  1. I wonder how long Giovanola's relationship lasted with those women? I would not count Titan as a B&M...
  2. I don't see Worlds of Fun getting an Intamin Impulse, and I'm not sure when the last one was built. I would be all for it though, I loved both Wicked Twister and V2 at Great America.
  3. I know there's a fountain in FRONT of entrance, but they never replaced the ride with one, if you look at pictures you can see the fountain is in front of the entrance not behind where the ride was. But I did just realize one of their other uses for the fountain... Are you going to recreate the Friends intro?
  4. That part looks really intense, definitely caught my eye as well. I think the layout looks pretty great, but I don't really like the first element. Seriously, why can't it continue to rotate in the same direction at the top of the "half loops," like on one of Mauer's non-inverting loops? It could also use a little more airtime, but what little airtime it does have looks good! Other than that I love the speed and the uniqueness of the layout. I hope it rides as well as it looks!
  5. Some of the smaller ones are clones- Scorpion, Cheetah Chase, Tempesto (Williamsburg), and Great White at SeaWorld Houston. Not sure if you mean that none of Busch coasters have ever gone on to be cloned for other parks (sans Sheikra), in which case you're right. Journey To Atlantis in San Antonio and San Diego I believe are clones, but I'm not sure those were built by Busch. Manta (Orlando) however, was cloned at Nagashima Spaland but Busch still had the original. I'm guessing Cobra's Curse will be basically too unique to clone!
  6. Cobrarama anyone? Strikewinder annoys me just because it sounds like Sierra Sidewinder, and these could turn out to be very similar rides. It's not a bad name though. Cobra's Curse is so-so for a family spinning coaster, but maybe it could be used for another attraction in the area? Is there anything where Akbar's Adventure Tours (the best simulator ride ever) used to be? A new simulator would not be a bad addition.
  7. Absolutely. In itself the launch is an interesting element, but it should make the element that follows even better!
  8. Wow! That looks amazing. So many hills and unexpected elements. I'm looking at you, hill after the first zero-g roll!
  9. The way the back of the train just gets yanked down the second part looks awesome. Also the airtime hill in the Top Gun Stall on the blue side and the zero-g roll look insane. Twisted Colossus may very well be one of the best coasters out there!
  10. Isn't cedar fair shelling out 120 million this year? What coasters are seem like solidified ones for next year? The drop coaster at Cedar Point where the theatre was? Valleyfair, Michigan's Adventure, and WoF need to be next in line. You understood that? I hope Worlds of Fun gets something big next year. An RMC hybrid version of Timber Wolf would be ideal, but for some reason I don't see that happening and I won't get my hopes up. I definitely agree that a launched coaster with inversions would be the next best thing. While a Superman/Tempesto clone would be in my opinion a good fit for Worlds of Fun, something more original would be nice. I think a replacement log ride or water coaster for Viking Voyager or Tidal Wave would also be a great addition.
  11. Thank you, I was wanting to say that reading through the last few pages. The hyper at Lewa Happy World has already gone vertical! Also, I do believe Helix was originally proposed to be over 200 feet, but Liseberg ended up wanting something that wouldn't stand out as much. Mack could also be involved with BGT's rumored spinning coaster...I'm not sure that would help or hurt the chances of Sea World going with Mack for their hyper, but it makes me think... I have to say that a B&M Hyper is more than welcome at Sea World! I'm hoping it's Mack or Intamin (or RMC, lolz), but if it is B&M then at least it's not from Golden Horse. At this point their decision has been made, and we'll just have to wait to find out...I'll be that guy and bring up the blue-green track at B&M's plant in Ohio. That's definitely a Sea World-esque color.
  12. I don't think that's the best comparison. I wouldn't even say comparing Sheikra floorless to Sheikra non-floorless would be a good comparison. World's of Fun opened a sit-down coaster (Screamroller) that was later converted to a stand-up coaster (Extremeroller), and RCDB lists it as one ride. Then again, RCDB does the same for the Texas Giant and New Texas Giant which I would not consider one credit. I'm torn here and, even though the layout is the same, I do think the change will be significant so I'm counting Mantis and Rougarou as separate credits. I'll go ahead and add that I could care less about credits, I'm just looking for a good coaster...so yeah, waiting in line for Rougarou I'll probably be thinking about Maverick.
  13. You were supposed to ride in the back row! The ride does have some great moments, like the helix at the end, but the first drop is fantastic. It sucks that the weather was crappy when you visited though.
