COASTERelic Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Sounds like some of the old track will remain... That is sure to look great... Leaving some of the old track for structural purposes was a given. Remember everyone... it will pay respect to the old and once Mighty Colossus.
Mater Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I'd take a sloppy looking Twisted Colossus over a layout that's just over bank > zero g roll > over bank > zero g roll > over bank > zero g roll > over bank > brakes any day of the week.
BoulderDash Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I think you forgot the airtime hills. Â But it really does look a little sloppy. The side view of the first drop makes it look awful. I am sure it will still be epic.

Amen Brother!!! Besides there is no history behind Wicked Cyclone to preserve.
Sfne1313 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Wicked cyclones layout looks so much better. Nonstop airtime, overbanks, inversion. Tc is just drop high five, drop, zero g, top gun,. It doesn't look that great. It looks like it was designed extremely fast.
Mater Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I'd imagine the SFNE topic would be the best place to discuss whatever it is you just typed out, wouldn't you agree?
singemfrc Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 It looks so much sloppier than cyclone But again, cyclone is a lot further along than this one. Once they cut off the excess wood (which they explain in that video) and slap the entire coaster with fresh new paint, it will look a lot sharper. The video also explains how the new design will actually spread the load more so that there is less weight on each bent and/or footer, so it will be even stronger even if it doesn't look it.
coasterlvr Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Â can you guys explain what's sloppier? lol besides the paint, that is.

It doesn't look that great. It looks like it was designed extremely fast. Each ride will be great in their own way. Its really not fair to compare the two as they both are completely different. RMC can only re -do what was given to them and IMO did a fantastic job.
BoulderDash Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 The last picture looks a little iffy to me. The supports look a little messed up. But I didn't see that second picture before and it looks gorgeous.

Not only is TC not sloppy SFNE1313 we get to go down our steep A$$ hill TWICE!!!
tarheel1231 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I think TC's lift hill looks really nice in this pic:
glouthan Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Guys I'm pretty sure the people at RMC know what they are doing - they have this figured out. The coaster will not suddenly collapse in the middle of operation one day.

Tc is just drop high five, drop, zero g, top gun,. It doesn't look that great. It looks like it was designed extremely fast. Â I haven't personally been to SFNE to see Cyclone's footprint, but I would imagine RMC had a LOT more room to work with for that than they did with Twisted Colossus. Â It's also much simpler to build in New England where designers don't have to factor in the earthquake codes that there are here in SoCal. Those codes make a big difference in terms of foundation and support structure, most likely limiting designers' creative options.
tatsu_dude Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 The drop is not going to fall down, and it is going to be the best drop in the park. (except maybe X2, if you like that kind of thing) And, as COASTERelic pointed out, you will go down twice. End of discussion IMO.
rcjp Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Guys I'm pretty sure the people at RMC know what they are doing - they have this figured out. The coaster will not suddenly collapse in the middle of operation one day. I don't think anyone was questioning if it is safe or not (right?) It's just that it looks weird which, if anything, only makes it cooler (and scarier).
Manic Monte Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Both rides are RMCs, and are going to fantastic rides, so quit with the childish cracks. TC isn't close to finished yet, so I don't understand where these ignorant comments are coming from. Â btw, the drop looks friggin AMAZING.
Mater Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I don't understand where these ignorant comments are coming from. Â Â They seem to be coming mostly from the greater Massachusetts area.
iloveblueberries Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Fanboys fighting over which coaster drop looks nicer during construction. Â Yep. That's enough internet for me for a lifetime.
MrSum1_55 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 In the last few pages, I have seen RMC's be called 'sloppy' and an observation that WC has a repetitive layout without airtime. Â Seeing an RMC is the sexiest thing on Earth. Even the worst RMC is better than 99% of other wood coasters.
singforfood Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I'm still not sold on the repetitive layout, but that first drop looks SICK and getting to go over it twice will definitely be an awesome feature.
coasterkid124 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I wasn't big on the blue and green when it wasn't unveiled, but it really looks nice on top of the white structure.
