After riding the RMC's, I call them beautiful because I love them so much. But, I still think they're kinda ugly. But who cares...They are F'ing awesome! -

You can see that land clearing on Google Maps. Are we certain this is something new? It could have been there for some length of time now. Anyways, seeing how far it is back from an actual path, I doubt it is for a new ride. As for Hurler, it's a boring ride. Even after the work that was done to Carowinds Hurler, it is still boring. I rode Hurler about three years ago and it was awful then. I'm glad Kings Dominion shut that ride down. It needs attention. And it'll probably get the same attention Carowinds Hurler got. As for the RMC conversation. I just don't see Cedar Fair doing it. They've been building big beautiful coasters. No offense, but RMC doesn't build beautiful coasters. They build ugly, mind blowing awesome coasters. I just don't see Cedar Fair in the market for that. However, I could see them building the T-Rex design...Those look rather nice. Would I like to see a RMC conversion in a Cedar Fair park, Hell yeah! I love RMC! But, I'm not convinced it's going to happen. -
Scorcher is the only stand up I've ever ridden that I didn't bang my head on. Yeah, it's still uncomfortable, but it's still a fun ride. Scorcher was the last stand up B&M ever made, I think they finally got it right, or the best they could. I highly doubt we'll ever see a stand up made again and as much as I dislike stand ups, I'd prefer they left Scorcher the way it is since it is the best one imo.

It's been about a year and a half since I rode Banshee and then it was perfectly smooth...Like buttah. I'm very curious to get back to Kings Island to see what this "rough" talk is about. I just don't believe it. -

TR: My family and I decided to make the ten hour trip from North Alabama to Doswell, VA this holiday weekend. Last time we went three years ago, we mixed in BGW too, but this time around, we just made it all about KD...And it was most definitely worth the trip. KD is a beautiful park and had plenty to keep us busy for two days straight. We started our Saturday morning off with breakfast at the Denny's beside the park inside the Best Western. It was one of the better Denny's I've ate at. We got to the park at 10am and showed our platinum passes and got in 30 minutes before non pass holders. We headed straight for Volcano. Marathoned it three times and then headed for the best ride in the park and THE BEST RIDE IN THE WORLD (imo), Intimidator 305. I'm okay if people disagree with me or call me crazy, but I'm just a fan...I305 is just simply the best. We went to Carowinds last month, so to judge if fairly, I had Fury 325 freshly on my mind. But after riding I305 again for the first time in three years, it quickly reminded me it was far superior. Fury is a wonderful ride and not taking anything away from it, but it's going to be #2 from here on out. Maybe I just love intensity and crazy ejector time over everything else...I305 brings that! Anyways, moving on. After hitting the two best rides in the park multiple times, we went to the water park and got in 30 minutes early again with our passes. It really helped because it was very crowded and it allowed us to get the perfect spot by the wave pool before the mad rush of people flooded in. Looking at the map of KD's waterpark, I wasn't sure what to expect...But after experiencing it for the first time, I was really impressed. It was a super nice water park. Way better than Cedar Point's imo. We made a full day of it. The slides were crowded, but the lines moved pretty quick. We were able to hit all the slides in the eight hours it was open. If you haven't been to KD's waterpark, I'd suggest staying at the first wave pool you come to. The one in the back looks a little older and doesn't have as nice as chairs as the one closer to the front does. Also, the pool side bar is nice...Beer definitely helped me deal with the massive crowd that was there Saturday. One thing I would like to point out, KD's food isn't the best in the waterpark. I'd suggest eating outside the waterpark for better food options. Moving on...After the waterpark closed, KD was open for two more hours, so we closed Saturday out by taking a ride up to the top of the Eiffel Tower and a ride on Dominator. What's cool about KD, they don't close the coasters during fireworks, so having that view is just amazing. Sunday, we made it a dry park day. It was cloudy most of the morning up until about 2pm. And then the rain happened, and happened and then happened some more. It definitely cleared the park out. We also left, but only went to the Burger King across the street and dried off and ate. When the rain stopped pouring, we came back and basically had the park to ourselves for about 4 hours. We rode everything in the park and didn't have to wait once...It was awesome! Even Volcano was a walk on and ride...Thank you rain! Final impression of the park...It's definitely one of my favorites in the Cedar Fair chain. Beautiful, plenty of shade and great atmosphere. The park really went out of their way to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. They had really great fireworks and I kinda felt bad for the park Sunday night, because there wasn't hardly anybody there to watch them...But the show still went on. And as for their rides...the new one, Delirium, it was awesome! After riding Max Air at Cedar Point two weeks ago, it felt like it almost went as high. Delirium is a great addition and by far a better ride than Shockwave. KD really has a great collection of flats...finally got a chance to ride them all on this trip. I know Cedar Fair has been removing Top Spins at other parks, but hopefully they leave The Crypt alone...It's definitely a great ride and deserves to stay. Also, I'd have to say that they probably had one of the best Boo Blasters I've experienced yet. As far as coasters go...Didn't miss Hurler at all. Grizzly is an awesome coaster on the front car. KD's Ricochet is better than Carowinds version. Rebel Yell was rough as Hell. Didn't ride any of the kiddie coasters. Dominator is by far my favorite B&M floorless I've rode. Backlot is the same as the rest...Just a clone. Anaconda has a lot stronger G's than I remember last time I rode it. FOF was the same as KI's but still an awesome ride. Avalanche was a lot of fun...I love Bobsled coasters. And of course Volcano and I305 were amazing. One last thing, I am very impressed with Kings Dominion employees, they were all very very friendly and just nice. Same goes for other Cedar Fair parks I've visited lately, just nice people. Maybe it's still early in the season, but so far, so good. Thanks KD for an awesome time! -

