Finally the coaster enthusiasts are right about Wicked Twister. They've called it year after year since 2003.2 points

OK, time for the beachfront RMC Raptor and GCI twister and Boardwalk Project with an underwater tunnel . I think Wicked Twister's back spike & launch are fun, but the pullouts give me a headache. I'm sure the park notices the low ridership, and with Volcano being removed at KD, I'm not surprised. I'll miss the beachy vibe, fun sunburst colors, and the sand blowing around the queue. The coaster visually framed the Ferris wheel so well that I can't think of a standalone ride that'd be a better fit in that space. I remember an interview with a park exec who talked about wanting to open up views to the beach from inside the park. I think that trees, rides, buildings, etc. actually add character in addition to the beach. I really like that corner of the park, so fingers crossed for good future plans beyond an empty plaza where you can watch fireworks.2 points

^Nothing wrong with either train (aside from being PTCs), but there is not a chance there will be two trains in operation with the staff shortage. Running one train frees up one or two Team Members who can open one or two other rides. It really sad watching the ridership of RFII dip is it can't get any boost from 2-train operation.1 point

Welcome to Kansas City, where you're getting barbecue...no matter what! Glad you went straight to Spinning Dragons and found Cyclone Sam's. Those are the two tricks to WoF. Your assessment of the park is spot on. I agree that it's not neglected, they just don't see any need for giant new additions in such a small market. I like the small new rides every so often and events like the Grand Carnivale (laughable though the food selection might be). One liiiiitle thing, Worlds of Fun is in Missouri, not Kansas. The Kansas state line is about 13 miles southwest of the park, just west of downtown KCMO. The flatness you saw is northern Missouri, and you think that's flat, wait until you actually see Kansas! That swamp is our very own Truman Lake! You went over it twice on Hwy 13 just south of Clinton. Nearly all lakes in Missouri are dammed rivers, and the vegetation makes them great for fishing. Great report! Glad I could help you breeze right on through the shithole that is Western Missouri, and looking forward to the Branson report!1 point

Just tunnel into the quarry wall. Imagine Flinstone like balconies overlooking Pandemonium. There is a field between the lot and the highway.1 point

Well heck boy, ain't that the nicest swoopty dooper this side of the Mississippi!1 point

I don't want them to remove any history, but every ride in it's current location has been moved from another location after Wicked Twister was built. I have no clue what they're going to do, but I do see the ferris wheel being relocated freeing up a ton of potential space. I don't really see the dodgem moving, but who knows, Cedar Point has a way of relocating rides around that park that I've never seen before from another park. I don't see them touching the frontier trail, I think the park is self aware enough to realize it's a necessity to have these calm and shaded areas. The area around Wicked Twister as it is, is not one of these areas as it's essentially surrounded by Gatekeeper anyways and concrete paths. I'm all for a nice proper beach restaurant though! I also wouldn't mind a launch coaster of some sort around that area. Time will tell what happens, Cedar Point has always been one of those parks I'd swear one thing would happen (like demolishing Mean Streak) and then the thing gets the craziest RMC makeover I could of ever imagined. Cedar Point is interesting because it's the only park that I've been to that every employee, visitor, etc is a self proclaimed "Coaster Enthusiast", and I hear everyone complaining about the "GP" obnoxiously by every other person in line... and they don't see the irony which is quite funny if you ask me. It's kind of turned into this weird atmosphere that I haven't experienced anywhere else. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing honestly, but the point is the park knows it's audience well.1 point

just retheme it to "From Dusk Till Dawn". . . maybe it will be more popular?1 point

COVID is surging, mask mandates are coming back, and Lightning Rod is acting like a pile of shit. Looks like things are almost right back where they were a year ago.1 point

So, reading back through the last 15 pages or so of this thread, I realized that I never posted up the absolute F-ton of pictures I took of "The Boat," as I like to call Snake River Expeditions, from my trip to CP back in May. The first two dozen or so are from the queue, and the rest are from the ride itself. Enjoy!1 point

You mean just the slidewheel, or the park as a whole?1 point

One thing is for sure, the four trees that are within 500 feet of Wicked Twister are toast.1 point

I like those rides a lot, and Wicked Twister was the best of them. Hope it finds a home somewhere else (Worlds of Fun maybe??? Please????)1 point

I can't see Cedar Point getting a Free Spin. Isn't like them to plop in a clone. Hopefully this is that possible "boardwalk" type section that was rumored to be coming at some point. Getting rid of Wicked Twister clears a lot of frontage along the beach. I'll miss it a bit, it was one of my favorite "unpopular" rides at CP and could always count on it being a walk on when other coasters had hour + waits. But I'm sure it will be more enjoyed at Michigan's Adventure or wherever it ends up and I know CP will do something good to replace it.1 point

Wicked Twister has lots of dead space. Huge loads of nothing in front of the ride and the old theater that was tore down. Shuffle some rides around. I think we would be surprised what could be crammed in there1 point

To the "I'm not going out of the way for this place" crowd, let me do my good deed for the day and tell you all to go out of your way for this place. It's incredible, the caverns are cool, the views are ridiculous, the drive there is beautiful, they have their own beer that you can drink on a deck looking down a 1000 foot mountain, the swing and mine drop are crazy, everything about it is great. Plus Denver is great and it's Frontier's home base so you can probably fly there for like $40 from anywhere in the country if price is what's holding you back. Every time I see a trip report where someone goes to Lakeside and Elitch Gardens ("BUT it's closing soon!!!!!" ... good, it should hurry up and do that) and doesn't go here because "it's out of the way" a little part of me dies. I don't care if you're in Denver for 12 hours, you should still rent a car and go to Glenwood Caverns and not Elitch Gardens or Lakeside.1 point

This place is f*cking incredible. I'm so happy they're getting this. I love them.1 point

HAHAHAHA. Too much. Here's the whole article. Hey, at least they were truthful when they said "unique and challenging location." Edit: Oh, and the world record? "Western US's steepest freefall drop without a holding brake." Really grasping straws here...1 point

Cool, now all the Cedar Point fanboys can shut their mouths.1 point

I thought the rioting was already happening, based on the number of fights this year.1 point

To be honest, I think skip-the-line passes should be A LOT more expensive than they are now. They should be a premium service, not an alternative line. This way it's a win-win: park gets a significant revenue yet lines are not that affected because there will be fewer people buying them (of course, parks should really limit available units). I hate when parks basically give away those passes. You either make them completely free, like Disney's FP or Europa Park's return time for Voletarium or just don't bother at all.1 point

People can say what they want about Paramount Parks, but there's no way in hell they would have done something this ridiculous!1 point

I know you guys would get a laugh on this one. Someone at Kings Dominion had a bright idea to have 7pm fireworks when the park was closing, but funny thing is.... it was daylight outside.1 point
