  1. Sounds pretty cool to visit old deserted theme parks like that. Feels like a ghost town for sure! I have this strange attraction for deserted buildings and such and I'm sure someday I'll take a tour around a deserted theme park! ~ Jess "is not afraid of ghosts" Chan
  2. Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland the year it first came out, my cousins dragged me on it and I had never even ridden an upside down ride before. It wasn't that rough back then. And it didn't screech like a flying cage death trap either back then. It's also the one and only flying coaster I've ever ridden.
  3. ^ Ahhh I don't want to get head banged! That's probably how I'd react on a boomerang too. Got it from here. Its not my picture. http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=662104&page=4 ~ Jess "off to never ever land" Chan An overrated trick, but I'll post it since nobody has posted it yet.
  4. http://xkcd.com/chesscoaster/ Most of you have probably already seen those pictures but they always give me a good laugh! There's also alot of photos out there of people pretending to fall asleep, overrated trick in my opinion. When I was at SFOT and lining up to buy my picture, I noticed so many falling asleep poses! This one too, makes me laugh my head off! I remembered I used to play with ones of those when I was little.
  5. Me on Titan last week. Don't remember whether this was right after or before I greyed out and started seeing things. I was like the only asian on the entire train!
  6. I'd have to say, the modified version looks alot "cooler". Looks like something out of the "Alien" movie series (which I really love). Whacking the limit switches...Hmmm. Lets just leave it at curiosity killed the cat. Redundant does not always = Better For loading times have become hell. They should have some sort of "check handle" like how some Intamins have. That should save some time. ~ Jess "Time is money" Chan
  7. Great TR. Makes me want to go to SFMM even more! But what's with the redundant orange seat belt on Deja? I did say redundant for a reason...I can definately see alot of loading delays there. I never noticed that in the pictures before and I have a feeling they were not original equipment... And is that Mr Six I see in one of those pictures? Horray for Mr Six! ~ Jess "Hurry up" Chan
  8. Mr Six is a such a character... So glad I got to see him when I was at SFOT last week. I didn't get chance to get a picture taken with him or dance with him as there were just too many people... ~ Jess "Mrs. Six" Chan
  9. Like I said before, Batman was my first ever time on a B&M invert. So getting stuck while trying to get off is not surprizing but embarassing. Has it ever happened to anyone else's first time on an invert? I just hope I'm not the only one...
  10. Batman is really smooth and I noticed that both the wingovers "jerk" you abit right before flipping you upside down. Batman seems to have so much forces that they give you no hangtime at all really. I swear I didn't even lift out of the seat once. I'd have to say that getting stuck getting off Batman was quite an embarassment... Everyone was looking at me and little kids were pointing their fingers at me. ~ Jess "Ooops I did it again" Chan
  11. Reminds me of another time when me and a teacher from my school were talking about Vancouver Playland. Teacher: I remembered many years ago I heard about some kid fell off the wave swinger ride. He didn't die but broke quite afew bones. And I heard about somebody fell off Coaster too and got ran over by the train. Me: There's always rumours about how unsafe Coaster is... Teacher: How do you know they're rumours? Me: Because I checked www.rideaccidents.com Teacher: Is that a reliable source? Me: You're just trying to tell me not to get on that ride again, aren't ya? I did not find any record of someone flying off and getting run over by the train. The closest thing I found was the train derailing, right here: http://www.rideaccidents.com/2004.html#aug26
  12. I was at SFOT and I was in line for Mr Freeze on the Flashpass line. I didn't want to go all the way back downstairs to hand my credit log book to my mom because while I was waiting in line I was logging my credits. So the conversation between me and another person in line went like this: Stranger lady: Why are you writing down every ride you go on in your journal? Me: Because I'm a coaster enthusiast. Stranger lady: So you're obsessed with roller coasters? Me: Yeah basically. I keep track of how many coasters I've ridden. Her husband: I think that's abit over the top. Me: I'm not the only one... Stranger lady: Oh ok, but aren't you worried about your journal flying away during the ride? You're better off just tucking it in your pants pocket. Me: (puts the book in my pocket) I'll make sure I keep my hand on it during the launch and inversions just incase.
