CCron10's 2006 Theme Park TR's
YoshiFan replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sitting in that Comet car in the Hershey Museum was the most fun part of the museum for me. Christmas Candylane would be so much better if they had a coaster or two open. -
Actually they released it for PS2 and Gamecube as well so you could get it for one of those systems if you have them. Plus, Crazy Taxi 3 was released for XBox which has the main level from Crazy Taxi 1, the small level from Crazy Taxi 2 and a new Las Vegas level (which was designed horribly unfortunately).

Méga Parc - Québec - Photo TR
YoshiFan replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice photos, that mall looks so cool. The northeastern US could use a mall like that during the way too long of an offseason we have. -
I think rather than taking away family rides/attractions for thrill rides now like how World of Motion was replaced with Test Track and Horizons was replaced with Mission Space and Food Rocks was replaced with Soarin (to most people Soarin isn't a thrill ride but Food Rocks was something anyone could see, Soarin is almost like a regular motion simulator), they should build the seperate park for thrill rides and leave the current family rides alone. Almost every addition to Disney recently has been a thrill ride (again I'mrestrictions or a ride that someone who only rides tame attractions could not ride), Everest, Mission Space, Primevial Whirl, Rock N Roller Coaster, using the term thrill ride in this case as anything that has major medical Tower of Terror etc. Other than a few dark rides that were redone (Buzz and Pooh), and the Dumbo clones, Disney hasn't added many tame rides and that was what Disneyland was orginally supposed to be about, rides that everyone in the family could ride together. It's not that I think Disney should stop building thrill rides, I just think they need to keep adding tame rides as well.

I'm not sure about the first 2, but the best time to visit would be a weekday in May. The park is supposedly empty at that time of year.

Samba De Amigo 1 came out in the US. The sequel was only released in Japan though. The official Sega maracas only had 10,000 sets released in the US and they were impossible to find. I ended up paying a ridiculous $112 with shipping from FAO Schwarz for them because they were the only site to still have them in stock and all stores (if they got any to begin with) were sold out.

Dreamcast was awesome. I love arcade games and between all the Midway and Sega arcade ports for the system, I had a ton of games to play (I have about 30 Dreamcast games). I hate how the system had such a short life because so many people were unwilling to give the system a chance and that EA didn't support the system (I'd take the NFL 2K series over Madden anyday but unfortunately a system needs EA to survive)

Favorite type of B&M Coaster?
YoshiFan replied to MummyAW's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Inverted, I have only been on Inverted and Floorless and I love B&M Inverts. Of my top 3 steel, 2 are B&M inverts. -
If they have the larger seats, then that helps a lot. It would be nice if parks with the older B&M inverts that don't have the larger seats (Raptor, BTR clones etc.) would get at least 1 larger seat per train. At Dorney I see people needing those seats all the time. The other issue is newer B&M's (both inverts and floorless) and ones that got new restraints/belts have shorter belts. I read on RRC earlier this year that Alpengeist got shorter belts this year and I know for a fact Hydra's belts are shorter than Talon's.

My college is a 7 minute drive from my house. If that's not strange enough, the campus is about a 2 minute drive from my high school.

I haven't played it yet but I plan to eventually, it looks like a lot ot fun. I'm not surprised to hear that there are complaints about the game and that people want it banned as I was expecting that to happen as soon as I saw a preview of the game in a game magazine a while ago.

What is the worst B&M/intamin/GCI
YoshiFan replied to christianscoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on 1 Intamin, Skull Mountain, and 2 GCI's, Lightning Racers and Wildcat. Worst B&M I have been on is Hydra but I like the ride a lot, it's just that every other B&M I have been on is excellent and I consider Hydra to be very good. 2012 Update Worst Intamin: I have yet to ride a bad Intamin coaster but my least favorite is Possessed Worst B&M: Hydra, the ride is ok but the ride rattles almost the entire time now and I can only tolerate 1 ride per trip to Dorney now because of it Worst GCI: Gwazi, I only have ridden the Tiger side but it was horrible. The entire ride was rough and gave me a really bad headache and that was with the new trains. -
Holidays at Themeparks
YoshiFan replied to FlippyTrick09's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. I like Halloween events because the haunted houses take lines away from the coasters which I am at the park for (I don't like the haunted mazes/houses) and some rides are more interesting. A plain train ride can be a lot more fun when they have actors hiding along the track jumping out trying to scare you. On the other hand, I don't like how holiday events take the place of other events. At Disneyworld, if you go during December they only have the Christmas parade (not counting Specromagic) and don't offer the standard parade which is something you can't see that time of year. -
all the parks are closed
YoshiFan replied to Shmoclo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hersheypark will be open in around 3 weeks until the end of December but no coasters are open and a very limited amount of flats and non kiddie rides are open. -
Photo TR: Dorney Park Closing Day (BACT style)
YoshiFan replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice photos. I was there on both Saturday and Sunday and it was dissapointing that Talon and Hydra were closed so much of both days. Did you see Steel Force's line earlier in the day? 4 or 5 switchbacks were full and I heard it was a 45 minute wait. With only 1 train running and with Talon and Hydra closed at the time I believe it (thankfully it was only 10 minutes later in the day). With 1 train operations on every coaster except Wild Mouse yesterday, the waits were a lot worse than I expected. -
I like this idea for a topic since I always know of deals but I don't want to post them if it's considered spam. $5 off $5 at FamilyVideo.com, new customers only (they are enforcing this): Use Coupon Code NEWMEM96 I have driven by that place a few times and always wonder why it's so crowded all the time. Never been in there though.

I would have liked to seen ITG 2 released for PS2 just so I can play some of the songs that were in past DDR games with a faster frame rate (since I think ITG 2 had some Dancemania songs that were in DDR songs as well). The thing I hated about ITG was that the first arcade release used the actual Konami cabinets. DDR machines are very hard to find in my area and I hated the idea of a rare mix (anything other than Extreme at the time) being turned into an ITG machine. Otherwise, I won't miss the series. I have ITG 1 for PS2 and it's difficult to the point where it's not fun anymore (having to hit 4 panels at once for example)

Those pictures of the vertical loops side by side look cool before they were enclosed.
