  1. Is there any reason most people think it's a wooden coaster? Sure I'd love to see RMC, or any smooth wooden coaster for that matter, go crazy all over that terrain, but I'm not buying it. Although, maybe I'm wrong for assuming it's a coaster. Judging by the video and Robb's excitement, I'm guessing it's a hyper or a giga coaster with a large first drop while most of the ride is a terrain coaster to follow, similar to much of I-305. I'm also going to guess it's being built by Mack in light of the recent "Green Fire" plans for Liseberg before they changed their minds to go with to Helix. Otherwise I'd guess Intamin is building this one.
  2. I've only been to Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags Great America. I visited Great America before X-flight was built and before New Texas Giant was built. At that time I would say Great America, but Six Flags over Texas wins between the two with New Texas Giant (probably even with X-Flight at SFGAm). If I visit Six Flags Great America this year, that could easily change. However, I'd say Six Flags Great Adventure wins on overall appeal of the park fairly easily with me. Six Flag Magic Mountain looks second best in my opinion (far from number one), with Great America (2014) in third, Over Texas in fourth and Over Georgia in fifth.
  3. I'm jealous...though, Northern Illinois is looking pretty nice in about two months - and I don't mean the weather! Looks like you'll have a new #1 wooden coaster here pretty soon!
  4. I highly doubt I'll play this game even if it is free, but it could appeal to the same audience that plays games on Facebook. Getting this game as a Facebook "app" would probably benefit them quite a bit. I've never really played Farmville, but this does not look too far off from the same idea. I'd say I'm looking forward to just about anything else coaster or game related!
  5. The new shin bars do look nice! The old ones definitely bothered me a bit, so I hope these truly are better. The seatbelt probably won't be much of an issue, but could slow operations on the ride. I would guess that for safety and insurance reasons they are necessary.
  6. I am loving those shots! I can't wait for a POV!
  7. My home park is Worlds of Fun and I actually think it is likely that they will build a coaster next year. Prowler was built in 2008, and the only major thrill ride since then is a relocated Windseeker opening this year. I really hope they don't wait until 2016 or later to add a coaser, but we shall see... I would want: An Intamin LSM launch or blitz coaster, a custom Intamin looping coaster, (in my dreams) an Intamin giga-coaster, a Mack launched coaster, a B&M flying coaster (like Starry Sky Ripper), an S&S launched coaster, or a Giant Frisbee. I'd be pleased with: an Intamin mega-lite (I'd be ecstatic, I just kinda think Worlds of Fun needs a new looping or launched coaster), an Intamin Impulse coaster (over most B&M's), a Maurer-Sohne launched coaster (like Freischutz but with more than one train), a B&M anything or a new log flume as a replacement of Viking Voyage in its current place with its current name. I do not want: anything from Gerstlauer, an S&S El Loco, a clone of Superman at SFDK, a Roller Soaker, a Mack Supersplash, a revamp of Planet Snoopy (or any 'family section' for that matter), or a water park addition with no additions to the amusement park. I'm flexible, but I will be very upset if they build one of my don't wants. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I'm actually scared that Worlds of Fun will get a Gerstlauer...
  8. I'll assume it will run a little faster (and probably a little rougher) in the end, but that's about what I expected. I may say that the coaster looks glorious in its pictures, especially with a train on the tracks, but it just doesn't move that well. That said, the first drop into an airtime hill definitely looks like a success and, following Shambhala's speed hill, a step in the right direction for B&M. As for Heide Park, I would really say that this is a quality addition to their already impressive lineup!
  9. I just wanted to add that Wodan uses polyurethane wheels on top of steel rails on a wooden track!
  10. Kraken has some great moments which are what make the ride stand out to me. While the drop and first loop both are disappointing, the rest of the ride is pretty great. The second half has a good loop and great trenches, but would of course be better at a higher speed. Dive loops are always awesome, and the zero-g roll and cobra roll are easily among my top 5 in their respective elements. I would say it has gotten a little bumpy over the years, though not nearly as bad when the train is full.
  11. Yeah so I know this is out of turn, butt I thought I'd give it a go... big turn.bmp I drew supports on the big turnaround
  12. I think that even if the coaster doesn't have great positive G's, it looks like it will have some pretty good airtime which is something that I think is missing with a lot of looping coasters. I can't think of many coasters that have inversions that look better than this one!
