  1. I can definitely understand how you feel as I have a fear of heights myself. Here's some tips: - Watch the POV's of a coaster that you've never been on multiple times so you know what to expect. - Start off on the smaller coasters in the park to work the way up. - If you're like me, that you're fear is more to do with falling than the actual height, I like to keep in mind that even though I'm at a height and what goes up must come down, I'm not coming out of this train, and the train is on a track so theres only one way it can go. My fear is not so much heights but more so to do with falling from a height and SPLAT! onto the ground. - "Know your limit, play within it". If you feel too uncomfortable while waiting in line, don't worry about making a fool of yourself if you have to back out. In the past, I've had to back out of riding certain coasters because I just didn't think I was up for it. Backing out doesn't make you a wimp no matter what anyone tells you, it actually shows that you know your own limit and respect it. And remember it's ok to be scared. Fear is a natural response. - Some people find that while waiting in line, watching the coaster go puts their mind at ease by knowing what to expect (they're usually general public, as they don't know about watching POVs ahead of time!). If watching the coaster go makes you more nervous, try looking away from the coaster and thinking about something else. - Learning relaxation techniques and mindfulness can help too in the long run, not just for coasters but the general fear. If the fear really bothers you enough that it affects your everyday activities, it would be advisable to speak to a counsellor or someone you trust. (Mind you, I'm not a psychiatrist or a doctor in anyway) - Whatever you do, don't hold your breath if you get too scared. Just scream, it helps get the adrenaline going and gets the oxygen to your brain so you don't pass out from being too fear. You'll actually feel less scared when you scream. ~ Jess "Psychiatric help: 5 cents" Chan
  2. Yes, definatly take breaks every so many rides or you'll wear yourself out. Make sure you are able to handle heavy positive G loads if the ride you're doing has them. Just remember that you're having a coaster marathon to raise money, not trying to play a blackout game! If you don't think you can handle riding for that long, don't push it. Like someone already said "better safe than sorry". I'm not saying you should have fun and enjoy yourself, but "Know your limit, play within it." That sounds familliar? Might want to give this a read too: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6935437.stm
  3. You should definately visit Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland. Never been to either myself, but I hear that rollercoasters in Hong Kong are the really thrilling type as theme parks there are mostly visted by families with younger children. Doesn't say that us credit collectors are not welcome though! I've been to The Peak and the Worlds Biggest Buddah statue, very worth visiting. Are you going to Macau too? If so, go to Macau Tower! (no rollercoasters but its a landmark)
  4. Congratulations! I wanted to be a ride op for awhile...Maybe next year? I applied to be a ride op too at my local park but I got rejected. They said that the only job open availiable was sweeper. I took it. Also I heard that being a ride op can be fun but also stressful. You might get yelled at by people and be prepared to break the news to kids not tall enough to ride standing on their tippy toes. ~ Jess "A failed ride op sweeping garbage at Playland" Chan
  5. Definately gives that term a whole new meaning! Well if instead of Alton Towers it was Six Flags Magic Mountain used for testing, it would really be "X" rated... Get it? Those are definately some pretty women indeed too!
  6. I also like Chang because it's my last name. Not exactly but close enough. They're simular names.
  7. Going there in less than a month! Hoping to hit SFDK too! Are the lines usually that short? Because I hope I can get on every single coaster there as well as afew flats. Especially the drop tower, as I haven't ridden an Intamin drop tower for afew years.
  8. That totally made my day! Or night I should say as it's past midnight right now...
  9. Going to Kings Island and Cedar Point next summer for graduation trip! Viking's Fury has been "castrated" so it doesn't go upside down now right? Thanks for the TR, making me more excited for summer 2010!
  10. Another Schwartzkopf to be removed... If it's going anywhere, it's probably going to be another park in Europe.
  11. 196... I guess I should stop wasting too much time researching rollercoasters and get a life!
  12. Human powered looping bicycle rides? I thought I've seen those in China before. The orginal Legoland looks fun! Whats it like to ride a robocoaster? I've never ridden one before.
  13. Well the park shouldn't be giving away Playboy posters in the first place. There could be other kids like him that want it "just for the bunny" and think it's cute. Good for them for no longer giving away the posters.
  14. This is kinda ridiculous... I knew what Playboy was when I was 11, not that I had any interest in it or anything. Not from TV or magazines, but from just listening to other people talk. No there was no girl on the poster. It's just the Playboy bunny logo that says "Members Only" as already mentioned. ~ Jess "Knows that miday games give out more than just stuffed animals" Chan
  15. I've seen one of those few years ago at the Macau Tower in Macau, China. Looks cool to watch, but not something I'd try thanks to my fear of heights.
  16. How could I forget Behemoth? Awesome name. Robin Hood, Bandit, Magnum Force (The one that used to e at Flamingoland, not the son of MF and Magnum XL!) and Silver Bullet sound cool too. ~ Jess "Don't judge a coaster by it's name" Chan
  17. Yes its an Intamin prototype launched spinner. Gerstlauer spinners don't have OTSRs. Haha Kidtums I bet you're too innocent to know what all those things that daddy is making you say mean! Lucky kid...gets to go everywhere at such a young age while I was stuck at home most of the time.
  18. Titan. It's cooler than all those other names that are used everywhere and those "Whatever: The ride" ones.
  19. Haha at all the X-rated themeing. "Bon Bon Land" sounds like an innocent kiddie park at first untill you see what REALLY goes on inside. ~ Jess "X2 Rated, not X rated" Chan
  20. Love the "Nerd Shot" of Millennium Force's cable lift mechanism.
  21. Behemoth is totally worth it. When I rode it last year I had to wait 2 hours... The ones with slow capacity are: The Bat, Time Warp, etc I think Vortex had some changes to the loading process which caused some delays... Still worth it, very fun suspended. The flats I'd recommend if you have time are: Sledge Hammer(HUSS Giant Jump), Shockwave (Mondial Topscan), Psyclone (Mondial Revolution), Drop Tower (Intamin Tower), Jet Scream (Intamin starship). Also if you happen to visit the Niagra area, might wanna get the credits at Marineland too.
  22. Both of the ones I've see in person are standup ones. Are the sitdown ones even rarer?
  23. Nice seeing such retro pictures. I am going to SFDK next month and I am so excited! Any pictures of Kong or Roar's construction? Is the B&M "Sea Serpent" the same as Vekoma's "Sea Serpent Roll" found on mass produced SLC's?
  24. I remembered when I was like 5 and there was one at a childrens festival or something. I wanted to ride it because it looked so cool but sadly I wasn't tall enough and went home crying. Fast foreward 8 years and I was at this mini golf place called Giggle Ridge up in Cultus Lake. They had one and me not feeling well that day decied to just stand behind the lines and watch it. That's probably the last time I have seen a human gyroscope in person and I think they still have it. I think some of the local "party rental" companies may own them.
  25. Nice TR. How is the hangtime on mystery mine? (I'm thinking that may be my first Eurofighter as I'm a total Gerstlauer virgin) Is Timber Tower really that thrilling? I hear it's not, along with other topple towers... ~ Jess "Someday I'll ride a Gerstlauer...someday..." Chan
