Why does it feel like anytime there is even a hint of expansion at any park, enthusiasts bust out the biggest crack pipe they can find and just start slamming back rocks?7 points

"Move" may not be the best way to word it. "Build a new version of it" is a better way to describe it. Think of what Mystic River Falls is to Lost River. More than likely, it would be a completely different ride, but with a similar theme. And putting a Firefighting themed ride in Fireman's Landing makes more sense than having it plopped down in the middle of the city. *edit* sdcfan88 beat me to it4 points

A wood coaster? How about a Beast clone? Or like 30 Beast clones? Pretty sure that would only fill up like 2% of the park.3 points

I've always been quite fond of adding a tower ride like Texas SkyScreamer to the park somewhere between Wildfire and Powder Keg. The views from that would be simply breathtaking. And with the lattice style design of the tower, they could easily give it a mechanical theme and tie it in with Wildfire. They could say that it's one of Dr. Horatio Harris's new inventions or something similar.2 points

The train station was definitely a mess last summer, even on a day with moderately light crowds. Of course things were being handled a bit differently due to covid procedures, but the station was cramped and unorganized and the line extended way out into the midway and up the hill, causing lots of congestion and confusion. All of this to say... I revamped train station would definitely be welcomed.1 point

I'm pushing my plans for this weekend back to the beginning of March since I'm the fortunate position to do so. Not worth going if the parks will close either many rides or overall.1 point

Agreed will Bill and others. I don't think any of them will actually open Monday. And probably a miserable time if they do open.1 point

Push it out, basically every airline has waived change fees for covid. Take advantage of it.1 point

this weekend's forecast: yeah. . pretty much ALL the Texas parks are gonna shut down. I mean, there's still a *chance* it could change? but I doubt it. . . SFOT won't even open with those temps on Monday (Presidents Day, so the parks had planned to open), and Fiesta (if they do open) will close very early, with most rides not operating. oh well. . hopefully Kim can push her visit out a week!1 point

Hey guys! I've been creating some lego models based upon theme park attractions. Mostly UK rides so far, however I'm most proud of my Rise of the Resistance model and wanted to share it with everyone here. I have an etsy shop up where you can purchase the instructions for it as well: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TrackTap Hope you like it!1 point

Congratulations to Grona Lund for putting in the last piece of Monster track. They've come a long way since digging that big hole, and I'm looking forward to riding this coaster.1 point

If this does come to pass it will be a modernization like what was done with Lost River becoming Mystic River Falls. They let the current ride/structure deteriorate to the point where some are saying its beyond saving in its current form where doing what Dollywood did with their younger version (AKA Blazing Fury) which was a retrack and other refurbishments is moot in this case.1 point

One of the theory's out of the speculation and rumor mill about the fate of Fire In The Hole would that it would actually be moved and rebuilt in some fashion over there to tie it into the Fireman's theme already present at Fireman's Landing. That plot of land could fit it when you overlay the structure. Another rumor to go with this is the old train station would then be demo'd and relocated as a larger version in FITH's current plot of land to accommodate the larger park crowds at Christmas.1 point

Another update is here! Trains are coming along, and track is on site! The track looks pretty good, I think the color is fine. I just hope that it doesn't get to dirty or faded after a couple seasons in the north idaho "snow and sun" weather cycle. The trains are more interesting, I think. I'm not familiar with Wonder Woman or Railblazer's trains unfortunately, but they seem to look pretty neat. I'm hoping that the fact that they don't already have vests on them, mean the vests aren't coming (Imagine...a raptor with no vests!). I might be overly optimistic though, so we will probably have to wait and see. Does any one who know if these look like a next generation of train? Or do they look like just longer copies of the ones on Railblazer/Wonder Woman? The only other bits I have is that (thanks to my new friend...Google Maps) I compared the dimensions of the stations for Railblazer and Wonder Woman, with the dimensions in the plans for Stunt Pilot's station. I found that the dimensions are very similar to Railblazer's, just slightly longer (I assume to accommodate the 10 car trains). This leads me to believe that Stunt Pilot will NOT have the moving loading station like Wonder Woman, and instead have the traditional one like Railblazer's. Although this is a slight bummer from the perspective of trying to incentivize Silverwood to improve their dispatch times...it does make sense that the park would go that route. I don't have any offical information to confirm this though, just my speculation. The last bit is the thought of an opening date for Stunt Pilot. I'm honestly was expecting mid to late june at the best, and the fourth of july as the most practical. But...the park seems to think otherwise...unlike a certain other park that's getting an RMC *cough cough* Busch Garden Tampa *cough cough* (Ok, just had to get that out of the system...). They haven't officially announced anything, but they did respond to a facebook question about it saying "We are shooting for opening it before June". A local news article says its supposed to open in early may, potentially on opening day, but I'm not buying that... I think their optimism suggests that it will open by mid to late june at the latest, assuming it isn't delayed. (Which seriously, how can you have a delay for a ride that is being made 15 minutes from the construction site, right?) Anyways...that's all for now folks! We can now officially start counting down to opening day for the park on May 1!1 point

