  1. I hadn't been to SFOT in a few years, but I never thought La Vibora had looked bad until now. It had this kind of peeling snake-skin look that seemed fitting for the ride and design, but now it looks like it's painted ceramic. The ride looks nice and fresh! I can't say anything about the ride since I've never ridden it...off of looks, the line never seemed justifiable with Titan being a walk-on next door.
  2. I'll say Gwazi. Even though I was a little disappointed with the new trains, I remember some great rides on Gwazi..and then to those who say Ice Dragon is better than Fire, you are wrong!
  3. I almost made a stupid comment about how only one side of the track has those holes in that picture. Those trains look fancier than any PTC's I've seen, and I'll bet they'll be a bit more roomy. Maybe like a less bulky NTAG or like a 4-seater Intamin. I feel like it would be tough to mimic a stagecoach with 2-seater trains, so I'm even more pleased with this design. They also look a little like something from a Wes Anderson movie with those great aesthetics!
  4. Good call! I like that one, too! It really sounds eerie on RoTM! I like the B&M roar, but when standing close it can be a little loud for my liking...but hearing that noise entering a park is always a welcome sound. Along the lines of roars, I think Mr. Freeze actually has a pretty good sound when it runs. The sound pre-fabs make while delivering airtime is pretty cool as well from what I gather on videos, but I've never heard it in person!
  5. No, you're not alone...but not only that airtime hill. I think the airtime hill in the double up on Outlaw Run will be somewhat similar the airtime hill before the break run on NTAG (which by RMC's terms could also be a double up) - in other words, it will be INTENSE!!
  6. I was very surprised to hear they were adding a launched coaster knowing they have Kanonen, but was ecstatic to hear it is coming from Mack! This really does look like one of the world's best looping coasters, but it'd be too hard to tell without riding first. I love that it's a launched looper with 3 good airtime hills and some great inversions. Though I think Intamin's Norwegian loop looks preferable to this Pretzel Loop, Mack's corkscrews look gorgeous on Blue Fire and this ride seems no different. Thank you Liseberg and Mack, for showing us how awesome both of you are. Liseberg went from a top 20 destination park to a top 3 destination park for me, and this just seals the deal that if I built an amusement park I'd save a spot for a Mack looper. For some reason, I think Liseberg is the only one getting my money in this life. -I also love the random math equations in the video from Liseberg. What's up with all the Full Throttle mentions over the last pages of this thread? Six Flags probably had that ride planned since Green Lantern was built. I don't think it's what Full Throttle was supposed to be or should have been...maybe could have been, but never would have been . Okay, except for that "mention,"
  7. It's like somebody from Grandfather's Mansion designed that "Wave Turn"...
  8. So the pictures you posted are really the best I've seen, but the best I've experienced in person would be on Wildfire looking out at Table Rock Lake. I couldn't find a picture from the top of the lift, but here is a link the view from Wildfire's gift shop/viewing area - http://rcdb.com/720.htm?p=1595, basically at the bottom of the coaster. The view from the top of the lift is amazing. They also have a picture from the top of Powder Keg's lift looking toward Wildfire, but I believe it was taken in winter (the bare trees make it less appealing), and the view is definitely better from Wildfire.
  9. I'll go with the Giant Frisbee. Out of the rest that I've ridden, Boosters are awesome because they are insane and Enterprises are just a nice relaxing ride with some weird G's, those would take 2nd and 3rd place.
  10. Another great-looking ride from Mack! I can't think of many spinning coasters I'd rather ride than this one!
  11. I have ridden two boomerangs, Worlds of Fun's Boomerang and SFoT's Flashback, and Flashback probably had the worst restraints of any coaster I've ridden. I was actually able to avoid any headbanging, but that's because the hard shoulder harnesses snapped down a little too tight before we left the station (thanks to the ride op) and then heading in to the Cobra Roll it snapped down waaaay too tight on my shoulders. I really think Six Flags should give the trains or restraints an upgrade if at all possible.
  12. I know this has nothing to do with what was just posted about the copy right issue, but I can't get over how awesome that flying coaster looks. Watching the train go through that zero-g-roll (or inline twist-fly-to-lie) is just awesome...and then the loop and lie-to-fly?! Wow! I saw references a few pages ago, and wasn't sure if it is still on, but this park on TPR's 2012 China Trip? I'd love to hear TPR's thoughts on Starry Sky Ripper!
