  1. Other than at Disney parks, I think I've been fairly spoiled with short lines at most parks. The longest line was probably Space Mountain on a rainy day at Magic Kingdom at over two hours, but I've waited nearly as long for Splash Mountain and ToT as well. The last time I went to Cedar Point, the wait for TTD was 5-6 hours and though I've never ridden it, I would not wait for that. I think that the worst wait was 60 minutes in line for Hollywood Rip Ride Rock It. It would have been maybe 30-40 minutes, but they ended up switching out a train while we were in line. Then, when we're literally next in line, the ride breaks down. Luckily we got express passes out of it and I think I'm most thankful that I wasn't riding when it broke down. The problem with the queue was the cheesy videos running over and over. It's always terrible when the wait is longer than the posted wait at the entrance. I also can't really stand waiting in line for 15+ minutes when a coaster is running one train.
  2. I've mostly been to bigger parks, but I've never seen a Booster at a theme park. I rode one once, and it was amazing. I don't think it exists yet, but I would love to see some kind of giant booster built at a park.
  3. (I'm not doubting your story, I'm just courious) What kinds of crude things did she say/do to you?
  4. Cedar Fair - Maverick* Six Flags - New Texas Giant* Herschend - Outlaw Run* Universal - Mummy Disney - Expedition Everest Sea World parks - Kumba* *These four are in my top 5! I am a little surprised at how it's spread out like that between different chains. In my opinion, the company with the best coasters (at least in the U.S.) is Cedar Fair, with Hershey Park very close...but the best line up in ratio to number of total coasters is Sea World Entertainment - that is until Intamin builds one awesome, stand alone coaster in my yard.
  5. I think he meant Sky Rocket...and as far as Skyrush with trick track goes, I bet Intamin could do it!
  6. There's a few, but on thing I really miss is say Alien Encounter at the Magic Kingdom. Looking back, I'm surprised they had something like that in a Disney park - yet I could see it fit in at Epcot or Hollywood Studios. I hate the Stitch ride. Then I'll say King Kong, Zambezi Zinger (though I think it's operating somewhere), Orient Express, and Demon Drop. I'd also love to ride Gwazi and Dragon Challenge again while they are dueling. Of course, there are other rides that are no longer here that I haven't ridden - but I won't begin to name those.
  7. But this is my question. Is there an S&S coaster with a truly kickass layout? Not something that's completely average save for maybe one insane airtime moment that almost seems like an accident? I think two of their new launched coasters in China look pretty good, but they are probably nothing like what this ride will be. El Locos have pretty kickass layouts, but are kinda gimmicky. I bet this ride will have some very good moments and that other parts will be a little more dull.
  8. While some parks may have moved to a family market in some senses, I think that the family coasters - especially in Europe - seem to be more intense. In the past/coming few years we've had this one a Djurs Sommerland, Orkanen at Farup Sommerland, Manta at SWSD, Dwervelwind at Toverland, Dollywood's 2014 coaster and even more all look great, but slightly intense for family coasters. Othwerise, Skyrush was built in 2012...but I do think another "coaster boom" is in order.
  9. I'm inclined to say an Intamin mega-lite even though I've never ridden one. I think any park with an Intamin Blitz coaster is sure to get a fair amount of attention as well. If a park has an incredible dark ride similar to Spiderman or Forbidden Journey, then it could lead to a successful park, but out of personal preference I'd choose a great coaster. I feel like tons of parks have room for a B&M Dive Machine, and I'm all for more of those! Log flumes do seem essential, but I have to say that I think every park needs some sort of drop tower!
  10. That was great. I've never watched one of your IAAPA videos before, but this was very entertaining. I'm guessing in the older ones you had longer cuts with each interviewee, but the pacing and random "midway" ride/game moments were well placed! Probably anything that long-haired RMC guy said. A good, long coaster from them would really be incredible. Outlaw Run does its course, but one of their coasters 30-60 second done in similar fashion... "If you could build anything with no restrictions, what would you build?": Premier - Dueling YOLO'z? - Really...really?! Out of anything? S&S - Did he say a 4-D free spin? - that sound awesome Walter Bolliger - The fact that he's satisfied with what they have - He has reason to be satisfied, but where is the imagination? Also that he thinks their coasters carry a lot of character... "Craziest idea anybody has asked you to build?": Sally - Christmas ride for China. Walter Bolliger - I don't think we've ever [been] asked a crazy idea. RMC - Nobody's asked me anything crazier than I've proposed. - that dude is a total badass. "Cheetah or Elephant?": US Thrill Rides - How about an elephant with a cheetah head? Premier and RMC both sound like they have big plans! I hope Premier brings big surprises! I can't wait to see what "will be built" that could have been built at Silverwood by RMC. I'm guessing it'd be either a launched or maybe an inverted wooden coaster. I like that you asked the Hard Rock Park question. I think those who responded gave a lot of great insight!
  11. I think Lightning Run looks a lot better than the model, and I hope it also has the 80 degree drop. It looks like this ride will at least have some good airtime! This whole announcement is very exciting!
  12. I found a POV of their indoor Premier Launch coaster. Looks pretty good, maybe better than Rock N Rollercoaster! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNUL4T2GoIs
  13. Mack's corkscrews look reaaaallllly good.
  14. I thought it would have an elevator lift, somewhat similar to some newer Intamin water coasters. That would mean a 2,000+ ft track length could have a decently-sized layout.
  15. Kumba is my favorite at BGT! I think the Zero-G Roll is one of its best parts, too. In reality though, I think the speed at which it goes through the ride is what makes it so great. On the topic of best BGT coasters: I haven't ridden Cheetah Hunt, but I think I would take Sheikra over Montu. If Montu was running without trims/MCBR slowdown, it would definitely be close!
  16. Scorpion at BGT. At first, I remember thinking that the helix at the end also went upside-down, but even after I knew it was not an inversion I think that the helix still scared me more than the loop!
  17. Looking at the loop from that angle, it seems just higher than half of the lift hill. That would probably be great, but I realized that there is plenty of time for trims to be installed on the ride.
  18. I would say in 10-20 years, it could be possible. That is a pretty long way out though, and it's also a possibility that in 10-20 years Worlds of Fun could no longer be part of Cedar Fair. I have to think that the first 300 foot coaster in this part of the country could attract a large number of people though. I still think that a launched or looping steel coaster would be ideal for their next coaster. I have this fear that they'll get a Euro-Fighter. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I'm legitimately scared.
  19. Which 2014 drop tower is more intimidating: Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom or Falcon's Fury?
  20. I think the first half of Storm looks like it really delivers some great air, especially after seeing an off ride video. The second half looks nowhere near as good as a mega-lite does, but I bet that Mack could certainly build the next best thing to a mega-lite in the future!
  21. Krake may be short, but it is the only Dive Machine with a camelback! I'd love it to have a larger train and to see them do more with the ride though!
  22. I'd say Everest is my favorite over Rock n Roller Coaster. After Everest, I am somewhat looking forward to see what they can deliver that is even better in the future (such as Battlestar). I must say I really would like to try one of their Giant Inverted Boomerangs, though!
  23. That could be enough room for dueling gigas...I'd call it Gwazi! Lions vs Tigers, oh my! Maybe GiGwazi?
