we have something to ask for if at all possible at the next WCB during ERT on goliath??? Less trims? certainly worth a try...
buckaroo234
on hot days goliath will run much faster then on colder days. Its a function of grease in the bearing being less sticky. Days where ive blown thru the MCBR is when the grease is stickier in the bearings. And now that i know how many speed sensors that train has i can guarentee, blowing thru the MCBR and stopping on it, by the time you hit the Helix of Death your at the exact same speed. Tmcdllr
^I heard the are bringing the trains nearly to a complete stop on the MCBR on Apocalypse and Batman, as well Batman does not have a MCBR the last time I checked. I remember riding Goliath not long after it opened, the train was barely stopping on the MCBR.

Hmmm, are you sure that there's just a SLIGHT POSSIBLILITY that the ride was stopped due to a breakdown or failure of some sort? Just a thought. If the trims on Goliath are stopping the train for 20 minutes, then I guess the operations must be pretty slow.

They let us go through the station for a second ride though. Was just trying to go along with the whole Goliath-trims thing.