  14. Ozark Radio News posted a video on YouTube: It certainly looks like it's running the same cycle! ...
  15. Finally we have a Dive Machine with a zero-g roll. FINALLY! I'd love Baron either way just because it's a Dive Machine...but I am so happy to see this happening!
  16. I agree, but it does look like that shot was of the pre-lift drop which is couldn't be too bad. If not...ouch!
  17. Yes, those children did a great job with the park. In all seriousness, this park looks amazing. I can't wait to see these coasters in action!
  18. I agree that Gwazi's operations are pretty terrible. The one time I visited after Gwazi had Millennium Flyers, the operations were worse than I have ever seen since Gwazi stopped dueling. They were only operating the Lion side, and on top of checking BGT's way of checking the seat belt and lap bar separately, I have never seen a ride op walk as slowly as one lady on Gwazi that day. I almost feel bad because she could have been injured or she may have had some disability that prevented her from walking more quickly, but if that is the case then she should probably not have been checking restraints... When Gwazi was dueling, it was an absolute nightmare. I remember that more than once they dispatched the trains separately due to other train not being ready to go. Dueling Dragons also had problems with dispatching separately while dueling due to one train not being ready, but at least Dueling Dragons was otherwise operated much more efficiently. I've waited in long lines and endured long station waits on top of those long waits due to employee or guest issues, but Gwazi is probably the only coaster I can really complain about in terms of consistently horrible operations.
  19. I could agree that rides like Maurer Sohne Sky Loops or S&S El Locos are just there to create that "oh sh*^" moment that you're talking about. I haven't ridden either one, but the Sky Loop "element" actually looks amazing. A Sky Loop with a larger layout like Abismo certainly looks like it should fall in the good ride category. Some of the Eurofighters definitely look like gimmicky, "oh sh*^" rides, but sometimes a gimmicky ride could essentially be a prototype for something better to come. Though I understand it may suck if that prototype is at your home park and you see larger, better versions being built elsewhere. I'm not sure what the original poster considers a good ride, but Twisted Colossus has how many airtime hills? The Top Gun element is hardly a gimmick, it's literally one of the coolest things anybody has set out to build on a rollercoaster. It's a coaster over four minutes long, and I don't care if it requires two lift hills - at least it looks better than The Beast. I must add that B&M Dive Machines (especially those 200 footers out there!) deserve to fall in the good ride category. The rides are simply a marvel to watch, and the excitement that builds up for the first drop is just incredible. I've only ridden Sheikra, but I'm pretty sure if I was at Alton Towers I'd ride Oblivion and enjoy it more than most of the other coasters at the park.
  20. Well yeah, but S&S has kinda sorta been building 4D coasters for a while now! It was Arrow's concept though... My top 3 Arrow coasters whether they are open or defunct are: 1. Magnum 2. Orient Express 3. Thunderation Most of the Arrow loopers I have ridden had insane airtime on their drops (at least near the back of the train) despite only being about 50 degrees. I wish more looping coasters these days had great first drops!
  21. ^Yeah...but the second half of the woodie looked like more fun than the first half!
  22. That is an incredible picture. It makes Mantis look so big without Power Tower or Millenium Force's lift hill in the background, plus the lighting and fog (and camera work)...that is the best damn picture of Mantis I've ever seen. I hope the ride stays at least until I can ride it again, but a sit-down/floorless version in the meantime would not be bad. Great photos all around Invertalon!
  23. Sorry that this is off topic, but I agree...I haven't ridden Flying Turns or any of the other new for 2014 rides, but still I think it should have gone to Harry Potter's Gringott's Bank ride. Hooooow did that not win? Or was it not considered since it basically just opened?
  24. SDC could easily build a 200 foot drop on a coaster that is less than 200 feet tall with its landscape, and it's been said in the past that SDC had wanted to build a coaster with a 200 foot drop around the time that they built Powder Keg. I wouldn't dismiss the idea of a hyper at SDC too quickly. I also agree that a B&M Dive Machine would be an incredible addition to SDC. I've only been on Sheikra, but the new, smaller models also look great! Where might that be Mr. Insider himself? Another family coaster at SDC wouldn't get me very excited, but Fire Chaser Express does look pretty fun. It's just that they have three coasters targeted basically to that same age group, and with Fireman's Landing almost completely geared towards younger children, I would expect something a bit more thrilling than a family ride for their next addition.
