Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see KI getting a TrioTech in the old Tomb Raider building in 2017 and a new Wooden Coaster in 2019. KI has a great selection of coasters...So the dark ride should come first imo. -
Maybe you just rode it on a bad day. Coasters are funny that way. Maybe this new one at SFGAdv will be better for you. I have a feeling it's coming, so you better get used to it. I was at SFFT and SFGAdv this year, and while SFGAdv has more rides, I'd put SFFT over SFGAdv any day. SFFT is an awesome park. My favorite of all the SF parks I've been too so far.

Just my opinion here, but Vortex can beat you up worse than Ninja can at SFOG. Therefore, Vortex is the worst coaster in America. -
I didn't have the same experience you had on Batman 4D in SFFT. I rode it opening weekend and thought it was an awesome coaster. The line moved very fast and loading and unloading moved along great. There's not a capacity issue on this ride, well, at least from what I experienced. I got five rides in fairly quickly. The vest restraints were not uncomfortable either...well, atleast not to me. I'm a large 250 lb 6'4 guy, and I thought the seats were very comfortable. The vest restraints didn't seem tight at all to me like they did on Gatekeeper at CP. SFGAdv would love this coaster...It's fun and unique. I'd also like to see a larger version of it...The one at SFFT is kinda short and over before you know it. I guess that's why the line moves so fast on it.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think a record breaking Dive Coaster (if that's what it is) would be great for the park seeing how there is only two other coasters like this in the US, which are no where near the park. We need more Dive coasters in the US...They're awesome rides. Just a prediction here but I feel Cedar Point gets the giant coaster in 2016 which will be a dive coaster. Kings Dominion will get the giant coaster in 2017 which will be a large launched wing coaster. Who knows about 2018...But I do believe this will be the year Cedar Point gets it's dark ride from Triotech. And if Six Flags puts two RMC's in per year in 2017, 2018, 2019...They'll be done with RMC which will leave Cedar Point clear to have RMC all to themselves in 2020...Which will be Mean Streaks year. I just personally believe Cedar Point has a great plan set for the next five years. 2016 - Coaster / 2017 - Waterpark addition / 2018 - Triotech / 2019 - Flat ride / 2020 - RMC...But that's just my opinion...Doesn't really matter what I think. Just fun to guess. -
Trip Report: Okay, this was my very first visit to Six Flags Great Adventure so I had very high hopes for this park. I have heard talk about this park being compared to Hersheypark many times. So I made sure to visit both parks in the same vacation to see for myself. After visiting Hersheypark days before, I can honestly say, Hershey beats Six Flags Great Adventure. Hershey has better rides and just a better park all around imo. Now I'm not saying SFGAdv is a bad park, it's a great park, but not the best Six Flag park imo. I am very happy to finally get this park under my belt. I was also happy to be able to ride all twelve rollercoasters. El Diablo was closed during my visit due to the other Larson Looper problems from other parks, but I just read on Screamscape that the ride has reopened...No big deal though. I do have to say that SFGAdv is a huge park. Not a fan of how it's laid out. Seems like there are very little shortcuts. Okay, onto the rollercoasters. Kingda Ka - Wow...This coaster was crazy intense. A lot more so than Top Thrill Dragster at CP. TTD was a little smoother and just the lap bar, but I have to say...I enjoyed Kingda Ka more. The restraints didn't bother me, or the shaking either. I just enjoyed the crazy out of control feeling...Plus the extra speed. Kingda Ka for the win. My favorite coaster in the park! El Toro - This was my most anticipated ride out of the whole park. I can see now why everyone loves this ride. It's intense, and ejector time like crazy. But I just can't go with the consensus that says this is the best wooden coaster in world. It's great, wonderful, but the restraints suck. They're probably great for skinny people, but for people like me with a gut, it literally tries to rip it off with the ejector time. Now, I'm not going to blame the ride. It's totally my fault for being fat. I need to loose 50 pounds then I can totally agree with everyone else that this is indeed the best wooden coaster in the world. Bizarro - Great B&M floorless coaster, one of my favorites I've ridden. Great themeing too, love the fire! Runaway Mine Train - Probably the most airtime I've experienced on a Mine Train...Took me by surprise. Decent coaster. Nitro - I'm a huge fan of B&M hypers, but this one with the upward helix is probably my least favorite. I much prefer the downward helix on Goliath at SFOG. Skull Mountain - This reminded me of Runaway Mountain at SFOT...Basically same ride, but I give Skull Mountain the nod for the crazy heavy metal music...It was rad. Black Beard's Lost Treasure Train - Probably the longest train I've ever seen on a kiddie coaster ever. Decent little family coaster. Roadrunner Railway - This is a painful kiddie coaster. Hated it...But it's a credit...So I endured. NamtaB - Rode this at SFOG also this year and both were great. I much prefer the B&M clone inverts backwards. The Dark Knight - Same as the one at SFGAm, and their fun...Wild mouse rides always are. Green Lantern - I was at Kentucky Kingdom back in the 90's when this coaster was being constructed so I never got to ride it when it was Chang so I was pretty excited to get the chance to ride this nearly 20 years later as Green Lantern. Never been a fan of stand up coasters, but this one was pretty decent. Superman - Basically a clone of all the other Six Flags Supermans...Not much to say except the same ol same ole. Here's some pics: I was pretty happy to see this. I remember riding one of these when I was a kid at SFOG. Brought back some great memories. I love this ride! Awesome statue!! El Toro, you're awesome. I just wished I wasn't so fat so I could enjoy you better. I love this sign. Bizarro wins best sign award. Is this where the new rollercoaster is going next year?

