  1. Are you serious? Knott's doesn't want a fun ride? T-Rexes aren't fun? Intamins aren't fun? Lighten up a little, dude. Both in this thread and the Knott's thread, you're taking this 2018 speculation way too seriously. I understand the hype. Knott's is my beloved home park and the world knows we've been waiting for a new coaster, but once you say Knott's doesn't want a "fun" ride, come on... I'm happy with pretty much anything in that spot, as long as it's a thrilling coaster that is fun and exciting and adds to their collection of rides.
  2. It's kinda funny. Remember 3 years ago when we saw S&S's concept for the Free Spin, and we said "OMG PARKS SHOULD TOTALLY BUY THIS" and now we're just sick of them? Thanks Six Flags Honestly though, I really enjoyed Joker at SFGAdv. I prefer the Intamin version at SFMM (yes, yes, I know), but they really aren't "bad" rides. Hopefully they don't build the reputation that the Batmans have earned in that they are bad rides simply because they are cloned. That being said, I can think of 100 other rides that would be a much better fit for Knott's.
  3. ^I'm so excited to ride Fury this summer. I love everything about Nitro, so I figure Fury will be an even superior version of that. I just love B&M Hyper trains so much, it could be the most forceless layout ever, and I would still have fun.
  4. I believe one of the main reasons Knott's is so high on the list is the fact that it's a year-round park that operates 364 days a year.
  5. Maybe this 100-foot coaster is the "completely new type of coaster" since that is definitely a little small for an Impulse? And maybe Knott's is getting the Intamin after all? Interesting...
  6. That's good news to hear about a possible new 2020 coaster. I'm heading off to college up in Northern Utah this fall, and I plan on being there for 4 years, so Lagoon will be my new home park! Exciting stuff.
  7. ^I am not going to lie, I looked over that quoted post about a dozen times before figuring out what you actually fixed. Clever man, you are.
  8. Love, love, LOVE the colors so much! This is the perfect addition to the park. Go Intamin!
  9. Viper isn't a kick-a$$ ride. I highly beg to differ, but that would just steer this thread more off topic. Man, I absolutely love Knott's Berry Farm as my beloved home park, but some of ya'll are crazier than me.
  10. Xcelerator's launch can be a little noisy, but that's only for a short period of time and only really noticeable if you're RIGHT next to it. Even Monte isn't too bad--only the loop provides that roar, and again, is only obnoxious if you're right next to it. But I'm sure their new T-rex coaster next year will be super smooth and quiet
  11. I have never witnessed a ride be as obnoxiously loud as Superman at SFMM. It's to the point where everybody plugs their ears walking under it, just in case.
  12. Those are AWESOME photos! It makes me even more excited for my visit this August. Thanks for sharing!
  13. That makes sense. Hopefully this one rides a little better than Thunderbolt.
  14. This looks fantastic. I really wanna see Mack make a comeback in the US and build some huge hyper looping coasters. We'll see what happens at Silver Dollar City!
  15. With so many options for cheap, compact roller coasters out there, I am still shocked the park chose this ride. I love the colors though.
  16. I'm hoping Cedar Fair picks up a couple of these Giant Discoveries as well. They look much better than both the Mondial and Huss versions. It would be a great addition to some of the smaller parks without frisbees.
  17. ^Look no further than Twisted Colossus. There are a couple turns on that ride, but the majority of its layout is linear.
  18. Considering that Knott's already has a Mack spinning coaster AND three launched coasters, I think it is quite unlikely we would get one of those Mack launched spinning concepts. But never say never, and they look like fun rides. As for the Skywarp, please no... That's the type of ride I imagine at a carnival or small theme park, not one of Cedar Fair's most popular theme parks. I could see Six Flags doing something like that, but Cedar Fair seems to appreciate big quality rides a little more since they always pour money into B&Ms and expensive flat rides. I'm really, really intrigued to see Cedar Fair's 2018 announcements in the coming months. There is so much good stuff coming next year, it really is exciting.
