Dollywood Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, just looked at the forecast for Thursday and it looks horrible. I doubt Dolly will get out in that mess and the park will probably be very slow and not running rides if it's lightning. So, it doesn't look good for Lightning Rod this weekend. Which is sad because I'm gonna be in the Smokies this weekend and was hoping to ride. Think I'll skip Dollywood this trip and come back later in the year. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

The reason why they are different is because Vortex was the second standup B&M ever made in 1992. Scorcher was the last standup B&M ever made in 1999. They had seven years to perfect it. But regardless, I don't think B&M will ever make one again...They're just not popular. -
BGW has coasters for 54", 52", 48", 38" and next year for 46". I say that's pretty good. Plus, they've added two coasters within 3 years, so that's super awesome in my book. Maybe the next coaster after "viking whatever" will be designed for 42" kids. I may be in the minority here, but I say give the park a break. I like what they're doing.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They did that last year. This year BGW is doing something with Williamsburg, packages and what not. KD and BGW are probably not doing the joint ticket this year, but I could be wrong. But I haven't been able to find anything online about it. Maybe the closer it gets to summer, they might again. Would be nice. -

Nice pictures! I'm not a praying man, but I'm praying this opens by next weekend. I'll be there if it is! -

Delirium looks fantastic! I will be visiting the park in May. It will be my second time I've been to this park. Wasn't a big fan of Shockwave, so I'm glad they got a good flat to go in its place. But most of all, I'm looking forward to riding I-305 again. After riding Skyrush and Fury 325, I got to go back and judge I305 again to see if it's still #1 or not. -
I was just at SeaWorld a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed One Ocean but I believe Blue Horizons is a better show. The reason is because trainers are still allowed in the tank with the dolphins where they are not with the killer whales. I've seen the show about 4 times. The best was when I saw it back in 1998. The next time was in 2011. The show just lost a lot when trainers stopped going in the water. Now seeing it two weeks ago, I could tell it had lost even more...The show just isn't what it used to be and I have no problem with it ending. If it can't be "Blow your mind amazing" like it used to be, then just go ahead and put it out of its misery and do something else. I support SeaWorld on this decision. Also while they are at it, they need to do something about the new clyde and seamore sealion high show...It was horrible. I miss the old show...it was so much better! But whatever, I still love SeaWorld. I can't wait to return and ride Mako when it opens. That coaster looks amazing!

However... it has been announced that Dolly will be the park 3/24. That could be the magic day. That would be perfect for me! -

Very sad news. I'll be there the 24th - 27th of March so that gives them an extra week. There's still hope for my vacation yet. -
With season passes becoming easier to come by with making monthly payments instead of having to pay up front, it's easier to buy more than one season pass now. Which parks have enticed you to buy this year? I've got a Six Flags Over Georgia Gold Combo Pass, and Carowinds Platinum Pass this year. I may get a Dollywood Pass too, my parents and son have one so why not. I tried to get a season pass for SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, but if you live outside the state of Florida, they will not let you pay by monthly payments and expect the whole amount up front. When we went two weeks ago, we just bought a two day pass instead. I was kind of disappointed because I wanted to come back later this year and ride the new coasters. I hope they change their policy in the future...Neighboring states should be able to have the same payment benefit, like other parks offer imo.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wouldn't mind RMC re-doing Mean Streak. But I really don't see Cedar Fair copying Six Flags and doing the same thing to their parks. I think if Cedar Point actually does get an RMC, it will be a custom built coaster. I think we're going to be stuck with Mean Streak the way it is for a while longer, unless they let GCI work on it like they did GhostRider. -
When ever we go to a park, my family always rides every coaster that the park will allow us to. My wife and I are in our 40's and our kids are grown, but it still doesn't bother us to all squeeze into Shamu Express at SeaWorld or Lucy's Crabbie Cabbie at Carowinds for example. It might seem strange to people looking at us riding a little kiddie coaster full of a bunch of kids but we don't care. I'm probably without shame when it comes to theme parks, I've begged Kings Island several times to let me ride The Great Pumpkin Coaster but they still haven't let me...So I'm still seeking that credit. Yes, I count credits. And I have an excel spreed sheet of my credits. But I don't do it for anybody except me. I don't show it to anyone. I just think it's fun. Something for my own personal pleasure and most certainly not to boast about it. But one thing is for sure, you'll never see me in a patch jacket. lol

Yeah, I went to SFOG last year on opening day and learned my lesson. It was the same story in 2015. DO NOT GO TO SFOG ON OPENING DAY EVER! Unless of course you enjoy waiting hours for everything...Then by all means enjoy yourself. I'll be visiting Easter Sunday, and I'm sure it'll be crazy then too, but what they hell...Gotta see the park and get a few rides in. I'm hoping operations are doing a little better by then having a few weeks practice and all. But for the life of me, I still can't understand why SFOG would not have more things ready. They know they're going to have huge crowds. I understand they just closed after Christmas and only had about two months to prepare for the 2016 season...But seriously, hire more people SFOG. More maintenance...Do what you gotta do whatever it is. I don't know what's all involved. I've never worked at a theme park before. But still, it seems like they'd want to put more into it. I can only see them getting hammered online by negative reviews and that's not good. SFOG is actually a great park...When operations are healthy.

I personally don't care what color the coaster is but I would welcome new restraints on Ninja if it is so. Something to calm the headbanging and ear punching would be wonderful. I've always called for the death of Ninja, but I might change my tune if they do something to make it a more enjoyable ride.

Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?
The Geek Mojo replied to kweiss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Of the ones I've rode. 1) New Texas Giant 2) Goliath 3) Iron Rattler I will ride Lightning Rod, Twisted Colossus, and The Joker this year so I'll be up to six total. If Silver Dollar City gets a new B&M next year, I'll probably add Outlaw Run to my list soon as well as Storm Chaser too next year. Don't see myself going to Mexico or New England anytime soon.