  13. I'd much rather see a Dive Machine than a Wing Rider, especially if its from B&M... but they could have been talking about a Zac Spin, because those seats are winged and inverting.
  14. I'd say yes, something to do with that tower. I don't see it being used as a queue this time, maybe turning it in to a building for theming of some sort...Assuming we're talking about a future coaster, there's a good plot of land there, and as much as I'd love to see something a little more original for SDC, that's not a bad spot for a Eurofighter like Mystery Mine...or an Aquatrax . Honestly, I can't think of any reason they would keep that tower other than to cover it up as a building for some kind of theming. I guess I've wondered about that one for a while. http://silverdollarcity2013.com/ They added a new video from Branson TV to their videos page. Still not the POV I was hoping for, but still kind of cool. Branson TV is sort of like an info channel for tourists that just promotes shows and attractions in the area. I remember a long time ago seeing the promo for Buzzsaw Falls on that channel, during that trip to Branson I went to the park and Buzzsaw Falls was testing, due to open the following week! Not the best memory, but then again after riding Buzzsaw Falls I realized I didn't miss out on much.
  15. Do they know what Mr. Freeze is? Maybe they got stuck on Titan...I agree that the LIMs up there wouldn't stop the ride. I think they could certainly slow it down enough to not make it through the course though. I call b.s. on your cousins
  16. These trips look like a ton of fun! I've never ridden an SLC, but that just looks awful. The airtime hill reminded me of something you'd find on a very rough wooden coaster. I would honestly love to ride that spinning coaster. It looks like some there's some good spinning on the ride!
  17. This ride was built before Shambhala...I'd love to see a ride like this, or better, from S&S in the states sometime soon!
  18. When I went there was no line...The ride gives little airtime, even in the back. Yet I'm almost greatful for that, because I went about two weeks ago and the little airtime I got was rough, so rough that I felt the need to staple myself to avoid getting air. I didn't remember it being rough on my previous visits, but I was unpleasantly surprised. However, some guy was re-riding at least 3 times while I was over there and I'd assume he got 20 in the whole day judging (no pun intended) on his attitude...Maybe it's just not for me...it mostly seems boring for a coaster. Due to the short line, I'd probably ride JRS the next time I go, but I would only rank it slightly above Flashback. At the same time for SFoT it is well worth keeping - definitely worth refurbishment, but not worthy of New Texas Giant style refurb - plus, as the park's only woodie, who wants that? I'm not so excited for the Sky Screamer. I haven't ridden one, but they definitely intimidate me to a higher degree than a 400 ft tall coaster. If the wait was longer than 20 minutes, I'd probably skip it, otherwise it could be fun. I'm looking forward to the next year or two...maybe that Dive Machine rumor will come to fruition!
  19. I hope they'll run the ride at a good capacity...At least it has 3 cars per train and could probably run 3 trains, and it's a short second half. seeing one train going through the loop while the other went over the loop definitely looked cool in the video, and with a loop that big I'll bet that'd just be iconic in person. I'm mad about this top hat thing...if this is a top hat, then what are all these other "top hats." I like the second inversion a lot...it reminds me of the Flying Snake Dive on Storm Runner! I could go for a Mr. Peanut, Mr. Monopoly, or Penguin re-theme for Full-Throttle and its "Top Hat"...all are suitable replacements.
  20. This ride looks like a lot of fun, just not what I would expect from SFMM. However, it's not far from what I'd expect for the tallest loop on a coaster these days nor far from what I'd expect from Premier. The second inversion looks nice, and it certainly fits SFMM's theme of unusual coasters. Uhhh....I can't believe they started the video with "YOLO"
  21. "In this photo, the red head is thinking about 3 things. '1) Am I sitting next to a girl or a guy? 2) Why do those girls in front of us look so blurry, and 3) Man, I can't wait to ride Outlaw later.' "
  22. I would say Gotham City (Batman, Superman, etc.) is the only theming I care about at Six Flags parks. I'm not huge in to the comics, but I enjoy the rides and their themes (for what they are). In some cases it makes the queue somewhat interesting. Looney Toons might be good for kids, but looks like it could be better. Themed rides such as mine trains are always nice as well, even though I usually don't ride them. Now if Six Flags was to go over the top and build a park like Island of Adventure, I would be all for that...
  23. I was there a week ago and was very pleased with the staff. I've only been to two Six Flags parks, but it was more than I expected from prior visits! I was very surprised to read this. Sure it isn't the most beautiful park, and it's in the middle of a city in an area that presents no charm (nothing at all like SDC), but in terms of scenery I think you're holding Six Flags up to a standard that it can't and won't meet. I get what you think the park is lacking...but it's Six Flags.
