Are upcharge passes really worth it?
TheoB replied to WestCoasterKing's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that they are worth it to a degree. In the UK we have one shot passes for a single ride, value packages for 4-5 rides and then the unlimited ones. The thing is the one shots are way too cheap and are oversold (£5 for most coasters but Smiler and Galactica are £10 which is daylight robbery imo, I think £8 would be better for everything) and so on the only days busy enough to be worth buying an unlimited fast track with 60+ minute queues, the unlimited pass which is £85 at Thorpe Park and £95 at Alton Towers. This is due to the 10-20 minute fast track queues which really just end up making an unlimited pass completely useless especially with a ride on all the major coasters once at Thorpe Park being £40 and £35 at Alton Towers which means you could just get say these twice and then queue up for everything else and get pretty similar value for a bit less. I think its worth it more at Alton Towers where fastrack is less used but to counter this theres long walks between rides so that reduces the value I guess. I will never buy a fast track at a UK park but with deals like at PortAventura where its like 40 euro for unlimited for a week its hard to say no. Foreign parks I would consider it but probably not full packages just 1 or 2 major rides with huge queues. I tend to just visit at less busy periods. -
Thought this would be the best place to post this, but "Великолукский мясокомбинат-2" has opened, also known as Velikoluksky Miasokombinat-2 which is like the Meat plant or something. To be fair despite the awful name they have sponsored two huge coasters at the park so they are definitely getting an excellent deal!

Thorpe Park 20 miles Legoland Windsor 21 miles Chessington World of Adventures 21 miles So basically the West London Merlin cluster Also this is quite helpful for anyone trying to find out or look for new parks to visit that are more under the radar. https://rcdb.com/lo.htm -

I am so excited, was visiting mainland Europe this year and I had almost lost hope (not that Phantasialand is bad but y'know, Sweden i'd prefer!) -

Is it becoming a garden. What a disappointment, how-come they cancelled the hotel? As you can probably tell from my avatar I quite liked the look of Eagle Fortress -

I think if this was the case, B&M would surely contact them about it right. They are allowed to refuse maintenance to Phaethon because of this if I am correct? I don't see why they should expect to get one of their other rides maintained if they build a knockoff. -

I actually don't think its funlight whoever they are. It appears to be a Lunapark FS model, maybe the same as this one that was at Southport Pleasureland. Its definitely this model because the funlight one has holes in the back of the seats, whereas this one has got it blocked off like the video you showed. The sign also looks similar but it may be a different ride i don't know. www.fun-fairs.co.uk/topic/78006-zz-unknown-xxl-nfaaf53/ -
Space World to close after the 2017 season

Well the park bought it and requested to have a ride like it, so S&S delivered. I don't really see a problem, the client wanted the product and they delivered it -
Best Drop Ride!!!
TheoB replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I may be in the minority but honestly, short drops are the ones that absolutely wow me. My favourite is Jolly Roger at Pleasurewood Hills in Norfolk. The drop on that thing is insane, hits 5.5G according to the park's website and drops 60 metres in 0.8 seconds supposedly. I don't believe that for a second but its still incredible. In second place I have got Detanator at Thorpe Park which is basically a shorter version of Jolly Roger then after that i'd put Apocalypse, hangover, power tower 2, hurakan condor and all the boring S&S towers (well the uk's are boring at least!) -
The Big One is definitely the star attraction and its mostly the busiest ride except on very hot days, where Valhalla will be the busiest mainly due to its low capacity. Please let this not be the case! Wild Mouse is still open, no clue where you got this information from. https://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/rides/wild-mouse/

TheoB replied to Colse35's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Most of the major parks in Australia are all owned by a chain, similarly to Merlin. Movieworld, Dreamworld/land? and this are all owned by village theme parks group plus maybe more I forgot. -

Thats exactly what I thought of too. I actually went and had a look around there in like 2012 and it was such a mess. We went through the place to go to the cinema in it I believe. The whole thing has gone now, who knows whats replacing it. -

TheoB replied to roeterich's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that is quite unfair to say honestly, like the idea of a single rider is that your single, not actually alone. There's nothing wrong with groups trying to fill seats especially on things like Mystery Castle if it has it, I am no Phantasialand expert but with 8 across? seating there will almost always be empty seats and often pairs. When I go to parks, normally as just a group of 2 we will often go in single rider lines. As long as groups don't expect to sit together, there is 0 problem. -

They stated that the manufacturer, I believe Mack made them change the height restriction. Not really sure why as nobody really stands up on log flumes. -

Having ridden airwolf it was a huge disappointment, it barely ever flipped unless you are held vertically and mainly just swung. The operations were like how you said though. Is there an actual park model, if so where is it? -

The thing is what I read on BBC News is that they cannot have belts incase it tips over, as there would be very little chance of someone not prepared surviving. People stand because they don't see the risk, but a restraint would be a clear reminder of the risk. You never see people take their belts off on rides. -

As tragic as this accident is, this part of the article pissed me off so much: So you're telling me that, because your son broke a rule THAT WAS POSTED ALL OVER THE SIGNS IN THE QUEUE, that you're gonna blame the park because of how they responded? And you're gonna say he's not at fault basically because he's just a kid? I have a five-year-old little sister, and she has no problem with following the rules. She even knows how to put her own belongings in a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo. See, these are the problems we have in America. It happens in Orlando a lot; person does something stupid, person suffers the consequences of said decision, park decides to try and help the person, and then the person criticizes the park due to it "not being safe" or some BS like that. People suck. Yeah I just read this article and came here to express my thoughts, this is honestly just negligence from the parents. Someone from coasterforce was also interviewed and a lawyer who both said the ride was very safe and the coasterforce guy even stated they didn't have seatbelts incase it toppled. The BBC is such a good news site as they always try and show non biased viewpoints and both sides of the argument. -
Drop tower accident injures 10

Another reason why I hate all the phones now going to giant tablet size and why I still have my cute little iPhone SE which I can perfectly operate in any orientation with one hand. I forget with these giant sized phones now you have to use two hands to hold it horizontally, which makes lazy people even more lazier. I refuse to have a phone bigger than what the iPhone 5 was. To me that was the PERFECT size phone and a "dazzling display of common sense." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O99m7lebirE Of course now that Steve Jobs is dead we have this crap... I really do run with the same logic, once my 5S dies, I will be switching to an SE. If you want a huge phone you may as well just get a cellular iPad, it will be half the price as well. Although drop towers are the one ride where a portrait photo does make sense for as its hard to capture the whole tower in one shot. -

There is 0 chance of it getting relocated, if someone took it on they would be out of their mind. -
Stand-Up coasters= A failed concept?
TheoB replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Would that idea be technically feasible? I'd sure as hell give it a go There'd probably be major balancing issues since you're dealing with three car types with different weights on the same train, plus like CoasterKid said there's the capacity issue. I think so long as separate queues operate for each ride type it shouldn't be too bad. I think 2:3:3 would also be better, a 6 car train would be a nightmare. Or 3:3:3 but that would be very long.
