  1. Nice pictures. I like Ocean City a lot, enough that I go 5 - 6 times a summer. I also had the chance to ride the new coaster this past Monday, Overall I thought the ride is fun and a decent family coaster, not too intense but fun. I thought the ride forceless except for the last helix and it didn't go that fast. It's not something I would ride more than once a visit (since it's pay as you go), but for what it is, it was fun. I also wish they would have kept the City Jet because I thought that was a more fun ride and those Schwarkopz spiral lift hill rides are hard to find today. I prefer Playland to Gillian's because I'm not into flats that much and I think Playland has the better coasters. I didn't know adults could ride the Miner Mike without kids. I don't have that credit yet but I'm not sure I have the guts to ride that coaster (I rode the kiddie coaster at Playland over Memorial Day weekend and it was uncomfortable being the only person over the age of 8 riding alone)
  2. I'm just going to list Dorney because that's the only park I have been to more than once this year, with 3 trips so far: Hydra: 8 Talon: 11 Steel Force: 4 (would have been more but closed on opening day) Laser: 3 Thunderhawk: 4 Wild Mouse: 2
  3. I have only been to Dorney alone and luckily because of the non existant lines, there really isn't a time when I have had the chance to talk with people in lines. I also like to listen in on conversations like the group that was waiting in the station for Thunderhawk and one of the friends insisted they were in line for Steel Force
  4. I really hope this isn't going to become a trend. Sea shore parks have a different feel than a regular park and it's I always look forward to going to the Jersey shore parks every summer. I'd hate not to be able to go to Morey's or the piers in Ocean City in a few years because they want to build houses/condos there.
  5. When I saw the picture of Pump It Up in the arcade, I thought, how could Disney get rid of the DDR Disney's Rave, arcade machine since a Disney DDR game fits in with Disney World a lot more than Pump It Up. I just looked and found out it was moved to the back of the arcade. Nice pictures, I like that one of Space Mountain at the end where it looks like the front of the rocket is glowing
  6. I voted They're OK. I have only been on Great Nor'Easter and it's a decent ride. I'd take a B&M invert over it anyday but I plan to ride the SLC every time I go to Morey's
  7. Nice photos. I was watching those auctions and out of the 500 spots available it looked like less than 25 or so actually sold. I would have went since it was so easy to win the auction (3 hours of ERT with so few people, admission and parking would have been worth $100) but I couldn't get there that day.
  8. Not my pictures: It's an L&T systems coaster
  9. The coaster at Gillian's in Ocean City is completed, I think it's open but not 100% sure on that (was at Ocean City memorial day weekend but did not get to Gillian's). Gillian's also added a Wacky Worm last year so even if the new coaster isn't open, you can still get a credit (adults can ride without a kid)
  10. Easy decision for me, Hersheypark. Not only is it my favorite park in PA, it's my favorite park (not counting Disney parks). An great wooden coaster collection and a decent steel coaster selection -something from almost every major manufacturer; Intamin, B&M, Arrow, Schwarkopz, Mack, Vekoma and just an overall nice atmosphere.
  11. Nice pictures, seeing the moon reflection on the ocean really makes me want to go to the shore (I love being at the sote and looking out the window at night and just staring at the moon and the ocean). Ok, maybe the sea shore piers with coasters have something to do with me wanting to go to the shore as well
  12. I never considered getting it because I already have Guitar Freaks 1st and 2nd Mix for PS1 (Konami's guitar game series that they never released in the US other than in arcades). Because it sounds so good, I'll get it eventually but I'm waiting for a good deal before I buy it (under $30)
  13. Nice pictures, that queue set up for Headspin looks crazy (so many switchbacks). I'd hate to think how long the wait would be with a full queue.
  14. My favorite is the lap bar on Schwarkopz loopers My least favorite are the OTSR's on Pinfari Loopers, even without pulling the restraint that far, it still hurts your shoulders after the ride.
  15. The drop tower is on top of some mountain, so the top of the tower is the tallest but the actual tower itself is not the tallest drop ride.
  16. Employees on a power trip? (since it sounds like there is no official policy or else it would be constantly enforced).
  17. Nice photos, I'm the same way with lines, I hate them and do everything I can to get to parks during non peak times because anything over 10 - 15 minutes is too long of a wait for me.
  18. Either Le Mans at BGW or Grand Prix Raceway/Tomorrowland Speedway at WDW
  19. I think it's important but not as important as the rides themselves. I'll admit when I go to a park with little to no themeing like Dorney, it does seems kind of bland with just concrete everywhere, little trees and a fountain but I'm more concerned about getting on coasters then thinking about how nice it is themed.
  20. If you want to be sure the shoes don't fly off, tie them tightly before you get in line or double knot them. I always check my sneakers before I get in line for an invert or floorless to see if they are loose because I'd hate to lose them.
  21. Yes it's for line cutting, the tickets are supposed to go in sequence, so if someone has ticket 503, then the next person has 504 and the next person has 557 and the next person has 505 for example, the person collection the tickets will know that the person with 557 cut in line.
  22. It looks like you were really lucky to get on KK with the way the weather was in addition to the regular chance of KK having non rain problems. It's too bad you didn't get to Dorney especially because even with just doing the twilight admission (or whatever it is called), you could probably get all 8 credits there (everything but the Little Laser which is strictly under 54" only) in less than 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
  23. I stopped at South of the Border once a few years ago and the place screamed "Tourist Trap." a 5 minute stop was enough and even if the park and coaster ever opens again (doubt it as it has been SBNO for years), I wouldn't even be comfortable about riding it (safety).
  24. I have heard with Pteradon Flyers, it's best to try right when the park opens but I'm not sure if that always works Was it this ride that you couldn't ride at La Ronde: http://www.laronde.com/en/maneges/FTechManege.asp?Manege=27 ? Doesn't look like there is a maximum height restrcition so it sounds like the ride ops were on a power trip It really annoys me that some parks won't let adults ride kiddie coasters if adults are allowed to ride but only with a kid. If a park wants to say no adults then I really don't have a problem with that (like saying 54" maximum no exceptions), but if they say, anyone over 54" must ride with someone under 54", it doesn't seem right because the ride can obviously safely accomodate someone over 54" and if someone over 54" really wants to ride that badly, they should be allowed to. Those coasters rarely have a line so it's not like it's holding up the line to let a few people over 54" ride (how many people over 54" other than people who count coasters would want to ride anyway?) The Gemini Jr. story you mentioned is the perfect example. Adults can ride if they ride with someone under 54", there doesn't seem any really great reason for Cedar Point to not allow someone over 54" to ride alone, especially if there was no one else riding