  24. I went to SFOT on Monday, and I really chose a great day to go. The lines weren't bad, the weather was in the 90's, and got to ride New Texas Giant, Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast, and Flashback for my first time today. I did not take any pictures, but I definitely had a great time! New Texas Giant - Got 4 rides in - waited 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 15 minutes, and 10 minutes respectively. I rode in the back twice, and the ride really just blew me away. I had never felt airtime much like that before...The front delivered some amazing air as well, sometimes in different spots, but every time that little hill before the MCBR is the wildest airtime I've ever experienced on a coaster. The second overbanked turn gave a good yank with some air in the back that was just awesome. I'd say there were at least 4 good, ejector air spots on the ride whether you're in front or back. Titan - Pretty good ride, got 2 rides in with a walk on and a one train wait for the back...the first drop is always disappointing with the lack of airtime, but the floater hill is definitely my favorite part of the ride. The helices are almost too intense, but I love it at the same time. Superman - Just might be my favorite S&S tower (Dr. Doom is right up there). They were running Blue and Yellow, and I got one ride on both with about a 15 and 5 minute wait. My brother and I didn't really even feel the need to take the single rider line since we got so much in. The two towers gave a slightly different ride (when I rode at least). The blue side had a much better launch, while on the yellow side I didn't even get air at the top - and on blue we had a jerk when we hit the top before the big drop, while yellow was completely smooth. The drop on both were just insane, and the height certainly adds to it. Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast - Loved it. I got three rides in, the first two were both 30-40 minutes, the last one was probably 20 minutes. Everyone riding seemed to be having the best time. The backward launch wasn't much better, but going up through top hat wild. Entering the element backwards first was crazy, and the drop was great! Batman - The ride ops were slow, stacking the train every time, but I didn't wait more than 10 minutes for the back row either time. I really enjoy the ride. It's fast, intense, disorienting, and surprises me with its intensity every time. The second time I rode it seemed to be running even better, and I greyed out after the second loop and the following helix. Flashback - The first time I walked by, I decided to skip it. I saw riders heads banging, and there was a 3-4 train wait. The second time I just figured since I probably wouldn't get the chance to ride it again, and because the line was a little shorter, I might as well ride it at least once. So get on the ride and I have my very uncomfortable feeling/looking restraints sitting nice and comfortable on my body, and the ride op pushed it down one to many notches...then somewhere while going forwards in the Cobra Roll it went down another notch or two. The thing was digging in to my shoulders the whole second half of the ride...however, I did manage to avoid some headbanging. Worlds of Fun's Boomerang was much, much better. Judge Roy Scream - Fairly boring...I rode in the back, and the little air I got caused me some pain at the bottom of a couple drops. My brother tipped me off to pull the restraints down a bit farther to avoid getting any air at all, which certainly helped. There wasn't much of a line, and I saw one guy ride once on the train before me, once on my train, and he was re-riding again after I got off...what is he thinking? Shockwave - Didn't wait long for this one, and managed to get the second to last seat. I love the loops, and the last two drops give some great air! Always a fun ride! Runaway Mountain - I had ridden the ride before, so I wasn't quite as surprised by the ride - but it is still fun! Much better than JRS or Flashback! Plus, there was only a two train wait and they were running 3 trains! I will say I enjoyed the ride ops for the most part. It seemed like they were having fun at work, and the people in the booth were always trying to get people excited to ride. Some of them were pretty goofy, but I liked that Six Flags lets (or almost encourages) the ride ops to be upbeat and interactive over the microphones. The slow ride ops at Batman were really just slow because of interacting with the guests, each other, and taking care of the loose article bin situation... Also, I really think Six Flags could do a little more than coordinate colors there. Since so many riders have to put loose articles aside, I don't get why they can't just have 2-3 sets of bins that are each labeled to a specific row of each train. Instead of making people from the back of the train walk to the blue bin up front, they could split the front and back of the trains. That aside, I had a great day at SFoT. New Texas Giant cracks my top 10, maybe top 5 coasters!
  25. I've ridden Batman: The Ride at SFOT and The Dark Knight coaster at SFGAm. Obviously I'll go with Batman at SFOT...it packs a good punch and is very disorienting - I wish I hadn't skipped it when I went to SFGAm! Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE does look pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd take it over B: TR even if I had ridden it.
