  1. We finally booked our vacation for our quad-Cedar Fair trip this summer, and we'll be back at Cedar Point on Aug 2nd and 3rd. Hopefully the weather is nice, but we allowed 4 flexible days between Cedar Point and Kings Island, so hopefully it all works out. I haven't been since 2014, so I'm thrilled to try Rougarou, Valravn, and new Maverick restraints (minor, but such a determining factor for me).
  2. This is horrible! I wonder what causes these rapids accidents? Is it simply weight distribution? Or human error/standing up? Makes me wonder, especially since we have the exact same rapids here at Knott's that I've been riding for years and years... Thoughts are with everyone involved. It really is unfortunate that things like this happen.
  3. ^Not much of a movie buff, so likely not. Have you ridden a Vekoma Boomerang in the last month?
  4. Let us know when you start hating the college experience, and missing the theme parks! You're probably right. I'm sad to leave Knott's right when they FINALLY start to build a new coaster, but that's how life goes. On the plus side, I'll be down the street from S&S's headquarters (track spottings!), and Lagoon will be my new home park, so we'll see.
  5. ^Very true, however the GP may get confused. I would actually love to see some blue/purple/teal come to the Boardwalk, like Mako's color scheme or similar. The park has so many reds, oranges, and yellows already. And who knows, maybe when/if they add a new coaster here, Xcelerator will get some fresh paint as well
  6. Such a pleasant sight. I really will miss the awesome color scheme though.
  7. I see where you're coming from. I never looked at it from that perspective. So if Coast Rider is closed from the 15-19... maybe they're removing the shin guards? Lol. Doubtful, but that would be nice. I understand the need/want for the "side" guards that prevent people from sticking their leg out, but the actual shin bars themselves are completely ridiculous.
  8. It's been closed ever since. PS: Am I the only one that hates the Knott's system of announcing ride closures? They only put them up on the website when the ride actually closes or at most a few days prior to the closure. I wish they did something like this or this. The way I see it is... at least they post them. They may not give a ton of notice, but it's better than going to the park and finding your favorite ride is closed. It could be better, but it could be worse.
  9. Maybe it's just me, but a Zac Spin/Free Spin with lap bars sounds incredibly painful and uncomfortable. I'm sure Intamin is capable of pulling it off, but... ouch.
  10. Wow, this looks amazing. Mack has been doing great stuff lately. They NEED to build more of their mega/launch/hyper coasters in the states. I love Manta, but we need more!
  11. If this layout is accurate, it looks like an average middle-of-the-road Wing Coaster. They layout seems oddly perfect and "mechanical" almost as if it was designed in RCT3 or something. I'd love to see a final inline twist or something, but this will still be great for Toverland.
  12. Good to hear. I'll be at the park for two full days on Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28, so I'm expecting manageable crowds. We're hoping to not have to buy Fast Lane, but if it means significantly more rides on Fury, we may splurge.
  13. Haven't been on either, but Helix appeals to me a little more. Fury 325 or Intimidator 305?
  14. Bohemian Rhapsody covered by Pentatonix. One of the greatest songs of all time covered by one of the greatest a capella groups of all time.
  15. Both have Vekoma junior coasters. That was a tough one. Kings Island and Lagoon?
  16. Congrats! I'm graduating in a few weeks too... from high school! Heading to college this fall, and I couldn't be more excited. It will put me farther from the hussle and bussle of SoCal theme parks, but I'm thrilled for the college experience.
  17. My dad and I finally booked our summer trip this year! Airlines, hotels, and rental car are all ready to go. We're doing a 9-day vacation that includes Carowinds (new), Kings Dominion (new), Kings Island (last visited in 2014), and Cedar Point (last visited in 2014). Super excited to ride Fury and Intimidator 305 for the first time! Woo!
  18. I forgot Steel Force in this list, so I would lay it down between Superman: Ride of Steel and Magnum XL-200. Update on my summer plans: I'll be riding Intimidator for the first time and re-riding Magnum XL-200 and Diamondback, so my opinions will likely change.
  19. This is what surprises me most. I live near Disneyland but don't travel there much at all (in favor of Knott's and Six Flags), but when I rode California Screamin' for the first time last year, I was blown away that they let you take your backpack with you and leave it at your feet during the entire ride. However, I noticed that they make you take all loose articles with you on Jaguar at Knott's (backpacks, purses, cups, cameras, everything), so I guess it has rubbed off on some other rides. That's the only non-Disney ride I've ridden where they let you do that.
  20. Thanks for the report! I often forget about the Gold Coast parks. Jet Rescue looks like it really packs a punch for its size. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this park is in no way affiliated with the Seaworlds in the USA, right?
  21. It's nice to see Dollywood with a drop tower. That spot was just begging for one since the removal of Timber Tower. LOVE how open the restraints look! They seem even more "freeing" than Lex Luthor's/Zumanjaro's!
  22. Aside from Riddler's Revenge, which I LOVE, I'm not the biggest fan of the other Stand-Ups I've ridden. I don't think they're a failed concept, just more of an "outdated" concept that is past its prime. Although I really like the layouts of most of them (and is probably the reason I love RR). Most of the ones from the mid-late '90s have awesome and unique layouts that would actually make solid Floorless or Sit-Down coasters. I think Cedar Fair is making the right move with converting theirs to breed new life into them. I would even be alright with RR getting converted since I mainly like it for the layout, but I don't see any chance of that happening in the near future, especially with Scream in the same park. Just some of my thoughts.
  23. ^That's crazy! I've ridden all 4 Intamin Accelerators in the US and I really wish I could say I've experienced a rollback. I've ridden Xcelerator probably hundreds of times, and I've never experienced one (although I think beautiful California weather is partially to blame for that). Will be riding TTD in early August this year... maybe my time will come!
  24. ^Going off stats on RCDB isn't accurate at all. Hardly any coaster (unless you're at Cedar Point) reaches its theoretical capacity. The only coaster at Knott's that MIGHT go above 1000 people per hour is Silver Bullet on a good day with good operations. Every other ride is 800 or below, and rides like Xcelerator, Pony Express, and Sierra Sidewinder may only hit about 500 or even less. But back on topic since this isn't the Knott's thread, since there seems to be 4 coasters confirmed for 2018, I assume a conversion of the Carowinds Vortex won't come until 2019? Unless it's also coming next year, but not considered a new coaster. This is still super exciting news.
