  1. I know we're supposed to be patient and let the park open it when they want to so it'll be safe...blah, blah, blah. Screw it! Just put me on the damn thing and let me be the crash test dummy. I just want to ride! I was there in March, waiting all of April, was planning on going May 14th, but seeing how it's still all hush hush...I guess I'll shoot for a Memorial Day Weekend visit now. If it doesn't open in May, I doubt I'll get to ride LR this year. I got too many other trips planned. I gave you three months Dolly! Sorry, but there's other new coasters out there ready to be rode.
  2. Awesome Report! I've only been to Kings Dominion once, but I absolutely loved the park! We were planning on going back in May, but since Dollywood is opening Lightning Rod in May, we decided to push Kings Dominion trip back until September. I honestly can't wait to go back. I swear, I still have the hardest time trying figure out which is better, I305 or Fury 325. I305 is freaking amazing! Can't wait to ride it again.
  3. Great TR! I've been going to SFOG since I was a little kid and I sometimes take it for granted, not seeing how great of a park it really is. It's always nice to hear from somebody that has never been there and really enjoyed it. It helps bring back my enthusiasm for the park and makes me appreciate it a little more. Here lately, I've been finding everything wrong with the park instead of looking for everything right with the park. I guess that's just because I've been there so many times and occasionally get bored with the same thing. But for reals, deep down, I love the park. I have a membership to the park. I want the park to be great. And when I see somebody enjoy the park, it makes me happy. Glad you had a great time, dude.
  4. I'm thinking Michigan's Adventure is more like Six Flags Great Escape...Not SFA.
  5. Why isn't there an Intamin Rattle directory. Every Intamin I've ever rode rattles.
  6. Probably Dollywood on May 7th...If LR is open. If not, probably Six Flags White Water.
  7. I guess the closest "real" roller coaster to me is Rampage at Alabama Splash Adventure. It's about an 1 1/2 hours away from me. But my season passes are for SFOG, Dollywood and Carowinds. Alabama Splash Adventure is like maybe once a year type park at most if that.
  8. Yes, I've been on Raging Bull along with the rest of the B&M hypers here in the states. Intimidator is still last on my hyper list. Also, I had the same opinion of intimidator before Fury was built. It's not a bad coaster at all, just the weakest of the B&M hypers. ...what a waste after the mcbr. From 10:00am-3pm Intimidator's line was noticeably longer. I went on each ride about 5 times during that time using fast pass +. So I was walking past each line quite a bit in those 5 hours. I had to head out after that. From what I noticed Saturday, the queue was never full for Intimidator at any time Saturday. Every time I went to Fury it was full. I rode Intimidator 3 times Saturday, and never waited more than 30 minutes. I waited close to an hour every time I rode Fury except for the end of the night. Now I did hang out more by the Taste of the Carolinas early in the day, but I was there at the park all day long. On a busy day, you'll ride Intimidator before you'll ride Fury. You'll ride both before you ride Nighthawk. lol. I'm like you, I've rode all the B&M hypers here in the states and I still would put Intimidator above Raging Bull and Nitro. To me, the only good B&M hyper the Six Flags chains have here in the states is Goliath at SFOG. IMO. The thing different with Fury and Intimidator, is that they're better front seat coasters. A lot of hypers are usually better on the back...But I studied them pretty good over my two day visit. The front is where it's at on both coasters.
  9. I would disagree on Intimidator being dead last of B&M hypers. Have you rode Raging Bull at SFGAm? I would say that one is the worst. Intimidator gets great airtime and is a great coaster. Yeah, anybody would be thinking Intimidator was lame after riding Fury. But Fury is probably the best coaster on the planet. Just my opinion, but Intimidator is a great ride. Also, ride it at night too...You won't be disappointed. And I was there also last Saturday as well as Friday. Got about twenty rides on Fury Friday but only about two or three on Saturday. Fury's line will be packed on the weekend but a walk on during the week. But the line does move fast. But Intimidator's line was not longer than Fury's Saturday. Yeah, the dispatch is slower, but it still moves pretty good.
  10. I see SFOG got together with BGW and decided giving the public three horrible names to pick was fun. American Eagle? Blue Hawk? Air Commander? I realize American Eagle is already a name SF already has in another park...But still, I hate them all.
  11. I checked it a few hours ago and it hadn't changed and just checked it now and it has indeed changed. Wasn't expecting the two new rides to be that far apart from each other. Not that it's an issue...I just thought they would be closer. I also see they replaced Dinosaurs with Robinson Crusoe for an upcharge on the map. Still curious to see with what they do with Skyrider's space in the future. Possibly a waterpark expansion?
  12. Dang! This park's operating schedule sucks! I was going to visit this park three years ago while I was at Cedar Point but it just didn't work out. So, I thought I would plan a visit again this year, but the park is only open for like three months. June, July, and August. Does the weather suck that bad to only get three months of operation? It'd be nice if it was open in October when I visit Cedar Point again...But no. No wonder this park never gets anything.
  13. I like the coaster's layout. Not too concerned with the height restriction. I think the park will hear people's concerns and build a coaster for 42 inch kids soon. It's clear that Busch Gardens is wanting to boost their coaster count. Both parks will have 8 each by next year. I'll be patient with the park and trust that they'll fill in the missing pieces of what's needed. They already have a lot...anything more is just icing on the cake.