  13. Well I think last time I had a total blackout which was 3 years ago, I just had some pretty adverse reactions (which I never told a doctor about either). I think I might have actually gone into shock that time as I had never pulled such G's before that (yes, g-LOC can cause shock). I didn't really eat much that day and I was quite tired, so maybe that affected it? And my fear of heights too? I didn't do Dive Bomber Alley because of my fear of heights. Titan, Behemoth, other coasters etc don't really bother me that much as I know I'm not flyin' out of that train from 200+ ft up in the air! Titan I did panic abit going up the lift hill. I was covering my eyes with my hands and going "what goes up must come down...." over and over again untill we DROPPED! I had bruised my upper left leg on Judge Roy Scream earlier that day and I asked not to be stapled by the ride op because of my bruise and she was nice enough to listen. But the helix wasn't! ~ Jess "Warning: keep away from vulnerable heights" Chan
  14. Dueling Dragons and Hulk are the first 2 that come to mind.
  15. The guys at first aid were quite helpful. But I think that going on 3 intense coasters (Mr Freeze, Batman, Shockwave) before Titan probablly made it worse too. ~ Jess "Lights out" Chan
  16. I'd say any B&M that hasn't had its tracks filled with sand. Or my local off the shelf coaster, Corkscrew. The sound of the lift chain is so annyoing, you can hear it all the way from like the other end of the park... I might be working at Playland this year, and I'm going to have to put up with that for like long hours everyday! ~ Jess "Lion's roar" Chan
  17. My favourite ride there would have to be a tie between Batman, or Titan, with Mr Freeze being my second favourite there. Flashback was really smooth for some reason. Was it smooth when you went before? As for the first aid trip, I just thought I'd get checked out since I felt numb and cold afterwards and thats how I felt last time I had any reactions to G-force. Did you get the flashpass last time you went? My mom thought it was abit pricy but I thought it was well worth it. ~ Jess "Pennywise" Chan
  18. March 19th, 2009 My aunt and uncle in Texas as well as my mom hate rollercoasters. So our family friend decided to take us to SFOT instead. My mom didn't ride but she took most of the pictures for me. The traffic was really bad going there as it was spring break in some parts of Texas too, not just for me. There's a picture of Gotham City from our family friend's minivan. There's a picture of me at the front gate. Hey I wanna dance with Mr. Six too! But there was such a long lineup... After lining up for almost and hour and $62.00 later, I got my Flashpass Gold which i'm so glad I got as the flashpass seller was telling me how packed the queues were. Off to the spain section to get my first credit of the day, La Vibrola! I'm losing my Intamin virginity now... Since the swinging ship ride lineup was going by pretty fast, I decided i'd give this one a go. This one doesn't have much Airtime!!! The HUSS Pirates have way more airtime than this one. Especially the one at my local park Playland.... Bad Jess, bad! No standing up on the pirate ship! We passed by Wild E Coyote's Grand Canyon Blaster in the Looney Tunes USA section on the way to Judge Roy Scream but I didn't ride because I'm too tall and there was no other "kid" to ride with me as I'm over 54'... Since there was no Flashpass queue for Judge Roy I had to wait in line like everyone else. The lineup wasn't that bad, about a 30 minute wait that was it. Tribute to Bill Cobb. Overall, Judge Roy Scream wasn't really that good of a coaster. It's not that intense, it's rough, theres not that much airtime except on the first hill. I got slammed around so much from the airtime I bruised my left side abit. Well it wasn't really THAT rough but still, not that good of a ride except the ride attendants were quite funny. Here's flashback. Off the shelf Vekoma Boomerang. This one was apparently quite smooth, didn't hit my head at all. Just enjoying some eats and drinks. I rode Mine Train and Mini Mine Train, loved the theming on Mine Train alot. You can thank Ron Toomer and Dana Morgan for those rides. Haha I look like a giant compared to the kid next to me on Mini Mine train. Off to Gotham City for Batman and Mr Freeze. Glad I had my flashpass for this one as the queue is quite enclosed and the lineups were crazy. When I went on Mr Freeze, I had my credit log book with me and forgot to hand it to my mom before riding. A ride op just told me to