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hear comparisons between Hershey and SFGAdv a lot. Actually doing both parks this year. My wife and I went to Hershey last year and loved it so we're taking our kids with us this year. We'll be there this Thursday and Friday. We've never been to SFGAdv, we'll be there July 10th. I'll be glad when I get to do these two parks in the same trip so I'll be able to finally compare them myself. When went last year we hit up Fahrenheit first because of the wait it always gets. But this year there is Laff Trakk. Which ride should I ride first to avoid the long wait time? I'm thinking Laff Trakk probably. -
I have a question about flash passes if anyone here can help out, please. I am going to SFGAd for the first time Friday, July 10th. I only got one day, so I'm going to buy gold flash passes for my family. We were at SFOT last month and they only included New Texas Giant and Texas Skyscreamer on the platinum pass even though they said on their website that those rides were included on the gold pass. Does SFGAd do this too? I see they have their rides included for gold pass. I just don't want to get there and be surprised again with the extra cost. I will say that SFOT platinum passes are cheaper than SFGAd. I fine paying the medium cost...But $110 a person seems a little ridiculous. Basically, I just want to know if any rides are only included on the platinum pass. Thanks.

I'm happy for SFDK for getting the next RMC for Six Flags, but disappointed that Six Flags isn't doing two. I was thinking probably SFDK and maybe SFSL or SFOG for the next RMC but looks like they have to wait. But then again, Dollywood and kentucky kingdom are getting RMC's for 2016 and they're right in the middle of those two places so that work's out. So with Six Flags only building one RMC, I guess I'm to assume that they may build two 4D fly coasters and two Justice League Dark Rides. I'm hearing SFGAd may get a 4D flyer and SFGAm may get a dark ride. I wonder which other two Six Flags parks will be the lucky winners next year?
-
I also think the name Twisted Twins is out because RMC has a different name so far for all their coasters and Twisted is already being used by SFMM. I know it's not really up to RMC...KK will name it whatever they want. But I hope for something else. Glad for KK, I'll definitely be there in 2016 to check out RMC's latest creation.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
The Geek Mojo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A lot of people say that Skyrush at Hersheypark is the most painful coaster on the legs, but I disagree, Magnum at CP is the most painful on the legs. That stupid lap bar made it a very uncomfortable ride for me. But regardless of the pain, I still love both coasters. -
Dive Bomber "replaced" Cliffhanger - essentially they had to extend the wooden platform at the top of the tower so the drop capsule would fit in with the existing Cliffhanger slide. Dragon's Tail is still there as well - no other major changes in the park other than the drop capsule this season. I went to White Water Sunday...And boy was it crowded! I rode Dive Bomber but not before a 300 lb. guy got stuck in it for 30 minutes. It took all of Six Flags White Water's kings horses and all the kings men to put Dive Bomber back together again. I've heard it's done it quite often so far. I don't know, it seemed to work fine when I got in it. However, I don't like it as much as Cliffhanger. The lines get longer because it's such a slow process to load a person and drop them. On Cliffhanger, it was just easy and the line moved a lot quicker. But whatever, it was still fun. And Dragon's Tail is still running great...Still the best slide in the park imo. I have to say, I was totally wrong when I said SFOG didn't need a waterpark inside of it. Because both times I've been to White Water and Hurricane Harbor in SFOG, they've both been intensely crowded. Atlanta can definitely support two big water parks. That was a good call by Six Flags. Took a few pics... Yay! It's time to ride some waterslides! Where to first?? I see Dive Bomber...Way up there! Boy, is this place crowded today! Whoever said Atlanta couldn't support two big Six Flags waterparks...You were dead wrong! Man, this place sure is pretty... Hey look! It's Ridgeline Racer! I wonder if it's open? What?? American Adventures shut down??? Screw this place, I'm going home!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Really looking forward to visiting Hersheypark in July. My wife and I went last year and loved the park. This year we're taking the kids, and excited they've added a new family coaster. My only worry is that they have stated that people over 6'3" would have trouble riding. I'm curious to hear from those that have rode the ride, does it seem like a tight fit? I'm 6'4" and would really like to ride Laff Trakk. -
Trip Report: One question...Is this park ever not busy? I was there last Friday and yesterday and it was a madhouse. I can't even imagine what it was like on Saturday and Sunday. I bought a platinum flash pass Friday, but a lot of the rides were not running. Titan was down all day and some of the rides that were usually on the flash pass were not on the flash pass, like Runaway Mountain. I couldn't understand why they took that ride off. The Oil Derrick was shut down all day due to "weather" but it was sunshine all day so that made no sense. I did like the rides there, most the coasters were good. New Texas Giant is probably in my top 3 of favorite rides now, it's just an amazing ride. I rode it 12 times...I was definitely getting my money's worth on that ride alone. I will have to say, the operations at this park is horrible. They didn't even open the flash pass until nearly 1pm and had one person operating it, there was a line to the front gate. We got there when the park opened, and no rides were running, no shops were open, and no food was being served. We basically walked around the park for an hour before they opened something. I can't believe I've ever been to a park that didn't have anything open when it opened. I believe Monday was more crowded than Friday, but I was only there to ride Titan and leave. Titan is all about the forces. It's helix happy. Didn't really enjoy it as much as I had hoped too. I had fun at SFOT, but some parts of it was disappointing. But overall, a good experience. It'll be nice to go back when they open this...