  14. Because those two things are entirely unrelated and it's up to Cedar Fair's best discretion (which is better than yours and mine and everyone on this site) what will get them the best return on investment. And no, the state of Ohio is not "stealing" Canada's Wonderland's new coasters. Maybe it's a pattern. 2013 - Cedar Point New Coaster 2014 - Kings Island New Coaster 2015- Carowinds New Coaster 2016 - Cedar Point New Coaster 2017 - Kings Island New Coaster (If true) 2018 - Carowinds New Coaster ??? (I would love for this to be a wooden coaster if true)
  15. Or you could go anyway and enjoy the park regardless if Lightning Rod is open or not. I only live 4 hours from Dollywood. So, it's not a big deal to go. I can literally just drive there and back in a day without bothering with a hotel. If LR isn't open, I'll just stay home.
  16. My family and I will be at the park next weekend on the 15th and 16th. Anybody that's familiar with the area, will Spring Break still be going on in the North Carolina and South Carolina region? Hoping for lighter crowds, and that everybody has had their fun and gone back home or doing their last minute taxes with no time for fun. I know I ask for too much, but Spring Break crowds suck. Either way, we'll be at the park with or without the herd. As of right now, the long range forecast is looking pretty decent...So, yeah...Weather nice = Crap load of people. I guess we'll see.
  17. Well, I gave Dollywood a shot on March 26th and LR was not ready. So now, it's time for a second chance. I'll be at the park May 14th...*crosses fingers and prays to every god there is even though I don't believe in praying*...PLEASE BE READY THIS TIME LR! I WANT TO RIDE!!
  18. Woah woah woah slow down there. That's like four years from now can you really trust vague rumors that far out? I also think KD would get a coaster sooner because that would be ten years and I am surprised they didn't get a new coaster this year. Well if you think that rumor is too much try this one on for size. Carowinds ships their Dinosaurs Live to CGA and Carowinds gets a new GCI in that spot in 2018. I'm even thinking Cedar Point gets a new CGI in 2020. But sadly, still no new coaster for Valleyfair. You heard it here first.
  19. I'm wondering if they'll use Son of Beast's old station for the new B&M Giga gate coaster rumored for 2017 or 2018? If so, it's gonna be one long ride...Possibly longer than Fury 325? Maybe they even use the Son of Beast name. If the rumors are true, it's going to be interesting.
  20. Well seeing how there is rumors out there for Kings Island getting a B&M gate coaster next year and Canada's Wonderland getting a B&M invert the year after that means it'll probably 2019 before CGA see's their next big coaster. In the meantime, I bet we'll see a Vortex conversion and waterpark additions.
  21. With this new development coming to light for California's Great America, I can only see it postponing Valleyfair getting a massive B&M gate coaster. But I do believe we'll still see VF get a waterpark expansion in the next two years. Cedar Point will get theirs first in 2017, but I think 2018 will be the year VF gets their expansion. There are rumors out there that Kings Island will get their B&M gate coaster next year followed by Canada's Wonderland getting a B&M invert in 2018. CGA will probably get their B&M in 2019. Which means VF will be competing with Kings Dominion for a B&M in 2020. My money is on Kings Dominion. It's just my opinion, but I don't see Valleyfair getting a major coaster anytime soon.
  22. Went to SFOG yesterday and I was amazed. Not amazed in a good way, amazed in a bad way. It was raining yesterday and most rides were closed. No, that didn't amaze me. What did amaze me was that the rides were wide open. Gates were wide open, not closed off and no park attendee was present at the ride. Any joe blow could walk right up to the ride and do whatever because it wasn't closed off. Just for craps and giggles, I walked right up to the Joker Coaster and stood next to the ride itself and nobody was around or looked, or seemed to care. Seriously, I was worried. I have a season pass to this park and anybody could do damage to this ride or any other ride that wasn't being watched. So I went up to a worker and told them my concern. I walked down there later and still didn't see anyone. This park needs a management overhaul. Yes, I understand it was Easter, and it was a rainy day, but still...At least rope the ride off. Just don't leave it open with no supervision. I am worried about SFOG. Carowinds has three train operations on Fury 325 and Intimidator but SFOG can't get but one train going on Goliath? I am going to write the park with my concerns but something tells me nothing will be done. And I'm not sure if this is a SFOG problem or a Six Flags problem. Either way, they need to step up their game.
  23. Well I just got back from the Smokies and I think this is the first time I never visited Dollywood on a Smokies trip. I just have to say, Dollywood doesn't make the Smokies. I had an awesome time without visiting Dollywood. Didn't think I would, but I did. I finally got to ride all the Alpine Coasters. The two in Pigeon Forge are wonderful. The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is the best! Ober Gatlinburg's coaster is horrible. Save your money, forget Ober Gatlinburg. But if you must go, don't ride the tram...unless you enjoy waiting a long time, paying a lot of money and getting packed in like sardines with somebody beside you with terrible body odor. In short, skip Ober Gatlinburg, but ride the other three alpine coasters. Tons of other things to do, but I won't get into it. As for Dollywood, Yes, I do plan on going this year. But seeing how I've been there many times, I'll just wait for Lightning Rod to open first...Which I hope is soon. That coaster looks amazing and Dollywood is in desperate need for a airtime juggernaut. Yes, I know Thunderhead is great and all with bits of airtime, but something tells me, Dollywood's premium jewel will be Lightning Rod.
  24. I got my season pass and I'll be there in April. Can't wait to try out Plants v Zombies. And it doesn't bother me when somebody says their not visiting the park because of whatever reason...Just means there's less people there and less time I have to wait in line for Fury 325.
