Amazing.

I can't believe what I'm reading.

You guys *just* got a brand new woodie not even 6 months ago and now you want something "on par with Ninja???"

Do you even hear what you sound like?

Selfish bastards. That's what.

Be happy you have 17 roller coasters to ride and stop your obnoxious whining and complaining.

Six Flags Magic Mountain doesn't dissapoint me, many of YOU do!

^ That's why I'm in favor of a new coaster no more often than every other or third year. Keeps people from getting spoiled.

I would be interested in finding out where URC got that information.

^^That's a bit unfair.

SFMM and the people in this thread all disappoint me.

KT on the other hand, she's thrilled with this news!

I just hope they got all the toxic mold out of that coaster before shipping it over!

While I like having tons of coasters, Terminator, X2, and Viper are the only ones really worthy of a re ride for me, I was hoping this'd be something a bit more worth while... But I'm not necessarily gonna complain about getting it (assuming it's true) since it's something the park desperately needs.

Well isn't Ninja a "family coaster"?

Sorry, but not every thing that SFMM does I agree with.

Terminator is a great ride, I'm thankful that the park added it. But honestly I would have much rather seen the money spent on Terminator go towards park improvements (bathrooms, landscaping, repainting, ect.) and operations.

I don't know, I was expecting something along the lines of a terrain Intamin Rocket/Mega-Lite/Aquatrax with hints of a Eurofighter and B&M Dive Machine. I was also expecting it to use the tunnel going through the mountain that the Metro still/used to occupy.

Sounds like a pretty reasonable explaination. And I agree that you don't have to *like* everything a park does. I don't think we're the ones (people who feel that park management doesn't alway have the Midas touch and sometimes invest in duds) under fire, but rather people who think a $20 million prototype needs to be built every two seasons. Or at least that's what I got out of it.

Got an email earlier that might be of interest to some, and it's for a good cause.

I think the road run coaster from SFNO would make a nice little addition to magic mountain if it weren't for the that the same coaster is only a short drive down the five at Disneyland. Gadget's Go-Coaster is the same roller coaster with nicer scenery

^I don't think that the public will really notice though so it'll still be a fine addition to SFMM.

And SFMM doesn't have much of a step up from their kiddie coaster. It's just kiddie coaster to the mine train. I think this will draw more younger families to the park; and I thought DL was quite the drive away? I didn't know it was close, or I would have taken a break from DL for SFMM! Gah!

First of all this has not been confirmed, and second of all why all the complaints? The park needs the coaster and it is a great move for SFMM. Besides Ninja and Goldrusher(both operating for more than 20 years) the closest thing to a family coaster is the 10 foot tall Percy. If someone could get the park map and put the coasters footprint where it is supposed to be that will narrow things a bit. The coaster has also not been announced by management, meaning for all we no there is zero credibility for this rumor. Like Robb said, it is something he can ride with KT, and until KT is like 4 or 5 there is nothing for her to ride besides Percy. Gadgets Go Coaster is fun, it is popular(at disneyland) and would make a good addition.

While I would much rather see a spinning coaster, the Vekoma Roller Skater is good news. As others have pointed out, there's quite a bit of a 'jump' between kiddie and family.

While Roller Skaters are indeed considered kiddie coasters (my 10-year old cousin refused to go on Gadget earlier this year) I still think this is a step in the right direction.

...that being said, I wouldn't have minded a Giga Aquatrax with fire.

Posted

I dont believe that rumor for a second. SFMM has never gotten a new coaster, thrilling or family oriented, that some other park out here in California already has.

I'll believe the new coaster is what it is when Jay Thomas himself confirms it.

Posted

I believe it, and I like the idea. It's a fun little kiddie ride that I can also ride. The one at Disneyland may be the same, but good luck riding that one, the wait time for that one is insane.

Same. When there is a link to a real news source or a press release issued by the park then I would consider it "official."

The URC article comes off like a "well written rumor" and without anything backing it up, not even a quote from someone at the park, it really is just that.

I mean, I spoke to Jay Thomas at IAAPA today and he said nothing about a press release going out.

The only people who'd care about a roller skater also being at Disneyland are the spoiled teenagers who consider it a direct threat to their budding adulthood to even be seen venturing close to the "kiddy coaster".

Everywhere I've seen roller skaters, in the USA and elsewhere, I've seen parents and kids riding them together, and having a great time doing it. That's what a family coaster is. I would expect to see the same if a roller skater winds up behind Johnny Rockets. As stated previously in this thread, it would be a great alternative for the younger siblings while their big brothers/sisters ride Terminator/Deja Vu, among other age groups.

I know many of you already consider SFMM to be a park for only one age group, but there's no way the park will survive if it only caters to the teens/young adults age group. Having more attractions that everyone can ride is only a GOOD THING for SFMM, especially because just about every age group besides the teens/young adults has more spending power than that one does.

My only thing is the oddball placement of the coaster, if it is indeed over by Deja Vu. That's a bit of a haul to take the kids for 1 ride from BBW or Thomas Town. The screaming from Deja Vu might be a concern as well. Maybe it will be enclosed?

It would seem to me that Flashback's grave would be a better location. Or maybe that was considered to be too close to Canyon Blaster?

At least with the money saved, it can go toward the 2011 project. Or maybe there are more park infrastucture upgrades coming? We have already seen one, with the painting of Goliath. It's a bit unrealistic to expect SF to build a huge coaster every single year as well.

No, it's fantastic!

There is nothing for kids to do in that corner of the park. Elissa and I are a perfect example. Do you know how many times one of us has had to wait with Kristen while the other rides Terminator and there isn't anything for us to do with her in that corner of the park.

I think it's a great location for the ride and gives parents a kids options where there currently isn't one.

As a teen I think this is awesome placement. Usually when I go, my party splits in two groups and I don't get to see my little bros ride anything. Now if that is there I can ride Terminator while my bro can ride the little coaster. I think if it's true this is a "smart" move from SFMM!
