  1. I would count both of Thunderation's tunnels as theming. They also have some random props down there, right? I haven't raised a stink yet, but my main problem with the presentation of the ride (in the video at least) is the placement of the launches. I think they look somewhat awkward running through the rest of Time Traveler's layout. It would be nice to see some sort of theming thrown in there, especially with the ride coming to a complete stop, but it would've looked even better with the launches running under the rest of the layout like on Taron.
  2. I've only ridden Skyrush three times, and I would say it's in my top 5, but I do need to ride it again to decide where it falls. The first drop is one of the clearest memories I have of the ride. In the back seat, after the initial yank of airtime and knowing the second one yank was coming, I just could not manage to keep my hands up. It is one coaster moment that actually scared me, but I absolutely love it.
  3. Uhhhh... okay? He's probably comparing them due to the sequence of multiple straight airtime hills (first for RMC) Based on what I've seen from construction, I think the third airtime hill in that sequence may be banked (to the left, the opposite direction of the following turn). The animation may not be a 100% accurate representation of the ride, so it's possible we could see other differences, as with Twisted Colossus and Wicked Cyclone. I'm so glad KD is getting this. Their lineup is going from good to great!
  4. This ride is going to be sweet. Spinning has never bothered me, and thank God, because the sensation of spinning combined with inversions, airtime, speed, launches, and a 90 degree drop, is just going to be insane. This is basically what I dreamed of as a kid, and it's happening at a park I can visit yearly!
  5. If they are involving coasters? Yes, I love them! Those shots were great, especially the first two. The track on Patriot takes up a lot of the third picture, but is still cool to be able to see all the way to the Immelman from that angle.
  6. If he's the one asking the question, does he need any credibility?
  7. I think those clues could also be referring to some type of storm, particularly a nautical storm.
  8. SDCFan88 - I would say that is almost exactly what I was thinking in terms of the background. However, I didn't consider the tie-in to Wildfire's story and I think that is just brilliant!
  9. DC traffic probably won't be that bad at 8 or 9 PM on a Wednesday. I-95 dies down quite a bit by 7:30, but (not to scare you) accidents occur often in Maryland so you never really know. I always use traffic apps (Waze) to navigate around DC, as there are a few different routes you can take in case one is jammed. Once you get south of DC though, you will have less options. I'm not aware of Kings Dominion's official rain policy, but I've seen most rides run in light rain.
  10. Given the reputation of this park's clientele, that sounds like a supremely bad idea. Six Flags America was downright the cruisiest Six Flags I've ever visited.
  11. I'm pretty sure that was added after it was opened. As a child, I remember feeling like my legs were going to be ripped off during the batwing, so I would say yes. With or without the trim, it's still one of my favorite coaster elements on any B&M.
  12. Wow! That looks sweet! To your earlier posts about the SDC teasers, I could definitely see them incorporating some sort of theming involving early attempts at flight, although that's not too far off from Wildfire's story if I remember correctly.
  13. I think I anticipate RMC's Meanstreak more, but seeing what they've done with that only gets me more excited for Hurler. Whether Hurler has an inverted drop, a steep drop, or whatever else RMC comes up with, it looks like it'll get a good bit of speed from the initial drop off the lift.
  14. I haven't heard about a 2001 tunnel renovation. I thought it had a re-purposed Jim Owens tunnel until 2005-ish when they replaced it with the current boring empty concrete tunnel due to structural issues. It's a shame they didn't use more of the old Jim Owen's flume. I think it's kind of funny how much of it is still just out there in the woods with in-tact theming and all. Without the old tunnel, it's a much more "blah" ride than any ride at SDC should be. I may be misremembering then. I thought the new blah tunnel was built at the same time as Wildfire. The old Jim Owens tunnel was awesome. That ride was so much better before Wildfire. I remember the old theming, too, and definitely wish SDC would add something to the tunnel. That part of the ride used to have some excitement to it and now it seems awkwardly silent with an annoying fake out water effect at the end (I think that was added at some point, too). As a kid, I remember being caught off guard and a little creeped out by the one or two "scenes." If I remember correctly, it wasn't too far off from what SDC has on The Flooded Mine, but on a smaller scale - but then again I could be confusing the two rides. I haven't actually ridden American Plunge in a while, mainly because by the time I've wanted to ride it, the line is long and Wildfire's line is empty.
  15. I always dreamed of SDC building a coaster that dropped into the ravine on the other side of Indian Point Road, which I believe aligns perfectly to where this new ride is being built. I really don't see that happening, but it would be one big, steep drop.
