SharkTums
I know a few of you are aware, but for everyone else I want to make sure you know that Diablo Cody is a member here at TPR with quite a few posts! She wrote the amazing movie 'Juno' which is also up for Best Picture! I'm sure she's crazy busy right now, but hopefully she'll have time to check in on us from time to time now that she's super famous! Here are the categories she'll be watching especially closely February 24th. Best Picture "Atonement" "Juno" "Michael Clayton" "No Country for Old Men" "There Will Be Blood" Actress Cate Blanchett, "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" Julie Christie, "Away From Her" Marion Cotillard, "La Vie en Rose" Laura Linney, "The Savages" Ellen Page, "Juno" Director Julian Schnabel, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" Jason Reitman, "Juno" Tony Gilroy, "Michael Clayton" Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, "No Country for Old Men" Paul Thomas Anderson, "There Will Be Blood" And of course... Original Screenplay Diablo Cody, "Juno" Nancy Oliver, "Lars and the Real Girl" Tony Gilroy, "Michael Clayton" Brad Bird, Jan Pinkava and Jim Capobianco, "Ratatouille" Tamara Jenkins, "The Savages." So post a lot of nice things and I'll send this over to her!
ebl
Does she post under her own name or does she have a "screen name?" Eric
TheRapidsNerd
That's some welcome good news on a rough day. Didn't even know DCody did any of that stuff. Very happy for her. Will keep good thoughts.

ernierocker
She definitely deserves to win. Congrats! I am glad to see the movie nominated multiple times. I thought every aspect of it was top-notch, including the screenplay.
Broadwayboy2007
Cody already won the Critics Choice for Juno's screenplay so maybe that will help her with the Academy. But as a theatre person, I have to ask....WTF at Sweeney Todd not being nominated for Best Picture when it won it at the Golden Globes. Also, to the person who started this thread...Tim Burton was also nominated for best director for Sweeney Todd

BeemerBoy
Awesome news! I just watched the Letterman interview, and she's a pretty cool chick. I'd cast a vote for Juno if I could. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIH13_KUlaI

gnewton34
Congratulations! That's very cool. I read the nominations today and decided I was totally pulling for Juno and Ellen Page, then I read this. RCFreak
I finally got to see Juno the other day and it was a really well executed movie with a lot of witty and funny dialogue. Awesome job on the script and if the Dave Letterman interview is any indication, you should come to a TPR party lol. Keep up the great work on writing great stuff and now I need to go find a copy of that book.
Wes
The scene where Juno tells her parents she's pregnant is wonderful, I just want to thank you for avoiding the obvious and stupid cliché of making Juno's parents dumb and/or mean. There's not enough teen centered films where the parents aren't one note asshats.
Sunfire
I've heard good things about this movie, but now I'd love to go out and see for myself. I'll be rooting for you DCody!
TheRapidsNerd
Ok, this has just been the wierdest day. Let's review: 1. Comes home to flat rent increase. bad. 2. A favorite actor dies. bad. 3. Gets good news on some future project work. good. 4. Wakes up from freakish intense nightmare. bad. 5. Finds out one of the first people he met on TPR, who not only likes parks, but likes photography and old abandoned parks, is a smoking hot, highly witty punk chic, who's written not only a best selling book in Dave Letterman's book club, was on his show, AND is up for awards for a screenplay she wrote. AWESOME! 6. She's married. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Still and all, damn she's hot, but I am spoken for, and the girlfriend would kill me. Wow. Just.....wow. thunder001
Good luck, needed some good news after hearing about the death of Heath Ledger, another good aussie leaves us all too soon. Now if I can only find a baby sitter the boss and I can go to watch Juno while it is still at the flicks.
pagemaster_b
Congrats and Good Luck. Needless to say, I am jealous. (Note to self: FINISH WHAT YOU START WRITING!!!) Honestly, despite all the good things I've heard about the movie, it really hasn't pisqued my interest. Looks like I need to reconsider waiting for the DVD release. Nrthwnd
Congratulations on the film's nominations, including your screenplay nom. "Juno" is wonderful - we saw it just after Christmas - and it's great that the Academy really appears to be seeking out good films like this, to honor. