  1. Or Screamin' Squirrel would work. But neither dangle your feet so that rules out both of them. Cost and space wise, most likely would be an SLC or Family Suspended.
  2. Ah Rim Runner... The only ride in the Adventuredome I actually enjoyed (but then again, I was about 8). My farewells An SLC sounds like it would work. And the new SLC's are not hang and bangs anymore. Have you seen the new trains that will be used in Vekoma's future projects? Thinking about it, would a Eurofighter fit? I really doubt a B&M woud work because of the rumble and noise those things make. Oh yes, and cost too. Those things can easily add up to 10 million. ~ Jess "I am a B&M, hear me roar!" Chan
  3. Having Playland as my home park, I'm certainly able to help you! How easy is it to get to Playland from Vancouver by using public transportation? You could take the skytrain to 29th ave. station and then switch to the Hastings bus (I think it's number 135) or I believe there's also a "PNE" bus that leaves from the metrotown bus loop. How much time will I need to spend there to get everything in? Playland is pretty small compared to like Six Flags or CF parks, but you'd be looking to spend about 2-3 hours there give or take or maybe even less. There aren't really that many rides there, about 50 I'd say? Fair at the PNE is a whole different story though. How crowded does it get in the middle of July? Depends which day you go. The lineups for Coaster and Corkscrew and sometimes Hellavator can get quite packed. Although Coaster is really efficient loading and unloading wise, when it's packed you can expect about 30 - 50 minutes wait if not an hour. If you're going in July, you might even see me sweeping garbage or operating rides or something! (if I get the job that is)
  4. The boomerang at Six Flags over Texas (named Flashback) is quite smooth for a coaster of it's kind. It did make me abit dizzy though because of the forces. As boomerangs/invertigos pull 5.2 g's max. The reason you get dizzy during the backwards part is because you can't see where you're going. That's why when you have motion sickness it's not good to close your eyes. (unless you're lying down for a rest of course). ~ Jess "I'm not really a doctor" Chan
  5. Yes, because we don't want blackouts. Or the next level up...Passing out lol I just noticed on the Flight Deck picture, when were the seat belts added? I don't remember arrow swinging suspendeds ever having them. (I rode Vortex at CW like 3 years ago) Speaking of Flight Deck anyways, I love the "artistic shot attempt"! I love all artistic shots of any coaster. I'm already planning my Ohio KI and CP trip for 2010 graduation!
  6. Personally I do not count modifications to a coaster I've already ridden a "new ride". I just go by, once I've ridden it, new paint or new trains, no new credit. Even name changes don't count for me. I also count dueling and racing coasters as 2 seperate too. That means I'll write them down as 2 seperate entries in my notebook. Although I"m a dueling and racing coaster virgin at the moment!
  7. Man...the last time I was in Vegas was when I was like 8 lol! I was too ignorant to know about all that goes on in the city of sin that never sleeps! I remembered watching the old version of the pirate show and the volcano show at the Mirage. I remembered getting so freaked out at the firey parts and wanting to run away thinking that I would get burnt by the "lava"! As for the attempt at the "really cool car" picture, forget the car! The truck that got in the way is even cooler I'd say! Nice pictures Big Mike! Brings back me old memories... ~ Jess "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" Chan
  8. I'm going to CGA in July for sure now. Not sure what day, but I wonder if I'll see any of you who work there on that day. If you see me (if you recognize me that is), don't say anything because I'll be with my dad, cousin, and uncle (maybe) so don't say anything like you know me.
  9. And launched too I assume? The Red Vs Blue dueling coasters with one each side a different type of train being used sounds interesting! I know which side I'd pick to go on first! Hmm a Madagascar ride...I have a feeling I know what the theme song will be! ~ Jess "I like to move it-move it" Chan
  10. I still live Murphy's Law, so I tend to hold on to any "convenient object" during an inversion. Whether that'd be a handle, seat divider, or even a friend/family member's arm! Hangtime? more like "hang on tight time!" As for the SS Endaever, I'm going to go on it. Thanks for the advice about the few inches slack (as I'm a girl, it might be abit uncomfortable).