  16. I think the teaser hints at the Time Traveler theme more than anything.
  17. ^I'm pretty sure that AstrumSpark is a troll who is probably laughing his ass off every time he posts, and then he gets another round of laughs when people respond.
  18. The lower element in the second to last picture looks sweet. Overall I love the look of the B&M!
  19. What the hell? Did they get Tom Delonge to do the marketing for this thing whatever the hell this is because they're being so damn cryptic? But to be fair, at least gives the enthusiasts (including myself) to lose their shit analyzing this. Thank you for calling out Tom Delonge. I think the message is far from cryptic, because theme parks always say stuff like this over small additions, but thank you.
  20. Phantasialand is building a launched flying coaster. You may have to leave anyway!
  21. ^If this is a "world's first," that would make sense as there is already a launched spinning coaster with inversions. I feel like a non-spinning coaster has the potential to be more intense, so I do hope there is no spinning factor, but I am guessing the coaster will be pretty wild either way. I definitely do not think this will be a family coaster like Cobra's Curse. I was in the area last week and didn't get to visit the park, but you could see the construction from Indian Point Road (I was staying at a resort down the road), and the new, large construction gate was open on Wednesday and Thursday. I must say I was surprised at how high the station looked above the ground and hill below. We may be getting a kick-ass drop right out of the station! The pictures above are probably better than the one I grabbed driving by. My phone is beyond messed up at the moment, but we'll see if the picture was backed up once my replacement comes in.
  22. There was some yanking, but I think I did sit in the second to last row and didn't get much air. I would prefer Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion to Wild One. Going into that helix is always a bit of an "oh shit" moment, but I prefer the intensity of Roar.
  23. When I rode Mind Eraser, I passed on the VR, partially because I'd never been on the ride and I assumed it would be rough (it was), but also because the regular line had no wait. I think I ended up waiting 20-30 minutes for two trains to be sent. That was very early in the season, but last week it didn't look much better and I got as far away from Mind Eraser as I could. That being said, the place has been relatively dead each time I've visited and I've gotten to ride the other coasters plenty of times. Most of the guests visiting were families with small children, so you could get re-rides on most of the thrill rides throughout the day. Out of the three times I've visited the park, I don't think I stayed more than four hours. -Superman is my favorite ride in the park, due to a great drop, the second (ejector) airtime hill, and the third (twisting + ejector) airtime hill. The first hill didn't give much airtime, but it was still thrilling, and the last two hills into the breaks had good airtime. I understand why the two large helices exist, yet at the same time I don't... 9/10 -Batwing is incredibly disorienting, easily my second favorite ride in the park, and way better than the B&M Superman clones. 8/10 -Jokers Jinx is an awesome ride, and while the launch doesn't do much for me, the ending packs a punch. 7/10 -Roar was a bit of a surprise for me. The ride felt fast and out of control at some parts, which I did not expect. While the ride was pretty bumpy, it didn't seem all that rough. 7/10 -Mind Eraser was fun, but pretty rough. I can't imagine riding with VR and not being able to brace for some of those transitions. I skipped a front row ride and rode in the second row to avoid waiting another 15 minutes waiting for the train to dispatch. Mind Eraser was my first SLC, and I guess I can appreciate the different experience it offers compared to a B&M invert. 6/10 -Apocalypse was okay in the front row. Any other row I've ridden was awfully rough, causing the need to stick my head forward to avoid some nasty headbanging. 5/10 -Wild One was trash. It was rough with no airtime and little thrill factor. I think I'd rather wait in line for Rajin Cajun. 4/10 Voodoo Drop is a great flat and proves that size doesn't matter, if you're an Intamin Drop tower. The Stupid Name Fireball was also fun, but I couldn't see myself standing in line for it or riding more than once per visit, if at all. I'll get back to the park soon enough and give some of the water rides and the water park a try, but it will be tough to beat these early season days with no crowds. Overall the park was good, but again, I barely waited in any lines. I think a couple good flats and a new coaster would be great for the park, but hey, I would say that about every park.
  24. ^I'm not all that surprised to be honest. So many people lose their phones, sunglasses, and other items on El Toro. Last week, while waiting in line, I saw someone's phone fly out of their pocket and shatter on the track below. That just doesn't seem too safe being that it landed 10 feet from the queue line. Although keeping items in a zippered pocket would prevent that from happening, I just don't think the park wants to take those chances anymore. Also while waiting in line for El Toro last week, I saw someone - excuse me - I saw some dumbass throw their hat off at the top of Kingda Ka. I hope they looked cool when they got kicked out of the park.
