A113
The park is in a deteriorating state as it is, so this ride should be both appealing and beneficial. I personally see a THBS, but I know this has been suggested before.
Manic Monte
They have been hiding all info about this coaster for quite some time now which makes me think its something a little special. Â Auqatrax?

PeoplemoverMatt
^I was gonna make the point that people wouldn't like to travel to the face of the sun to go to an amusement park, hence why there isnt one in Arizona...but then I remembered SFMM is also on the face of the sun. Â It gets really, really warm here in the summer, but it doesn't hold a candle to a Phoenix summer.
ohiocoasters
You didn't look at my location, did you? Â I worked at CP for two years. Wasn't talking specifically to you but rather saying that CP fanboys have just as high of expectations as SoCal ones. Â And I doubt SFMM will get an Aquatrax but that would be a good fit. robbalvey
Regarding gisco's much repeated comment, I also don't think that next year's coaster will be a kiddie coaster. It will appeal to all family members, I'm quite sure. Park management knows that they already have two kiddie coasters and are aiming for something that everyone can ride. But everyone can ride Canyon Blaster. Â I guess my question is more when do you guys think a small coaster stops being a "kiddie" coaster and starts being a "family" coaster? Â - A Miler kiddie? - A Zierer Tivoli? - A Vekoma Roller Skater? - A Tony Hawk Big Spin? - A Traditional Wild Mouse? - A Mine Train? Â I'm not sure I'd rule out any of those options as a possibility. Does Six Flags have any family coasters laying around at other parks? Maybe Kentucky Kingdom is getting rid of another coaster we aren't aware of? Â --Robb "Just speculating..." atem122
^I'd say a good family coaster is in the 50-80 foot tall range, something that isnt massively tall, but has the ability to thrill all generations
ebl
If you go here you can see a dad and his daughter riding what looks like a mini mine train of some sorts. Could that be a hint? Y'never know... But it would be kinda silly given how close it is to Gold Rusher. Â "But everyone can ride Canyon Blaster." (Robb) Â Doesn't Canyon Blaster have an upper height limit? I thought it did. The official SFMM website doesn't mention it. I'll check it out next time I'm at the park. Â Personally, I'm still betting on a THBS/Pandemonium type ride. That would be a good fit and something a little different. Â Eric
larrygator
^No, Percy's Railway has the upper height limit.
ebl
^ Yeah, I knew Percy's Railway did, but for some reason I thought you couldn't be taller than 69" for Canyon Blaster. Maybe I was thinking about Timberline Twister at Knott's. Â I'm 5'-8" (68") and got on Canyon Blaster just fine---even rode it all by myself once! In the end though I agree with you and think that it will end up being a THBS or similar.
CreditCrazy
A family coaster is something everyone can ride and everyone wants to ride, like Terminator except with a smaller height reqirement. If a family with kids that are about 7-10 go to SFMM, the whole family isn't going to want to ride kiddie coasters (Canyon Blaster, Vekoma Roller Skater, etc.) Most of the time, they want to biggest thrill they can get for their height, and that's where a Spinning Coaster comes in perfectly with a 42 inch height reqirement. robbalvey
Here is a little update from today. Â A couple of notes... Â - The park was fairly empty for a Sunday. Â - It still amazes me how everyone still runs to X2 first. Â - There was a "Lego Robotics Club" event going on or "Kids who will never get laid in high school." Â - We had an AMAZING random encounter with a guy wearing an ACE jacket who started complaining to some ride op on Colossus about the $1 lockers. And people wonder why that club gets such a bad rep. So here's me officially complaining about ACE members who hold up operations of coasters with their pointless nonesense! Â - To the kids we saw at Colossus - shout out to you guys! Â - To Duane from RCDB and Justin from the ECC who we chatted with prior to park opening - shout out to you guys! Â - And there were signs up about a "Family ride for 2010!" Let's see what it could be! Â Let's see a few pictures... "New Family Ride Opening Summer 2010!" What could it be? Awww...I miss this maze. Season Pass Processing has moved somewhere...you know, with this building gone could make for a GREAT water park expansion! Robotics club boys trying to joke with robotics club girls... Â "A neutron walked into a bar and asked, "How much for a drink?" The bartender replied, 'For you, no charge.'" This is like the "Green Room" area for the robotics club! ...here comes the Lego Robotics Club! Just when you thought that being into roller coasters was nerdy... Out with the M&Ms stairs, in with the jeans! You can see it a bit better in this picture. I'm really happy to see the park giving older rides some love. Can you see where the "old and busted" ends and the "new hotness" begins? We couldn't really either! New Paint Job Hotness! In case you missed the new Ben & Jerry's...here it is! I kind of miss "EAT OUT LOUD" but at least this is probably a bit better. "No one ever wins a Giant Ass Panda." Yay! New restaurant! Longhorns smelled FANTASTIC! Has anyone tried it yet? So is THIS where the new "Family Ride for 2010" is going to go? Hmmm.... The "Terminator Salvation Wacky Wobbler Bobblehead" was so freaking amazing...that we bought one! (and KidTums *LOVED* it!!!) As much as I DO like the pre-show, and think it's probably some of the best theming that Six Flags has ever done, I don't think it's a good enough show to make people wait an extra 10 minutes while half-empty trains are going around the track. Â But still...the ride itself is awesome! While they were cycling empty trains around the track. Terminator as a wooden coaster was running great, but there was no fire effect and the audio is VERY hard to hear now. Also to my dissapointment they were holding back people to watch the entire pre-show in all three rooms.... Hooray! Bench: The Ride got some much needed barrel theming! We were all "WTF is the FLL?" Looks like the parking lot sections are getting re-named to candy! Yummy! We've seen the M&M overlay on the parking lot trams, but what's this I see on the walls? Hey look! New sign! How special! CreditCrazy
That's horrible that they're still making you watch the pre-shows while empty trains are going around the track...it was the exact same way when I went November 1st. Â I'm really glad Goliath is getting new paint though. Just last visit I was thinking about how badly it needed to be re-painted...
larrygator
^I was tempted to try the BBQ place when I was there last month. It smelled ad looked good but I also passed. atem122
^Was it Tito's Tacos?!!! Awesome update Robb, I'm very glad to see Goliath looking shiny again! P.S. A113
Thanks for the update! I still think it's stupid making at the least 2 people watch the pre-shows before riding.
Troy98
Nice update robb, yeah I'm suprised Terminator is still doing that pre show thing when its empty =\ The Goliath paint job looks great but what puzzles me is why they are still hiding there 2010 ride...hmmm

cooksta77
Thanks for the update. I'll be going on my birthday (November 25th) and I'm bringing some first timers from the east coast. If I'm correct that's the day Goliath reopens so I'm excited to see it and ride it. Now for Scream! to get some banner updates and love in general. Andrew "Wasn't Jay and Tim working with Intamin???