  11. Did you ride Jet Scream too? I've ridden it too, didn't like it much. Atleast I didn't find the hangtime painful as I'm a girl. I just in general don't like rides that stop you upside down. That used to be my worst childhood nightmare, rollercoasters stopping upside down. I also knew what happens when you stop a spinning bucket of water upside down...
  12. Hangtime freaks me out. I've been afraid of heights since I was 5 or even less unfortunately.... I often end up with hangtime because I also hate being stapled due to claustrophobia problems. The only time I didn't mind hangtime was on my local park's HUSS Top Spin. The current program they have gives alot of hangtime. ~ Jess "Don't leave me hangin'" Chan I just put my hands up for the hell of it.
  13. I'm kinda jealous you got in so many rides on Behemoth... As for teh food at Wonderland, I'm not a fan of it either. Drinks are too watery (what theme park sells un-watery drinks these days?), popcorn was burnt. Everything was overpriced. Even my Behemoth on ride photo I thought was a rip off too. Meh, last year when I did Behemoth, I waited 2 hours in line and had only gotten in 1 ride. I swear we could have lined up one more time if one of my cousins didn't have to co to summer school the next day...
  14. Wild mouse at Playland. That thing was a screeching metal deathtrap anyways. A farewell video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogeBOvOLjd8&feature=channel_page Also the off the shelf Zamperla Dragon, also formerly at Vancouver Playland.
  15. Those firehawk pictures are nice! Very artistic! Same can be said for the Diamondback track photos! Do you mind if I save that picture of Backlot showing the "launch mechanism" in the station? I've been looking for a picture of the Premier Rides launch system for awhile. ~ Jess "LIM nerd" Chan
  16. Yeah, my aunt told me that Nor Tx does get alot of bad weather like this around this time of the year. She heard about the tornado warning too. I'm glad I went during my March break and the weather was great! ~ Jess "Thunder-struck" Chan
  17. Whops, totally wasn't reading! So would I, it sounds fun! Malleable coaster... Each time you ride would be different because the flexibility of the track!
  18. Auto Tuning Coaster....Hmmm... Never needs maintainence? I don't think they'll call their inverted "suspended coaster" as they patented it as the "inverted". http://bolliger-mabillard.com/products/products_en.aspx
  19. Is fireball the same as Ring of Fire? I have never seen a Fireball or Ring of Fire upclose so I can't really say.
  20. As for Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland, anyone know about whether it's REALLY getting new trains? Or its just something a fanboy/girl put on Wikipedia (most likely). If it does get new trains, I'm hoping they're themed to an F-14 fighter jet to match the rest of the theming. I mean after all Flight Deck IS the most themed ride in the whole park. As for standup floorless, Intamin made stand up DROP TOWERS that are floorless. I believe one's in UK and one's in Spain. But floorless standup coaster would be too painful as the way the forces work on a coaster is different than a drop tower. ~ Jess "Don't trust Wiki" Chan
  21. Wow Freefall drop ride without OTSRs. I doubt you'd see that in North America at least with the bigger drop towers. Is it a really intense ride?
  22. Love the "vekoma through a vekoma" shot. Very artistic. As for the weird seat divider things, unfortunately they will be if not already are standard issue gear for PTC trains... Afterburn's looking pretty sexy with the new "blue" theming! In my opinion the yellow just looks too much like the numerous Batman clones. ~ Jess "Stop bastardizing the beautiful wood coasters with modern safety features" Chan
  23. Uh..Mantis IS a standup coaster. Unless you meant by taking out the entire "standup trains" and changing it to sit down. My mistake then.
  24. Ouch, for the guys atleast! If that ride wasn't already painful as it is! As for the article about flight deck getting new trains, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_Deck_(Canada%27s_Wonderland) ~ Jess "that's one good thing about being a girl" Chan
  25. Can't argue with you on that B&M's in general part! I kinda like the new paint on Bizzaro too. Although I still prefer the old "Medusa" scheme in some ways.
