1. This is fantastic news all around. I think Coasterbill said it perfectly a few pages back. Cedar Point and Kings Dominion are obviously getting the RMCs, CGA is likely getting the Intamin Impulse ("renewed relationship" coaster), leaving the "brand new coaster type" to presumable Knott's. I can't wait to see what happens, but it's pretty difficult to speculate with so much up in the air. However, I feel like this eliminates B&M... unless B&M introduces a brand new coaster type. It would be great if Cedar Fair introduced large new coasters to both CGA and Knott's in 2018. That would be a great one-two punch for visiting the state. Sorta like 2013 when we got the Boardwalk, Full Throttle, and Gold Striker. Definitely keeping my eye on this! Such great news.
2. I'm a little late to this. What exactly did they do besides paint it? Didn't it already have the new Vekoma trains?
3. 2011: Green Lantern (SFMM) 2012: Manta (SWSD) 2013: Coast Rider (KBF), Full Throttle (SFMM) 2014: Banshee (KI) 2015: Twisted Colossus (SFMM) 2016: Joker (SFGAdv), new GhostRider? 2017: Mystic Timbers this summer (hopefully)
4. A few things, I like the standard train design better, I like the layout better, the last few airtimehills and the s-bend is fantastic, the atmosphere in the queue and station is way better and finally the operations on Silver Star are fantastic, even on 3 trains no stacking whatsoever! I agree about the trains. The older style trains have better pacing, IMO. While this is most definitely true (I like Nitro more than Diamondback), the V-trains really do have some great pull over the hills in the back seats, plus LOTS more freedom, especially on the "loner" seats. I can't imagine how amazing Shambhala's first drop is in the back seat!
5. Thanks for the photos. It's nice to see vertical construction finally happening on the restaurant after so many months of seemingly nothing going on.
6. Wow, the Bat looks 1000x better! I have a weakness for red and black color schemes. Now they just gotta give it Vekoma MK1212 trains!
7. I'm not sure if I've posted in this thread, but oh well, I'll post again anyway. My opinion has probably changed anyway! 1. Skyrush - appropriate gap - 2. Nitro 3. Superman the Ride (SFNE) 4. Diamondback 5. Superman: Ride of Steel 6. Magnum XL-200 7. Desperado 8. Goliath (SFMM) I will also be riding Intimidator for the first time this summer, and possibly even Apollo's Chariot, as well as going on Diamondback again, so the rankings may change of course.
8. I disagree. Bullet's station is seperated from the rest of GT by the stagecoach route. It is completely cut off from without using one of several underpasses. You might be right, but it is most definitely not in Fiesta Village.
9. Back in 2014, I rode Vortex at Kings Island and thought it was the worst coaster in existence, but oddly enough, I really enjoy Viper at SFMM. I only rode Vortex once and will be riding it again this summer (and I've ridden Viper countless times), but that one time I rode Vortex, it was atrocious.
10. Even though Silver Bullet is highly visible from all areas of Fiesta Village, it is definitely placed in Ghost Town as per the station/queue. I think the theme and colors are fine (it's actually one of my favorite color schemes ever), although I'd be thrilled if they painted the ugly all-red lift hill the same colors as the rest of the layout. I never understood why they did that. Also, according to the webcam, the boardwalk pool is totally drained, faded, and peeled. I don't remember them waiting this long to repaint it last year, but it makes me wonder if the new ride will take some of that space. The entrance to the bridge protrudes pretty far into the walkway. I wonder if they will trim back the bridge a little bit to have more space to work with in the Boomerang spot. Just pure speculation, but it seems logical being they're so tight on space.
11. As completely awesome as it would be to have a B&M Giga here, that would also be the ugliest placement for a coaster in the world. I don't think Matt Ouimet wants to pull another Silver Bullet.
12. I'm a little surprised the park threw such an elaborate event just for a new photo op with a character. Sounds like a total Disney thing to do. Interesting nonetheless. Thanks for the report!
