  1. Coaster confirmed! The 2018 / surfer figure was on a drink coaster! Clever stuff. Can't wait for August 16th!
  2. I visited Kings Dominion today for the first time. Volcano was open and running very well! I305 had some hiccups when we first arrived, but it ended up running smoothly in the evening. What an insane ride! I caught some glimpses of RMC Hurler from Windseeker, Grizzly, Ricochet, and the ferris wheel. I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not, but all the ledgers are up for an extreme airtime hill just after the first turn, parallel with the lift hill. It looks fantastic. Can't wait for the announcement and layout reveal. I'll be back at the park tomorrow for a full day. Like I said in the Carowinds thread, I'll be writing up a full trip report once my trip is over, but I have loved both parks so far. I don't want to come off as "advertising myself," but I'm really having a blast, and I'm sharing it on my Instagram stories if you want to follow along each day.
  3. I just visited Carowinds for the first time this afternoon/evening, and I'm going to write up a full report once my entire trip is over, but I thought I would pop in here and say that Fury 325 lived up to all of my expectations, Intimidator felt exactly like Diamondback (which is a good thing), and Afterburn was INSANE. I have a new favorite B&M Invert. We only spent about 3 hours in the park today, so we didn't get to ride everything, but we will be back for a full day tomorrow from opening to closing. First impressions so far are great! Also, if you would like to follow along with me on this trip, follow my story on Instagram. Check my signature!
  4. Nice report. I'm excited to see what Fun Spot will do with this property. With all that land to expand, I would hope they add a new coaster or two. I think it'd be great to see another small or mid-size Gravity Group or GCI built, especially with it being unique to the area since SFOG, Carowinds, and Wild Adventures have mediocre wooden coasters at best.
  5. A Kings Dominion fan site administrator has confirmed it will be 8/16, but no official word on social media/media announcements yet from KD. Also, considering that the 3 other Cedar Fair parks getting coasters next year are announcing on August 16, I don't see why Kings Dominion would be any different. That day can't come soon enough.
  6. Well this is some sad news, although I can't say I'm surprised. I'm almost certain that they will get relocated. Maybe they will go together and duel again, or maybe they'll separate and go to two different parks, but I just can't see two awesome Inverts like this get scrapped. If so, it would be the first B&M coaster to disappear off the face of the earth.
  7. Wow! That's an even more unpopular opinion! I'm excited to try Grizzly as well. I hear that it's one of the more underrated coasters at the park.
  8. Ok Seeker, how about this: I'll cross my fingers and do a Volcano launch dance for you if you do the same for me and Lightning Rod - where I'll be next weekend for the first time ever. Deal? Volcano is my favorite ride in the park and it was closed in June when I was at KD. I was so bummed. I live in the area and have ridden it probably in excess of 300 times over the years and I just love it because it's so rerideable. It's super smooth, the launch in the front row is amazing and overall a really unique coaster. Yes it's short and but so is Storm Runner at Hershey and that ride kicks all kinds of A$$! I really hope you can get on it. V: The Blast Coaster > I-305 any day for me. You've got a deal! lol Interesting that you prefer Volcano over I305. That's definitely an unpopular opinion!
  9. Angle of decent? That's the first thing I thought of.
  10. Somebody I follow on Instagram reported it was open today, but considering its reputation over the last month, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. If it can last through next weekend, that's all that matters to me!
  11. I can't wait to hear what this is going to be. August 16th is going to be an awesome day for coaster announcements!
  12. Excellent trip report! I've always thought Fiesta Texas was the "Knott's Berry Farm" of Six Flags. It has that little extra charm and originality that the others don't quite have. I look forward to more!
  13. Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm two days ago. My next coaster will be at Carowinds this Thursday! Most likely Fury 325 because of early entry.
  14. Nice update! It's refreshing to see reports from obscure parks that are off the radar. They must have really messed up on that second loop on Texas Tornado enough to half the radius like that!
  15. PLEASE NO! I'm visiting next weekend for the first time as well. Come on Kings Dominion, you can do it!
  16. If this turns out to be a GCI, that would be refreshing to see Six Flags build a ground-up, non-RMC wooden coaster, considering the plethora of RMC installations and conversions they have done in the last 5 years that ridded of the classic wooden coaster.
  17. It's great to hear that we finally have an announcement date! I think that confirms that it will be a major coaster, otherwise we would have our regular November announcement date if it were flats or otherwise. I did ride Supreme Scream today (facing Xcelerator) and didn't notice any track/column/parts or pieces laying in any field as someone mentioned. Also, now that Sol Spin runs longer (and even a little faster), I think it is my favorite ride in the park. I love crazy, out-of-control rides, and no other attraction in the park comes close to being that insane. I hope it stays running as reliably as it did today!
  18. ^Interesting. I'm at the park right now. I'll ride Supreme Scream and see if I can see them. Obviously I can't take any pics, but maybe I can get a good look. Also, Sol Spin does 6 cycles instead of 4. Not WAY longer, but those two extra full-speed rotations really help with making the ride feel more "complete." It also seems to be running pretty reliably. I took a video of the new cycle; maybe I will upload it to YouTube and share it here, if I can figure out how (I never use YouTube).
  19. I'm crossing my fingers for good luck at Kings Dominion next weekend. It'll be my first time visiting, and I'd hate for rides (especially Volcano) to be closed. Luckily we have two full days, so hopefully it works out.
  20. After doing some research and viewing some YouTube videos, it seems that an entire arm of seats was replaced on Sol Spin. That actually makes a lot of sense, because based on my visits, one arm kept having issues with restraints not opening properly. I'm glad to hear it's open now with a longer ride cycle. I'm heading to the park today to check it out.
  21. ^That looks really good, actually. I wouldn't be surprised a bit if that's what it turns out looking like. Thanks for all the coverage so far! This looks fantastic.
  22. I'm a little surprised the park hasn't done any teasing for this new ride yet. Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, and CGA have all done so already. Is it because this ride likely won't be announced until November? Just an observation.
  23. Nice report. I haven't been to SFMM since my pass expired in December, but I really need to get back soon. Riddler looks really, really good (at least from pictures). Turned out way better than I was expecting. It's also good that the park finally has a quality indoor, air-conditioned attraction. Dark rides just aren't my thing, but it really is something the park desperately needed.
  24. I find it hilarious that Cedar Fair, the company that time after time purchases coasters from B&M due to their "reliability," proceeds to purchase flats from Mondial that give them headache after headache. Hopefully Knott's can sort out any problems as quickly as possible with Sol Spin. Even if the ride's cycle remains unchanged, it's still a great ride that was really needed in a park that has removed so many thrilling flats over the last few years.
  25. My Cedar Fair roller coaster will likely change being that I will ride both Fury 325 and I305 in just a few weeks, but here are mine for now. Cedar Fair: Maverick. Six Flags: El Toro / Nitro (I love both coasters for completely different reasons and really cannot decide). SeaWorld: Manta (San Diego). Universal: I've only ever been on Hollywood's Mummy, so I guess that. Disney: California Screamin'. Merlin: Technic Coaster at Legoland California. Independent: Skyrush, no question.
