Hi, I'm going to be in New York July 4th - July 9th (Sat - Thurs) and I have a 4 hour wrist band that allows me to ride all I want at Luna Park. I was just curious, what day would you suggest I visit on so I can get the most out of my 4 hours? I'm assuming it'll be Mon - Thurs visit, but would like to pick the day with the least crowds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm going to SFFT for my first time Sunday, May 17th. I was just curious how large crowds will be on this day. Would any of suggest a Flash Pass or do the park without one. I don't have to ride the rides a hundred times, I just want to hit everything at least once. Hopefully Iron Rattler atleast twice (front and back). Can it be done without a flash pass on Sunday? Also, what would you suggest riding first due to long lines and saving for last for rides that lines move faster on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm going to SFOT for my first time Friday, May 15th. We're going to try to do it without flash passes since this will be a day that kids will still be in school. I'm hoping crowds will be lite. Any suggestions on what to ride first and what to save for last due to lines? Since we're only getting one day here, and without flash passes, I would like to ride all the long line rides first when the park opens to avoid the lines. For things that the lines move faster on, I'll hit them last. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, there's a lot of coasters in that general area. That's why I think it has to be a wing rider because it's the only thing unique to that area. But if KD does get a B&M, I hope it's launched, whether it be a wing or flyer. -

I hadn't thought of a flying coaster before. No Cedar Fair park has built a B&M flying coaster yet. They got the two vekomas in Kings Island and Carowinds, but those are crap compared to B&M's. I wouldn't mind seeing KD get an awesome flying coaster. And if RMC ever does redo Grizzly, I hope they bring Grizzly Plaza back because last time I was there, finding that ride was more trouble than what it's worth. -

Hurler just needs to be retracked and Grizzly needs to be RMC'd and all will be fine. -

Matt Ouimet has said in an interview that no cedar fair parks are getting a triotech dark ride in 2016. I bet kings Island gets one in the tomb raider building in 2017 or Cedar Point would be my guess. -

They'll probably get a launched wing coaster in 2017. And since the skyscraper in Orlando is going to have the tallest inversion with all other kind of record breakers, I don't see hypers or gigas trying to incorporate an inversion anytime soon. -

I would like to point out that Cedar Fair announced that they wouldn't be adding any Triotech dark rides in 2016. So that leaves me to believe that Cedar Fair may buy two big coasters (possibly B&M) in 2016. It's pretty evident that Cedar Point is getting one (possibly a dive coaster), and my guess the other one will be going to either Kings Dominion or Canada's Wonderland. Seeing how Canada's Wonderland cleared some space by getting rid of skyrider, it may be them getting one. Maybe 2017 will be the year for KD. This will give them time to get rid of Shockwave also. -

I think if KD got a hyper, it would be a waste. I know Cedar Fair is on a B&M kick lately so I could see them adding another B&M to KD because they only have one. But adding a hyper wouldn't be what this park needs. Currently it's in a market with two other parks that fill most of what B&M offers. SFA has a stand up. Busch Gardens has a hyper, Dive, and Invert. And KD has a floorless. What's missing? A Wing Coaster. If KD built a mega version of HW's Launched Thunderbird, I think that would be a home run for this park. That whole Virginia/Maryland area up there would be a B&M lovers paradise. -
Great trip reports and awesome pics of Tempesto. Really looking forward to riding it...Looks like a kick A$$ ride! Been to BGW once before 2 years ago when they added Verbolten. Definitely prefer BGW over BGT. I got plans to make it to BGW again but not until next year. I'll probably just get a SeaWorld/BG pass in 2016 cause they'll be getting two new coasters in Florida that year and it'll make it easy just to go to BGW again and ride Tempesto without all the extra cost. I know a lot of people hated on BGW for their coaster choice but seriously, Tempesto looks like a cool ride. Happy for them!