Trip Report: Six Flags Fiesta Texas is an amazing park. I've been to SFOG, SFOT, SFGAm, SFSL too and out of the five, this park is my favorite so far. It's just a beautiful park. SFOG is my home park and walking those hills get old...I loved that SFFT was flat! I went Sunday and the park was pretty much a ghost town, everything was walk on and ride. I rode Batman four times in a row in every seat when I first got there because there was hardly no one in line for anything. Batman is an amazing ride, you get a different experience every time you ride. It's smooth and it's over so fast, you never get a chance to get sick. It's a great ride! My final count was five times on the coaster, but I could have rode it more than that if I wanted too, but I was having too much fun on the Iron Rattler...Still the best coaster in the park. I rode it seven times. I'd say Batman is the second best ride in the park behind IR. Superman was good too, not as good as Seaworld's Kraken or Kings Dominion's Dominator, but still decent. I really liked Poltergeist and thought Goliath was probably one of the most forceful inverts I've rode...But not even close to how good Banshee or Alpengeist is...Goliath is your typical compact invert, but with a little more force than usual imo. Road Runner Express was a really good family coaster...I liked it. Boomerang sucked like usual. Pandemonium was one of the better ones I've rode...Maybe just because of the scenery I guess. I even rode the Kiddee Koaster because I'm a whore. It was all good. I loved the park. It's definitely a better park than Six Flags Over Texas was that I visited on Friday and Monday. The only thing SFOT has going for it is New Texas Giant which is probably the best ride in Texas, hands down. But overall, SFFT is the best park in Texas, hands down.

I'm going to SFFT for my first time Sunday. Super glad I'm going to get to ride Batman...I'm a Six Flags over Georgia gold level member, so it should work for the season pass preview hopefully. One question...The weather in Texas has been crappy this week with tornadoes and floods and whatnot...How is the Six Flags parks in Texas when it comes to weather? I've been to some parks if the wind accidently blows a flag (Cedar Point) they'll shut down rides like crazy, as where parks like Kings Island will run their rides in a lightning storm. Just curious how Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas is about weather and shutting rides down. Thanks.

Really looking forward to riding Rougarou. Also, riding Maverick now with the new restraints. But since Cedar Point is rumored to get a new B&M next year, I think I'm going to wait until next year to visit since it's a ten hour drive for me. And definitely not visiting on opening weekend. -

They've announced it...But didn't give a date on when it's supposed to happen. They say it will be available for their 40th anniversary...So I'm assuming this year sometime. This is a very good idea. I like that they are giving a two day option and a four day option. I want the four day option because I've never visited the water parks before. I hope they keep this going cause I want to do this next year. http://www.visitrichmondva.com/things-to-do/vathrills/ -