  19. Both have had some serious operational issues, on top of the fact that they are both kick-a$$ RMCs. Carowinds and La Ronde
  20. I FINALLY made it to the park (as well as Soak City) after being piled up in work the last few weekends. I don't have any photos worth sharing, but I thought I'd mention a few things. A few notes on Knott's itself: Sol Spin was operating quite well all day today, and I did not witness a single hiccup or breakdown. Yes, the ride cycle is still short, but it's nice to see the ride operate reliably. Also, a short ride cycle helps the line move faster, so it's not too big of a deal. My first few rides back in April were fairly weak, but I rode it three times today and all three times I had some crazy flips and funky upside down moments. It really is a fun ride, and it's so nice to have a fresh new thrilling flat ride in the park after seeing so many get removed over the last few years. I'm still disappointed they never added the decals to the ride though. It would really top off the ride visually. It's also quite the people-eater in terms of flats. Not as good as Windseeker, but 36 riders every 2 or so minutes isn't too shabby. GhostRider is still running smooth as butter. I got a front row ride at dusk, and it was fantastic as always. I believe its one-year anniversary is sometime this week as well! I hope it stays this smooth for many years to come. I can't wait to try Mystic Timbers this summer and compare. Xcelerator is STILL on two trains. It has been like that since November (with a small period of refurbishment in early May). It doesn't help capacity a ton (they should really make it an unload station like Dragster), but it does make a small difference. Hopefully this becomes a new norm. The Boardwalk is pretty much a mess right now. Coast Rider sucks now, and there is so much construction all over the place. It sure does look funny without Boomerang, but it's also incredibly satisfying. I can't wait for everything to be cleaned up with an awesome new ride/coaster next year! The restaurant is also turning out MUCH bigger than I expected. As for Soak City: WOW! What a difference. The park was honestly getting pretty run down, so it's great to see everything all fresh. Shore Break is fantastic (my first drop capsule slides), and the tube slides were also fun. I didn't try the Wedge since the line was atrocious. Oh, and the renovated Longboards is also great. I had fish and chips with lemonade on my dining pass, and it is set up very well and operates efficiently. Good stuff. I only spent a few hours in the water park, so I didn't ride a ton, but I wandered around and checked everything out, and the new landscaping and paint was very much needed. I'll actually visit this water park more often now. However, I did notice something worth mentioning. The park was quite inconsistent with their policy on swim shirts / rash guards. The first time I rode Short Break, they didn't say anything, and I rode it no problem. I then came back after lunch, and an employee at the entrance of the ride said I couldn't ride with a swim shirt (which I don't mind, but I hadn't applied sunblock so I just figured it wasn't worth it at that time). I then headed over to Old Man Falls (the original slide tower), and I rode with a swim shirt without an issue. I'll follow whatever rules they have in place, I'm just being told two different things. Guess I'll be a little more prepared next time and take the safe route and just not bring a rash guard. Generally speaking, the life guards just seemed pretty grumpy today. The food employees were excellent, but all the life guards at the slide towers just seemed irritated. Some guests are really annoying, so I guess they need to be strict, but they weren't very welcoming. Actually, on my first ride on Shore Break, I was in the capsule waiting to drop, and we were delayed because the employees at the bottom end of the slide were completely distracted. There might be more to the story I don't know, or maybe it was just a bad day, but oh well. I still had a great time. I'll be back for a full day at the water park later this week or early next week. Today was my "trial day" just to check everything out for the first time. That's pretty much it. I was able to get a good look at the plot of land available while riding Supreme Scream (I was facing Xcelerator), and it is actually quite large. I quickly compared it to the size of Xcelerator's area, and it was just a tad smaller. Knott's could really go lots of directions with this, and I have no idea what to expect. Just have to wait a couple months and see.
  21. ^That map has been up on the website for a while now (I believe ever since the day after Boomerang closed). My guess is that Sky Cabin is staying. Also, I found the answer to my locker question. Just had to look at a park map
  22. For those who have visited the "new" Soak City, are there all-day lockers available to put my stuff? I know Knott's has them, but I couldn't find anything about Soak City (I'm assuming they do, but I hate working off assumptions). I'm thinking of doing a solo trip up there tomorrow, and I obviously want a safe space to store my stuff. Thanks.