tuck it in my hoodie pocket so I did. I was literally holding onto it with one hand going through the top hat inversion both forewards and backwards. Pretty fun ride, but the launch kinda caught me off gaurd as I was too worried about holding down my notebook. Fortunately the forces were keeping it in too. Batman the ride, my first B&M invert. I loved the feeing of the Zero G roll at the end. The whole ride DID feel abit like being in a plane about to crash as described on some article I read awhile ago. Except this one's a plane with no floor beneath your feet. I had abit of trouble getting off the ride though, as I couldn't get the belt off and alot of people were laughing at me fumbling with it. Took me several tries, as I didn't know you had to lift the freaking thing 90 degrees! I think its' one of B&M's contraptions designed to stop curious kids from playing with it and accidently releasing it. Anyone ever struggled with B&M's weird contraptions like that before? Shockwave, time for me to lose my Schwartzkopf virginity. I don't know what was going on, but I noticed that every looping ride I went on so far at this park, I end up like "folding in half" during high G moments. That ever happen to anyone else before? Next up, Runaway Mountain. Good thing I had my flashpass or I would have had a panic attack in that enclosed queue. I loved how the whole ride was in the dark and all that actually. Didn't make me panic at all. Atleast its not stuffy inside the actual ride itself. Texas Giant, the big woodie. It's rough, its rickety, its old. The only picture I have is the on ride photo which I didn't even want to look at the camera for. Not much airtime in this ride except on the first drop really. The headchoppers freaked me out abit though as I had my arms up during that part. Titan, the highlight of the park. The lineup was like over 2 hours long, that's why i'm so glad I have my flashpass. Again the only picture I have of this ride is the on ride photo. The double helix was REALLY something, I started seeing things and my fingers got numb after it. I started noticing a trend now with hypercoasters and Greek mythology names. Behemoth, Golaith, Titan, Apollo's Chariot etc. Whats with that? Unfortunately that grey out really got the best of me. I ended up having to go to first aid as the numbness in my fingers wouldn't go away. They said that I would be ok and it turns out that this time I recovered alot faster than that time on Flight Deck. I had abit of a headache from blood being drained away from the brain but atleast I didn't feel really cold like last time on Flight deck 3 years ago. Still my mom got so mad at me and doesn't want me going on rides like this anymore. But I love them either way so I'm like screw it, I'm going on rides anyways when I go to California's Great America in July. For now, Titan steals my number one coaster spot from Behemoth. On the way home, I decided to take a picture of Judge Roy Scream at night. Rides I had to miss: - Tony Hawk (motion sickness) - Wild E Coyote's Canyon Blaster (no one under 54 to ride with me and lineup too long) - Acme Rock'n'Rocket (loading process took forever) - Superman power tower (didn't have time to do it)
  19. If I had the money, I would. I'd actually like to keep it in my living room so I can act out episodes of TPR or those rollercoaster shows on Discovery Channel. I even thought about building a "coaster car" in my living room out of wood at one time. Never got around to it though.
  20. My first coaster of this season happens out to be La Vibrola at SFOT. Just rode it yesterday.
  21. I'm going to SFOT in 2 days and I just decided that hte first coaster I go on will be Wild E. Coyote's Canyon Blaster!
  22. Thanks for that. I absolutely hate "sardine cans"! I'm likely going to be going on a weekday and from the pictures it doesn't look too claustrophobic. Except the queue looks packed... Airplane washrooms bother me the most more than anything. Adn certain coasters. I'm off to Lone Star State in 2 days and I am stoked as hell. It's going to be fun.
  23. I have an upper ear piercing which might et banged. I've been on an SLC and Corkscrew at Playland with it before and I mostly was getting hit higher up on the side of my head. So I don't think Kong would be a problem. I've never hit it on any coaster before so should be fine. How's the airtime on Roar though? V2?
  24. Is it like completely dark as in you can't see ANYTHING comming? Does anyone know anyone with claustrophobia that rode RM? And does RM use similar trains to Freeze/FoF?