Knoebels Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Impulse looks awesome! I've never been to Knoebels. I've been to Hershey which is close but didn't have enough time to squeeze in for Knoebels. Headed to Hershey again in July, so I'm hoping to make time this time around. I've only ever rode one coaster from Zierer and it was Verbolten at BGW...But it's nothing like that. It looks more similar to SFOG's Dare Devil Dive, which is pretty uneventful. But Impulse looks a lot more eventful so really looking forward to riding it, plus all of Knoebels other coasters. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Thanks to everyone for posting awesome pics from Thunderbird's opening weekend. Thunderbird looks great! I plan to visit HW for the first time in September. I'm really looking forward to their awesome wooden coaster collection and waterpark. HW has always been on my radar, but for some reason, I've always skipped going. But seeing how I've rode every wingrider in America so far, I got to keep it going. So, I'm definitely making it to the park this year. I'm a fan of wingriders. Was very disappointed in Cedar Point's Gatekeeper because it's so slow. It's a shame SFGAm's little ole X-Flight whips big ole Gatekeeper's A$$...but it does. But the best so far has been Dollywood's Wild Eagle. So, I'm really looking forward to see how Thunderbird stacks up against the other three. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
so if you already made up your mind, why ride it? I wish people who havnt ridden it yet just keep their mouths shut. I road Fury quite a few times today and it is by far the best giga coaster I've ridden, MF included. You go in focusing on what you think it doesn't have, you are going to miss out on everything it does. Thank you! There's a reason why there is a saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover." -

I wish we could get an actual real review of this ride besides a bunch of B&M haters pissing on this ride. I can understand that a lot of you have ridden every B&M in existence but until you ride the ride, don't judge it on a POV. If you don't plan to ride it, why even comment? It makes no sense. Yeah, it's pretty...We get it. Personally, I can't wait to ride Fury 325. I think Carowinds made a great investment. It may not melt your face off, but hey, I'm still game for this awesome looking coaster. -
Went to SFOG yesterday for opening weekend. Got there before the park opened and there was already a group riding namtab. When they let the general public in at 10:30am, we headed straight for namtab with the rest of the horde. Got there and it was broke. So whoever was riding it before the park opened got lucky and the rest of us was pissed. It basically was down till around 3pm. When they finally opened it, it seemed like the whole crowd of the park flocked to the ride making the wait over 2 hours long. I don't know if they ever intend on adding another train to the track but with only one train operation, the wait sucks. Being down in the sewers of Gotham with about a thousand sweaty stinky people is the worst. However, after riding the ride, it all seems worth it. Namtab is so much better than Batman. Ohhh the feels. I loved it. B&M just needs to make all their inverts backwards now. It's just better. Also, I must bitch a little about line nazis. When the park designates one of their employees to stand in the front of the line sending 2 - 4 people to each row, it slows down the line in my opinion. Yeah, it may work for parks like Disney or Universal, but that's because those people know what they're doing. But a teenager that's only been working at a theme park for a couple of days has no clue and chains like Six Flags and Cedar Fair don't need that crap. We're grown up people, we know how to stock a row for a coaster. Anyways, moving on. As for the rest of the park, operations were probably the worst I've seen in a while. I was there back in December and park was great. I won't be to hard on the park though, I understand they only had like 2 months off to get the park back open again. But that being said, I may never go back in March again if this is what I have to look forward to in the future. Having only 2 cars going on Dare Devil Dive, you might as well write off the rest of your day if you get in line. I refused to ride it...The wait is just too ridiculous. Ninja was the only ride I noticed that was down all day..But I'm not shedding any tears over that. With the wait times, I basically rode 6 rides all day. Even the concessions were slow, confusing orders left and right. A lot of teenagers, nice teenagers, but sometimes clueless teenagers. I'm just gonna blame management on that one. One last thing, if you plan on bringing a bottle of water into the park, don't open it before you go in. They have a new policy that you can't bring in an open bottle of water now. ???. Never a problem in the past. I guess to many people sneaking vodka in...Who knows? Whatever. Sounds like a bad day, eh? Negative...Still had a blast! I love SFOG even with its faults. It's my home park...I'll love it to the day I die.

I can see Cedar Fair selling off the TOGO's but I hardly doubt they'll sell off the B&M's. If this Mantis floorless transition works out well. I'd bet they'd transition the Vortex coasters to floorless also. -

Could Matt Ouimet be on a mission to rid all stand up coasters from Cedar Fair parks? Skyrider and Mantis are gone. Next up...Shockwave and both the Vortex coasters. -

Good Riddance to Mantis. But please don't make us wait until October 19th to find out the rest of the story.