13. ^ and ^^ Thanks for the info. I'm really surprised to hear how not-crowded these parks are. A couple people in the KD thread were telling me the same thing about non-existent crowds at I305 and others. We might still end up buying FastLane+ anyway, but we definitely will not purchase it until we are at the park and see what it's like. Great news!
14. I posted a similar question in the KD thread a few days ago, but I'm looking for an answer for Carowinds as well. It looks like I'll be visiting for the first time in early August of this year on a Thursday (either the 3rd or the 10th). Will one full day with FastLane+ be good to cover everything, including multiple re-rides on Fury, Intimidator, and Afterburn? We're currently planning out a quad-Cedar Fair trip (Carowinds, KD, KI, and CP) to get some great use out of our Platinum Passes, and spending one full day at this park rather than two may help us in the long run in order to have a sufficient amount of time and flexibility at the other three parks. We plan on doing a one-way trip... flying into Charlotte and out of Cleveland. Thanks in advance. I can't wait to finally ride Fury... I've been so patient since it opened! lol
15. Seriously? It's still a month before Memorial Day. I don't even think it's fair to call any new attraction "late" until it's mid-June or later. Considering that most CF parks are open now (minus 3), and all of the parks have their respective new attractions already open or very close to opening, I don't think they are "delayed" at ALL. Most Cedar Fair parks open in late March and early April... you can't possibly expect them to get their new areas/vintage flat rides open with such a short off-season for many. When compared to Six Flags, who takes 9 months to build a Super Loop, Cedar Fair dominates in opening rides on time. Nothing is "delayed." It's still not even May yet. My goodness. //end rant
16. That's great news about the speed. We all thought they were gonna neuter that launch, but they did the opposite!
17. I read a report somewhere that CF recently bought a new Vekoma MK1212 train last month. So along with the care with which they are dismantling Boom it looks like it is going somewhere in the chain. I've seen countless people now say "I've heard/read that CF purchased a Vekoma train" but I have yet to see any type of source. I would love to be proved wrong and linked to a source, but are we sure this isn't just something enthusiasts made up?
18. ^Very true. Although the SFGAdv Batman didn't feel any faster or better to me than SFMM's Batman, they're still incredible Inverts.
19. There is at least a 100% chance I lost brain cells reading this.
20. I guess the only "hint" we have is that the ride closed in April... so if a ride is going to replace it, it might be big enough to need that extra time, in which case a roller coaster would make sense. But yeah, pure speculation.
21. California Ports Oddly enough that shop is no longer on the official park map. Weird that it's still open. Knott's Interactive Map Looks like they are removing merchandise from it now that the park is closed for the day: I wonder why today. Why not after this weekend? Not last weekend? Why the middle of the week? I mean it looks they still have stock to sell. Why not just close it when they put up the wall And get it over with? From what I've noticed, that shop hardly gets any business... even before everything with Boomerang happened. I NEVER saw any customers in there. The poor employee always sat there and looked bored. The apparel there was never all that "trendy" or appealing anyway. Somebody else might argue differently, but that's what I've noticed from my many observations over the years. Maybe they just decided to close the shop and cut their losses? And there is pretty much a 100% chance that shop is getting scrapped (or at least heavily remodeled) if the new ride replacing Boomerang is indeed something of large scale.
22. Forgive me since I'm not overly familiar with this park, but when was that picture taken? There are people in the train, and I thought the park doesn't open until this Sunday?
23. For the locals... I will likely be visiting BGW for the first time on a Monday and Tuesday in early August this year. I know this type of stuff is difficult to predict, but would a Quick Queue pass be needed? We'll be spending two full days at the park from open to close, and I know they have lots of people-eating B&Ms, but I just thought I'd ask if that is a busy time of year to visit. Thanks in advance.
24. ^Thanks for the feedback! I really am looking forward to visiting. Living in SoCal, it's always difficult to arrange vacations to the East Coast around busy schedules, but for the looks of it, we're doing an 8-day trip in early August that includes Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Carowinds--in that order. Can't wait to ride so many great rides in one trip.