I drove ten hours from Alabama this weekend just for KD alone and stayed two days. Most definitely worth it. And just my opinion here, but Kings Dominion is a better park than SFOG. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think Hershey needs another coaster right now. Yeah, any park could always use a good flat or coaster...But having gone there twice, I've never been too impressed with their waterpark. Maybe it might be best if this park removes a ride or two and expand their waterpark. And also that queue that you have to stand in to get in the wave pool is ridiculous. Get rid of that and build another pool for godsakes. -

Looking at the forecast, Monday looks like a very rainy day. Sunday is expected to have showers in the evening. I'm going Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, it'll be crowded...But that's why I'm going two days. I want to experience the whole park. -

Well, it's a pretty small park with attendance so they kinda need the money. Pretty big investment for lightning rod. I think 1 day passes are ok at 60$ but no more. i usually compare them to snowboarding ticket prices. Why does it say I wrote that? I would never say that about Dollywood. Nicman, you're not using the quotes right and putting words in my mouth. -

Wrong...You wait to get in. You wait at the concessions to get beer. You wait for the stupid band to start playing...Then they take a break. Then you wait to get out of the building by slow moving people. You wait wherever you go. If you don't like waiting, then just spend $35 for the Qbot and don't wait. $100 is still cheaper than most events. -

I just don't understand how somebody could say a theme park is overpriced. You get a whole day's worth of entertainment for $70. Most concerts or sporting events cost more than that and it's like 3 hours long. To me that's overpriced (But I still pay it). Getting 12 hours of fun is a bargain. I'd hate to hear what this person thinks of the Magic Kingdom's prices. -

