  1. That seems to be happening with all the recent park purchases with Cedar Fair. They are doing the same thing with Dorney. Taking away so much that was classic to the park (rides, buildings and atmosphere). I hate that no re-ride policy as well. It just doesn't make sense, I know their reasoning is that if they let some people re-ride, others will complain they didn't get a chance to if their row had people in it but I think re-rides should be allowed on a day by day basis. Maybe a rule if the train is less than 1/2 full, allow re-rides or something like that.
  2. --Your 2005 year in review: Went to Ocean City, NJ (Playland and Gillian's) multiple times, Dorney once, Hershey twice and Morey's once. It was a big coaster year for me because I had a lot of firsts: First invert, First B&M, First Floorless, First coaster with an inversion other than a loop, First Boomerang etc. --Your first coaster of the year: Flitzer at Playland --Your last coaster of the year: SooperDooperLooper at Hershey --Best new steel to me: Talon --Best new wood to me: Great White --Best new water ride to me: Zoom Phloom at Morey's --Best new dark ride/walk through to me: Alien ride at Gillian's (only new dark ride I went on this year) --Best new park to me: Morey's Piers --Best park "moment" of the year: Pulling into the parking lot at Dorney in September and seeing the parking lot had maybe 300 cars in it. --Best overall park "trip" of the year: October 30th trip to Hershey where no coaster had more than a 10 minute wait --Worst new attraction (any kind) to me of the year: Sea Serpent (Boomerang) at Morey's --Favorite TPR post/thread of the year: The Asia trip thread --Best Amusement related news of the year: New Dark Ride for Hershey --Worst Amusement related news of the year: Astroworld Closing --Hopes for 2006: Finally getting to Cedar Point. Getting the credits I missed at Hershey, Dorney and Morey's Piers.
  3. I wish Gold Q-Bots at Great Adventure were that cheap. For 1 person it's $68, 2 people $101, 3 people $134 etc.
  4. When I was there 2 years ago during that same week, the only machine that I saw all day that had passes available was for Terminator. Everything else was gone for the day and that was at around 10:00 a.m. (when I got to the park). Based on that, it sounds like the free pases were very limited anyway so I can understand if they did get rid of them.
  5. Wow, I didn't realize the admission was so expensive to begin with (for my last 3 vists to WDW I had an annual pass) but $67 (with tax) for 1 day admission to WDW. That seems ridiculous.
  6. That is horrible that he said that. Obviously if they offer a single rider line there are going to be people in that line who aren't with anyone else they know and be alone. I hope he gets fired (but I doubt it).
  7. I like the ride the way it is but I can see why they want to update it. They said the ending will be different which I understand since it's kind of plain and boring with those pictures of people enjoying Hershey products.
  8. I consider MAXAir to be a thrill ride. Same with Apollo's Chariot. What I consider a family ride to be is a ride that can be enjoyed by almost anyone, such as the new dark ride, the antique and sports cars, kissing tower, monorail, train etc.
  9. The thing that concerns me about the Blue Shark is that it's a MyMyBox pad. I know their older metal pads were horrible. It looks interesting and I hope it does last for years like the Cobalt Flux does.
  10. Extreme 2 and Ultramix 2 have different songlists I think Cobalt Flux is the next best thing to having an arcade pad or machine in your house. Yeah the arcade pad is better but there is only 1 pad that's just as good, the official Konamistyle Arcade Style DDR pad, only 1000 made and it cost around $2000!, pictures and info here: http://psx.ign.com/articles/085/085395p1.html I tried for a while to buy an arcade machine but they are way out of my price range so I settled on a Japanese PS2 and a Cobalt Flux combination (because I hated how all my favorite songs from the arcade mixes were constantly being left out of the US games and it gave me a chance to try other music games from Konami like Pop N Music, Guitar Freaks, Keyboardmania etc. which Konami refuses to release here). I used to be really obsessed with DDR (have 23 games including 3 versions for Gameboy Color with a dance pad for the Gameboy Color that fits over the system for your fingers), but I lost interest in the series since Konami stopped releasing arcade versions of the game.
  11. I sometimes go out of my way to ride kiddie coasters now that I started counting coasters as credits. I wouldn't pay a lot to get into a park (like Storybookland in NJ for $17) just to get a credit on a kiddie coaster but in a pay as you go park where it might only be $2 or $3 to ride, I'll go on it to get the credit.
  12. I really am glad that Hershey is adding a dark ride so I am excited about their 06 plans. I'm not so sure about the theme but I really like Buzz Lightyear Spaceranger's Spin at WDW so having another shooting dark ride closer to home sounds great. As for 07, I really don't care about the water park since it seems like it won't be that much more than a few play areas and a slide. Water slides have horrible capacity and if there are very few, then the lines will be ridiculous considering how popular rides like Roller Soaker and the other water rides already are. If Hershey wants to build a full size water park, then I think that's great but I think it should be away from the main park (even if it wasn't a seperate gate, then keep it like Dorney where it's away from the amusement area). I also think you may be right about the water park going to Dutch Wonderland instead. They keep adding to that Duke's Lagoon area and that part of the park seems very crowded with the wet dry slides being popular as well so it would make sense if they added some real waterslides and other areas to make it a bigger waterpark.
  13. That POV made the ride look kind of boring. It still looks like it's interesting but nothing it would seem that the view is more exciting than the ride.
  14. I would like to see parks offer the option of a covered splash boat. Like if they have 3 boats running, maybe run 2 without covers and 1 with a cover. That way on days you don't want to get soaking wet or when it is too cold out to get that wet, you can still go on the ride and enjoy the drop.
  15. Rained here as well. I don't like rain but I hate snow even more.
  16. That looks a lot better. I didn't know they painted it again
  17. That sucks it is being removed. I was looking forward to riding it whenever I get to Vegas (hoping within the next 5 years)
  18. I really don't like the color scheme of Batman The Ride at Great Adventure: http://www.rcdb.com/ig32.htm?picture=7 I like the old colors better: http://www.rcdb.com/ig32.htm?picture=3
  19. I feel the same way. I have never been to the area but I know I will go eventually but not sure if I will go to Knott's or not. I really have a bad impression about the place from what I have read from bad operations (like the 1 train empty, 1 train full on Jaguar and many 1 train operation coasters), rude employees like the ones mentioned in this T/R and just a whole negative attitude about the place.
  20. Even if Steel Force is old, it's still popular. On my last visit to Dorney, it had more people in line than any other coaster (still only a 3 train wait but all the trains were full compared to Hydra and Talon which had trains that were barely 1/2 full and had 1 train waits). When it opened, those overflows were used. I think when I was there in 1997 or 1998 the wait was 45 minutes.
  21. The last concert I went to was Green Day on 9/7/05 in Philadelphia.
  22. Hot Dog and Soda combo for $1.50 at Costco.
  23. 1. Magic Kingdom (WDW) 2. Hersheypark 3. Epcot 4. Dorney 5. Busch Gardens Williamsburg 6. Morey's Piers 7. MGM Studios (WDW) 8. Dutch Wonderland 9. Universal Studios Florida 10. Playland's Castaway Cove
  24. First coaster, Flitzer at Playland (Ocean City, NJ), April 2005 Last coaster (unless I got to Disney at the end of this week), Sooperdooperlooper at Hersheypark, October 30th, 2005 Highlights: Going on my first invert, hyper, floorless, going on a coaster with an inversion other than a loop, and also my first time on a B&M coaster, first boomerang, first time going on a coaster in it's opening year (Hydra).
  25. It sucks no other Six Flags park wanted them with some of the smaller parks not having a new coaster in 5+ years. Seems better than just throwing them out.
