The difference with sony Sony compared to Nintendo and the handhelds releasing updated versions of their consoles is with PS1 I think it was 5 years after the system was out and for PS2, it was 4 years so that doesn't seem as bad. I know even in the NES and SNES days, Nintendo re-designed their systems but they waited 5+ years for those as well (I think it was 8 years for the NES Toploader). I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if they spaced out these re-sdesigns more. Like an updated GBA in 2004 or 2005 and an updated DS in 1 1/2 - 2 years.

I agree. I am fed up with Nintendo and their re-designed systems. First they take the GBA and redesign it as the SP. Then they make another version as the Micro. That's 3 designs of the same system in less than 4 1/2 years! Now they take the DS and it's barely out for 14 months and already a re-design? It's like they want to screw over the early adopters, who I think help determine if a system is successful or not. What if everyone who bought a DS already had thought that they won't buy the system because they know a re-design will come out and will wait for that? I can't say I am surprised though. This is the same company that released 1/2 MB memory cards for Gamecube at launch for $14.99when the competition launched with 8MB cards for $34.99 (16 times the capacity for a little over twice the cost). It's also the same company that was charging $29.99 for all their Player's Choice games at one point when Sony and Microsoft have their budget line at $19.99 (at least Nintendo did lower their price to $19.99 as well).

Gillian's Funland Discussion Thread
YoshiFan replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Normally I would be excited about a new park but considering it's from the Steel Pier owners, I am not that optimistic. For those who have never been to the new Steel Pier (new in that there was an old one that was around in the early part of the century to the 60's or 70's), it almost seems like a run down carnival more than an amusement pier. There are skill games all over before you even walk in with the game booth workers asking everyone walking by to play and the games are rigged (oval rim for a basketball game). It's very expensive at $6 for 1 ride on the Crazy Mouse and the rides don't look like they are in the best shape. And who can forget the incident last summer where they ran the log flume without water in the trough which caused 4 or 5 riders to be ejected from the ride. Even though I spend most of my summer less than 15 minutes from Steel Pier, I don't even have the credit there because I don't feel safe going on rides there. I'll stick with Gillian's Wonderland Pier and Playland (both in Ocean City) and Morey's Piers for my sea shore park trips. -

You're right, the cars don't have screens. I was there at the end of October and there were no screens in the cars. -

Is Williams Grove Really Dead?

I think the raceway is staying open which is why they updated the website. Or it could be they didn't actually 100% decide to close yet. -
Pinfari 42 VS Vekoma SLC.
YoshiFan replied to krouvi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think either are that bad but I have only been on one of each (Python at Ocean City, NJ and Great Noreaster at Morey's). On the Pinfari, I don't think it's really rough if you sit in the last row. The OTSR's can sometimes hurt though. -
I hope it at least is there until the end of the year, I still want to try and get the credit before it leaves (since it seems doubtful it will be relocated). I know it will never happen for many reasons but it would be cool if they did put it in Sesame Place since it could be considered a good starter coater for someone wanting to try a coaster with inversions, and Sesame Place could use some more rides for days when it's too cold for the water slides/rides (which are the main attraction in the park)

I think their next coaster will be a smaller coaster, something like a family coaster. I'm kind of surprised they got rid of Wild Maus and just didn't relocate it somewhere else in the park because all 4 coasters they have now seem like thrill coasters (maybe not to an enthusisast, but to a regular person, they see it as 2 coasters that have inversions, a giant coaster [Apollo] and Big Bad Wolf appears to be thrilling for a suspended). Although not as bad, the same problem was at BGT 10 years ago. I remember visiting 10 years ago and EVERY coaster they had had inversions (Kumba, Montu, Python, Scorpion) which I think is kind of strange.

Six Flags Price Increases
YoshiFan replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree, gate prices and season passes shouldn't be so similar. At least with Dorney where the gate price during peak season is $36.99, you have to go 3 times for the season pass to be worth it unlike at Six Flags where it seems like the season pass price is less than 2 tickets purchased at gate price. -
Which is worse, Arrow or Vekoma?
YoshiFan replied to MLRC7 CP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Vekoma is worse although I really don't hate Arrow or Vekoma rides. The roughest coaster I have ever been on is a Boomerang so that's why I chose Vekoma. -

YoshiFan replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice photos. I like the old paint color of the Great Noreaster better but I guess tan is ok as well. Ocean City is the same way with the boardwalk dead. Other than 1 arcade, I don't think anything on the boardwalk there is open year around. I can't wait until Morey's opens up again, I was there last August and Great White was awesome and although I wasn't expecting to based on what I heard about SLC's, I liked the Great Noreaster as well. -

Rectangle, I hate when a park makes you drive one way and not allow head on collisions -

Six Flags Price Increases
YoshiFan replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
$59.99 for a one day pass is way too much. I know there are discounts available but a gate price for $59.99 for any Six Flags park is just way too much IMO. -
Nice photos. Whoever made that Yoshi for the fun house must have never seen what he really looks like. His stomach looks like an alligator's stomach!