Thank you so much for linking this. There you have it... NO! Lightning Rod was NOT travelling 90mph, the launch was not "too strong". As an engineer, I thought that rumor sounded fishy, and people here have been repeating it like it's fact... you guys will trust anything posted with a "source". Most stuff on Screamscape is untrue to say the least. I've been reading Screamscape for many years, long before I started reading anything here on TPR and a lot that Screamscape says DOES come true or close to it. I don't know why you would call out Screamscape like that. I read that rumor long before Screamscape ever said anything about it. And also they did say it was a rumor...Not fact. Here is what was said on Screamscape. (5/19/16) According to a reader who visited Dollywood, they were told that Lightning Rod has entered the final testing phase and is set to begin employee training as soon as they finish checking off all the safety and operational procedure documentation. Best guess right now is that it may be ready to open in early to mid June. I don't know how true this last part is, but hearding an interesting rumor that Lightning Rod is running a lot faster than originally intended. Instead of maxing out at 73mph, Lightning Rod has been clocked blazing through the hillside at over 80mph. Nothing was said about adding trims to the experience, so Lightning Rod may really be a wild experience when it opens. I don't know, to me, looks like they covered their ass when they said, "I don't know how true this last part is..." -

KI has one of the wettest log flume rides I've ever been on. I think it should stay...But seeing how Cedar Fair is removing rides left and right out of their parks, I don't see how the log flume can survive if they've already been hinting its departure. I really think 2017 will be the year we see Cedar Fair add two brand new coasters, one in Canada's Wonderland and one at Kings Island. Although, I'm not certain KI's will be a B&M. Possibly a mid size coaster of some kind if I had to guess. -

Making my second trip to KD this weekend. This time we're going to hit the waterpark and give it a shot. Last time we were here it was October, so no go. For those familiar with this park, what slides have the longest lines or move the slowest rather. I'll be sure to hit those first. The water park doesn't open until noon so of course we'll be there at 10 when the dry park opens to catch a early ride on Volcano and I305 and maybe Delirium if we have time...But then it's off to the water to cool off. Thanks for any info. -
Wile E. Coyote's Grand Canyon Blaster at SFOT...Forgot about it. Great Pumpkin Coaster at KI...I don't have a kid small enough for them to let me ride. I've tried over and over and it's always no. The Legend at HW...Closed for construction Wilderness Run at CP...no kid small enough to ride with. Ricochet and Backlot Stunt Coaster at KD...Not enough time in the day and also Great Pumpkin Coaster cause too big. Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain and Tig'rr Coaster at Indiana Beach...Not enough time in the day I was there.

I rode Cheetah Hunt in February and it was pretty weak. I rode it when they first opened it back in 2011 and it was great back then. It seems they've really slowed it down a lot. Last time I rode Farenheit was July 2015 and it was fun even with the hard restraints. I can even imagine it now with the soft restraints being even better. With Cheetah Hunt being kind of let down, I'd have to disagree with you and say Farenheit is better...And that's without experiencing the soft restraints. But I will agree with you on it with being the 4th best at BGT behind the three B&M's. -

Loving the reviews on LR. Appreciate everyone that has ridden it giving us all that has not a little insight. I've been to the Smokies twice this year with intent to ride, but the ride has never opened. But no worries...I'll ride it soon. Looks like it may open this weekend...Hopefully. I wish Dollywood would give it a proper media day though before opening it and also for godsakes give us a darn POV already...Please! -
I would regard this as a "garbage" response. It's one thing to respectfully disagree with someone else's opinion, and quite another to label it as "garbage." Remember--opinions are like a particular bodily orifice. Everybody has one. Please try to express yours more respectfully, or at least with a better sense of humor. I did apologize for my "garbage" word. And I did admit he had a point.

So this was my first RMC, and we were assigned row 7. As I'm sure everyone is aware the train picks up speed before the hill. The launch was incredible, but really not as forceful as I thought it'd be, but still an absolute blast! The air time on "Dolly's humps" was great and the first drop just seems to go on forever! I was out of my seat all the way down! The overbanked turns carry terrific speed, but the outter bank hill for me was a OMFG moment! I loved it! The quad down was just plain fun, ejecting out of my seat by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th hill, and the large turnaround back to the brakes at the station was quick and snappy! Overall a fantastic coaster with quick transitions and blistering speed throughout! OMG! I CAN'T WAIT TO EXPERIENCE "DOLLY'S HUMPS"!