Really looking forward to when a POV is available. This ride is just so... unique for being a tried and true coaster style. Hoping some American parks can learn a lesson here. You're never really "out of space" if you're creative and willing to pay for it.1 point

It was great hanging out with you yesterday! Yeah, anyone on the fence about this event needs to go. Go and support them so they bring it back (just make sure it’s a bit over 42 degrees). We had a great time and I kept having to remind myself that it was February 6th. We weren’t sure we’d be able to fill a day with just 3 operating coasters but honestly, I wish the day were longer. We almost didn’t go this weekend. We just got back from Orlando on Tuesday morning (we got covid tests, chill) and it seemed kind of stupid to drive 7 hours to go to a half-closed park and on the way drive within 50 feet of an indoor park in Jersey that’s six hours closer and (all things considered) much cheaper but we love BGW and it’s pretty unprecedented for a park this far north to totally do away with the off-season so we wanted to be a part of it and support it. After going there though, I feel like it was well worth it. It didn’t feel like a weekend at a half-closed BGW, it just felt like a weekend at BGW. Alpengeist and Verbolten are great, InvadR and the swing are a blast and in general I just love the vibe of the park and their insane alcohol selection. Also, they didn’t half-ass this Mardi Gras event at all. I’m pretty impressed with how quickly they turned around the last event and got ready for this one. Hopefully they bring this back. I feel like it will only get better once they can run more indoor entertainment and run the indoor ride.1 point

KD still has to figure out what ride they're going to remove before installing the free spin. They've decided to go toe to toe with Six Flags in 2021, but only in the ride removal category. Luckily, they've been practicing.1 point

I think the thing to remember is that this year has taught them how to make money with an incredibly low amount of guests based on adjusting staffing, closing a lot of things and driving up in-park-spending. They operated all summer with a guest cap of 1,000 and made money doing it and based on the ride lineup this seems to be similar in scale. I expect this to succeed and I expect it to send shockwaves through the industry just like the Christmas events have. If they make money with this then I feel like it's only a matter of time before parks like Sesame Place (which I guess is the only seasonal park left in the chain) and parks in the Six Flags chain try it too.1 point

Before this thread derails off course into a COVID discussion, I’ll just keep it simple: everyone should follow their state and local guidelines. This isn’t something up for debate on TPR. Now back to your regularly scheduled BGW discussion.1 point

Knoebels is absolutely one of my favorite places to visit. And it would take a lot for me to be steered away from returning (ie- ripping down Phoenix, and Twister, replacing the bumper cars with standard ones, and getting rid of all the tasty treats). I think it is an interesting thing to look at and dissect, is all. I am really a numbers guy. There's no doubt that the value of parents being able to go in and ride just a few rides is immense and can offer huge savings over most parks that require an admission. The main reason for bringing them up is moreso to just point out that I *think* the ride increases are occurring at a faster rate than in the parks history. And so, if they get to a good level (like where they are now) and they begin to slow down again, I think that would be a okay. But ifi in a few years, the Flyers are at $3.25, Phoenix is at $4, and the kiddie rides are alll $2-2.50, that's a pretty quick progression and a slippery slope. I enjoy paying with the tickets for whatever reason (always at Weiss) and it allows us the opportunity to spread our fun out over two days and ride a bit less each day and save a few $$ over buying two all day wristbands. I did this just now out of morbid curiosity and figured I would at least add it here so my work wasn't for only me. (Prices 2001, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 via Wayback Machine); Inflation is $1 in 2001 = $1.47 today. Phoenix: $1.50 $2, $2, $2.50, $3, $3 Flyers: $0.80, $1, $1.20, $1.50, $1.75, $2.50 Carousel: $0.70 $0.80 $0.90, $1, $1.50, $1.75 Red Baron: $0.60, $0.70 $0.80, $1, $1.25, $1.50 Adult Wristband w/ Coasters: (not available), $31, $37, $39.50, $47, $50 Is it still super affordable and far cheaper by the ride than most other parks? Absolutely. Does that detract from the fact that I doubt rides saw these % increases in the previous two decades? E.G. were the Flyers like 25 cents in 1980? Hope someone besides me at least found the above mildly interesting!1 point

Here's just hoping that it's more "Megalite / Expedition G-Force" quality and not so much "Hyperion" quality.0 points
