My college is a 7 minute drive from my house. If that's not strange enough, the campus is about a 2 minute drive from my high school.

I haven't played it yet but I plan to eventually, it looks like a lot ot fun. I'm not surprised to hear that there are complaints about the game and that people want it banned as I was expecting that to happen as soon as I saw a preview of the game in a game magazine a while ago.

Nice pictures, I don't think I have ever seen Space Mountain with a 5 minute wait before. -

What is the worst B&M/intamin/GCI
YoshiFan replied to christianscoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on 1 Intamin, Skull Mountain, and 2 GCI's, Lightning Racers and Wildcat. Worst B&M I have been on is Hydra but I like the ride a lot, it's just that every other B&M I have been on is excellent and I consider Hydra to be very good. 2012 Update Worst Intamin: I have yet to ride a bad Intamin coaster but my least favorite is Possessed Worst B&M: Hydra, the ride is ok but the ride rattles almost the entire time now and I can only tolerate 1 ride per trip to Dorney now because of it Worst GCI: Gwazi, I only have ridden the Tiger side but it was horrible. The entire ride was rough and gave me a really bad headache and that was with the new trains. -
Holidays at Themeparks
YoshiFan replied to FlippyTrick09's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. I like Halloween events because the haunted houses take lines away from the coasters which I am at the park for (I don't like the haunted mazes/houses) and some rides are more interesting. A plain train ride can be a lot more fun when they have actors hiding along the track jumping out trying to scare you. On the other hand, I don't like how holiday events take the place of other events. At Disneyworld, if you go during December they only have the Christmas parade (not counting Specromagic) and don't offer the standard parade which is something you can't see that time of year. -
all the parks are closed
YoshiFan replied to Shmoclo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hersheypark will be open in around 3 weeks until the end of December but no coasters are open and a very limited amount of flats and non kiddie rides are open. -
Photo TR: Dorney Park Closing Day (BACT style)
YoshiFan replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice photos. I was there on both Saturday and Sunday and it was dissapointing that Talon and Hydra were closed so much of both days. Did you see Steel Force's line earlier in the day? 4 or 5 switchbacks were full and I heard it was a 45 minute wait. With only 1 train running and with Talon and Hydra closed at the time I believe it (thankfully it was only 10 minutes later in the day). With 1 train operations on every coaster except Wild Mouse yesterday, the waits were a lot worse than I expected. -
I like this idea for a topic since I always know of deals but I don't want to post them if it's considered spam. $5 off $5 at FamilyVideo.com, new customers only (they are enforcing this): Use Coupon Code NEWMEM96 I have driven by that place a few times and always wonder why it's so crowded all the time. Never been in there though.

I would have liked to seen ITG 2 released for PS2 just so I can play some of the songs that were in past DDR games with a faster frame rate (since I think ITG 2 had some Dancemania songs that were in DDR songs as well). The thing I hated about ITG was that the first arcade release used the actual Konami cabinets. DDR machines are very hard to find in my area and I hated the idea of a rare mix (anything other than Extreme at the time) being turned into an ITG machine. Otherwise, I won't miss the series. I have ITG 1 for PS2 and it's difficult to the point where it's not fun anymore (having to hit 4 panels at once for example)

Lethal Weapon Pursuit closed for good

Those pictures of the vertical loops side by side look cool before they were enclosed. -
It sounds like a lot of fun for kids. I always enjoyed school trips to places like science museums and this sounds even better.

I don't understand why RT always has one train operation. It's bad enough only 1 side is ever open but with 1 train on 1 side, it's running at 1/4th capacity. I bet that line was easily an hour to an hour and a half. I have waited for the left side when it's slightly into the 1st switchback and 2 trains running and it was 20 minutes.
-
The only time the park gets crowded and even then it's not considered long lines for an amusement park is a weekend in July and August. I went on a Sunday in August this year and Talon was 40 minutes, Hydra was 15 minutes, Laser was 20 minutes, Steel Force was 12 minutes (3 trains), Thunderhawk was 5 minutes and Wild Mouse was about 45 min - 1 hour (did not wait for that one). The problem is that when you are used to 0 - 5 minute waits, a 40 minute or even a 15 minute wait seems to take forever.
-
I agree that it won't be crowded. I have been to the park every weekend since Labor Day (except for the weekend it was closed to the public) and my longest wait has been 10 minutes for Steel Force. I love the lack of crowds and usually average about 6 rides an hour including walking to each ride and having to walk through the empty queue each time. Last Sunday it was so dead I even had a solo ride on Dominator. I think the must rides are: Talon, Hydra, Steel Force, Laser, Wild Mouse, Thunderhawk, Whip and Dominator.
-
It's going to be packed the weekend of the 28th, the 29th probably won't be much better. I was considering going to the park this month but decided to hold off on going until April next year when it will hopefully be somewhat dead (30+ minute lines are bad enough for me so I have no patience to stand in line for 2 - 3 hours or purchase a Q-Bot).

What's next, kickball? How about getting rid of swings from playgrounds since a kid could get hit by another kid's foot. It's sad that this is what has happened because everyone is so sue happy.

Photo TR: HersheyPark and Dorney Park
YoshiFan replied to havenli's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Did you ride Laser? That has an even slower lift hill, especially at the beginning. It's so slow that it takes a good 4 - 5 minutes from one dispatch to the next even though the part after the lift hill until the brakes is around 30 seconds. -

The Sky Ride at Hersheypark 1974-1992
YoshiFan replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember going on the ride I guess in the late 80's/early 90's but don't remember much other than thinking it had similar cars to the ride at WDW (as opposed to the ride still at Hershey and Dutch Wonderland where your feet hang). -
And they still run Music Express and The Whip in a thunderstorm (except for when the power went out this summer while I was on the Whip) which was surprising since I would think every ride would haev been closed in a thunderstorm