  13. I like the name of the ride. Based on the name, it sounds like the ride should have an outstanding story as each book was named "Harry Potter and the..." Take it how you will, but I thought that their reference to it being multidimensional could mean it will have a drop section or a section where the car is transported/lifted to another track section, or more likely that it will be like Revenge of the Mummy having both "scenes" and coaster sections (which I'd expect either way!).
  14. They still have to install the trims before and after the pretzel loop..they wouldn't forget those, would they?
  15. I may have to make my first trip to KI this year! This is looking awesome...the zero-g roll looks strangely large, but maybe it's just the angle of the webcam.
  16. I'd say it looks like we have a solid coaster right there! Thanks to S&S, the future is looking very bright! -And thanks TPR. I don't think I could see this anywhere else!
  17. Pleasant Surprises: -Runaway Mountain SFoT - I had no idea what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. -Revenge of the Mummy - again, I didn't know what to expect, and I was blown away. -Thunderbolt at Celebration City didn't look so great, but just like Runaway Mountain it had a surprise drop that really made the ride. -Maverick - I expected a lot from the first drop, but I had no idea how awesome it would be! -Expedition Everest - Expectations exceeded! -Mr. Freeze - way better than expected...actually every time I ride I am blown away -I was in Florida when Islands of Adventure soft opened and I had never even heard of the park. Seeing the park next door to Universal, we checked to see if it was open and went the next day. That was an incredible surprise! Unpleasant: -Mean Streak - the one time I rode it the ride was really not that rough, but was so boring that I skipped it on my next trip. -Texas Giant - the old version was, especially after the drop, was very, very rough in my opinion -Flashback at SFoT - I only rode it because I knew the ride was going to be removed...I still kind of wish I had not ridden. -Raging Bull - I'll blame it on the trim brakes, but I was fairly unimpressed with my only B&M hyper coaster
  18. ^He's right! I just remembered how much better Cat in the Hat used to be. I still think the ride is great, but it was toned down quite a bit!
  19. ^I don't get it. To me it seems like the only thing that makes Shambahla stand out from other B&M hypers is its one tiny (yet huge) airtime/speed hill right after the trims...I haven't heard anything positive about its photogenic turnaround. Leviathan, THE B&M giga, actually has a very similar element or two of its own. B&M could go different than Leviathan, but I'd say it's not very likely. At the same time I've never ridden Leviathan, but if it had no trims couldn't the ride be absolutely incredible? I think that drop + barrel roll turn + two good airtime hills could easily make a ride.
  20. The colored paths are a little strange. It kinda looks like someone had fun with sidewalk chalk. The blue path with the circles looks like defunct/drained bumper boats ride! It looks like a fun park for what it's worth!
  21. Just looking at these pictures I'm getting a little freaked out. It's awesome to see something taller than Sheikra in the park though, and a 300+ foot tall coaster would look nice in that shot!
  22. Upcharges like sky coasters, games, and go karts are a noticable portion of a park's income. Would you rather pay more to get into the park? Yeah. I would rather pay $60.00 to have about 40 free rides than $50.00 for 35 free rides. Parks were fine for years without upcharge rides and then around 1995, Sky Coasters, Go Karts, Slingshots, And pay rides starting showing up. Yeah, but think about the line for a Slingshot or a Skycoaster if there was no upcharge. Would you wait 1-2 hours for it? The capacity would be terrible, and a pre-existing one's inclusion with admission being the justification for a price increase may not go over well with the GP. I wouldn't pay extra to ride one at an amusement park, but both are among the most thrilling rides I've ridden and with more than one included it could be worth the extra cost of admission in my opinion.
  23. Seriously, there has to be one musician out there who can ignore this issue (which I just don't think is that big of a deal) and support Sea World for their coasters! I also just can't care enough about these singers and bands who are dropping out.
  24. I'll bet Kanye would do a concert there just for the negative publicity. Someone should seriously pitch that to him...I'd go!
  25. I was afraid it was due to Christmas lights...which could still fall under the category of electrical fault, I just don't think they put any on that building. Obviously they aren't there now!
