P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

Can you honestly remember the last time Goliath was down for rehab? Although, yeah, it is true that rides in California never really get a break because the rides can be run all year round. Anyways, it is long for just Goliath although not long for other rides.

All this talk about moving the Psyclone trains to Colossus is nice, but how about fixing Colossus first. For one thing, I was there a few weeks ago, and theres a good reason why theres only one track running, cause theres a huge portion of track missing on the second track on the first turnaround. That coaster needs major attention, not just new trains. New wood, new formatting, all new tracking, as well as new trains. Face it guys, I love the coaster, always have, its not nearly as bad as Psyclone, but it is still rough, and needs some tender loving care.

Maintenance schedules are all set by the manufacturer on a daily/weekly/montly/yearly/every 5 years/etc. time schedule, so once a park gets to the point one of those bigger rehabs or inspections...there's no way to avoid some down time. But since it is SFMM, it probably takes them twice as long as it would at most other parks.

It makes complete sence that they would keep the trains. Arent they still on the Colossus track? the last time I was there in December, they were still there sitting in the transfer-loady thingy

As of my last visit on the 21st both of the trains used for fright fest 2006 were still on the storage rails on Colossus.

No reason to take them off yet right? Psyclone is going away, and they always have at least 2 of the Colossus trains out on rehab so there is room to let them sit there.

Would be cool if they ran Colossus backwards for Spring Break!

Bob Hoffman and I (Gisco) were talking about Colossus, and we would really like seeing SFMM use the trains from Psyclone, so they can run BOTH sides of Colossus. But do one forward, and one backward train. That would be much better, or just get them racing again!

Regarding Colossus, I think the park ought to invest in some nice new two-bench PTC trains to replace those 20-year-old Morgans. Then the park could run one side forward and one backward and it wouldn't matter which trains they use because they could run the PTCs either way---provided they got the four-wheeled ones.

When SFMM ran Colossus backward in the early-to-mid-'80s with the old three-bench PTCs, that was a blast!

but then we would not be able to ride on the same trains as chevy chase and john candy. never forget marty moose.

Well at one point those trims were probably useful. I was at frightfest on Friday the 13th October, I even saw the people who were riding Colossus for 13 hours, and I thought they were running all three of Psyclone's trains because I thought they were using 2 regular rider trains and one 13 hour marathon, train. But in order for the backwards to be possible, different trains need to be used. You can't just take a regular Colossus train and turn it around and make it go. Thats why Psyclone and Colossus have different train types.

Didn't Psyclone also run backwards for a season back in the 80's? I heard someone state that.

the post on the last page (regarding "walk-ons'") indeed is a truely intelligent statement. In all honesty, realize that anything needs maintinence. the oil change on your car, the roof repair on your home, even exam\dead week during final exams. it is not un-expected that a coaster may need a matter or weeks to re-new itself...as for the X-Rays, i'm not sure, I know that they can count the numer of threads exposed in each bolt with a set of binoculars to determine what may be loose though.
