  1. That's a bummer. I hope they open in the next month. I'll be there for the first time on the 29th and 30th of July. I'd hate to miss out on those rides.
  2. Awesome report! It's interesting to hear that Legend is rough. Didn't they just retrack the whole thing GhostRider-style last year?
  3. Cannelloni! White Lightning or Mine Blower?
  4. I just got the brand new iPad Pro 10.5", and I LOVE IT! Hard work pays off.
  5. Same here! My first day at the park is actually in exactly a month, and we will have a hard time NOT immediately heading to Fury! However, they seem to have early entry for passholders, so we plan on getting to the park 30 minutes early and riding Fury as many times as possible, then once the park opens, head to Nighthawk and Ricochet and take the "smart" route.
  6. No way! You must be wrong. 2018 is not a big anniversary year for the park, so why would they add a major steel coaster? Also, it would completely mess up their steel-to-wood coaster ratio. Don't be ridiculous.
  7. Knott's Berry Farm tomorrow, then SeaWorld San Diego on Thursday. Haven't been there since 2013, so I'm excited! And a month from today I'll be leaving for my Cedar Fair mega trip! Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Kings Island, and Cedar Point!
  8. Gotcha. I thought you were referring to the OTSR version, which made me seriously question your taste in coasters.
  9. Excellent report! I can't wait to visit this park someday. We're driving right near Eastern Tennessee on our trip this summer, but we just don't have the time or money in our budget to stop. The park really has a solid line-up, even without Lightning Rod. Once that thing starts running reliably, that's icing on an already beautiful cake (excuse my metaphor).
  10. I have always found this park intriguing by seeing the crazy amount of coasters they have on RCDB. It's nice to hear that the Boomerang was great (seriously, those look even better than vest restraints!). But it's sad to hear the park was overpriced and run-down in places. Interesting report, nonetheless. Thanks for sharing as always!
  11. why For perceived safety by non-enthusiasts/GP who don't know or understand that these rides are perfectly safe without them. Oh and I'm sure there is a nice discount on the insurance too. I know they are perfectly safe, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to operate, but those Timberliner restraints seem a little... sketchy... to me, at least when I first saw them. I have seen the bars barely cover both thighs on some larger people, with the restraint almost protruding out from the train as if it's only half down. Obviously the ride is safe, but maybe the seatbelts are there for a little extra reassurance, plus the discount on insurance like you mentioned. It's better safe than sorry anyway, especially when a park like Fun Spot doesn't need a super high throughput. Nonetheless, this seems like a win for Fun Spot. It's popping up everywhere on my social media and Youtube.
  12. This is most definitely what happened, and unfortunately is the most common. I'm glad she is okay, and it was great that random strangers were prepared and caught here, but my goodness, the stupidity of some people... Now everyone is going to say sky rides are unsafe and the cable broke and she was left dangling upside down 300 feet in the air on a "terrifying thrill ride."
  13. I'm not sure where else to post this, but this seems like the most relevant thread. Does anyone know if my Platinum All-Season Dining pass works at Gilroy Gardens? I know admission works with the Platinum Pass, so I assume my food plan works as well? I haven't been able to find much on either CGA's website nor GG's website. We're heading up to CGA for the first time next weekend, so we figure we might as well stop at GG if it doesn't cost any extra.
  14. Does Mine Blower have seat belts under the restraints? If so, does that make it the first ride with Timberliners to have them, or do they all?
  15. I've still only been on Twisted Colossus and Wicked Cyclone. I pretty much like them equally, but if I HAD to choose one, I would choose Wicked Cyclone since it has fantastic pacing and much stronger airtime and elements. The two drops and the dueling is what makes TC good. I'll be visiting both Kings Dominion and Cedar Point this summer, but I'm missing their new RMCs by a year. Bummer. Maybe one day I'll get up to SFDK and ride Joker. Other than that, I don't think I'll be riding any new RMCs in the near future.
  16. ^I very much enjoyed the park last summer as well. It has some flaws (like most other Six Flags parks), but I felt like it had receive much more crap than it deserves. Superman the Ride and Wicked Cyclone are the obvious highlights, but I really enjoyed Batman, Sky Screamer, and even Pandemonium as well. I'd love to go back if it wasn't almost 3000 miles away. But with that being said, Goliath and Flashback both sucked a ton. I"m 100% down for the idea of tearing them both down and adding some cool launched coaster like Full Throttle. But that's just me dreaming.
  17. Nice little report. For small "parks" like this that nobody has heard of, photos definitely would have helped since we have no idea what blue slide and white slide are. I had to look up photos of the place to understand. Nonetheless, I learned about a new "park" today. As for your Castle Park report, it's nice to hear that you had a good experience there. Last time I visited there was over a year ago (I actually wrote up a mini trip report at the time that's probably stuck in the archives or somewhere on the forum), and it felt pretty average. I've heard the place has been going downhill since then, but I've never seen for myself, so maybe it was just exaggerated. I would love to see the park add some little coaster like a Gravity Group woodie (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Story Land, which installed Roar-a-Saurus, is owned by the same company as Castle Park). I don't see them doing that any time soon though.
  18. For me, it would be... 1. Twisted Colossus 2. X2 3. Tatsu 4. Full Throttle 5. Viper Goliath, Batman, Riddler, and Apocalypse (when it's smooth) are honorable mentions.
  19. ^Interesting you note about the Timberliners, because I was thinking the exact same thing. GCIs just seemed to be better designed in general... both the trains and the track. I see Mystic Timbers and even White Lightning staying smooth for a long time, but those Gravity Group rides with Timberliners just seem to be a rough ride waiting to happen. I don't know, just my thoughts. I know there are lots of smooth Gravity Group rides still around, but the GCIs just seem more well-built to me that can withstand their longevity.
  20. I think this is great. It's a nice way to spruce up an average wild mouse while also providing something to do in the rain. I really enjoyed Dark Knight at SFGAdv and thought that it wouldn't be nearly as good if it were outdoors.
  21. I'm not sure if it's in your budget, but Kings Island is probably the best park (at least in the CF chain) for skipping the lines. Their Fast Lane+ basically takes you to the very front of each attraction, and you won't have to wait hardly at all. No plan of attack is needed if you get one. It is 100% worth the money, especially at this park.
  22. Kanonen likes to have a word with you You're absolutely right. I completely forgot about that one. Either way, Xcelerator could really benefit from an unload station, assuming they plan on running two trains the majority of the time.
  23. I used to really enjoy the podcasts back when they first came out, and I really appreciate the effort the team puts in to making them, but I have just found it so difficult to sit for over an hour and listen. Maybe on long plane or car rides, but those aren't too often. If they were 20-30 minutes, I would be all over them (it's SO cool that they do podcasts). But when they're an hour+, I loose interest after a little bit. They really are interesting though, and you get to learn all about the park and what they have up their sleeves for the season.
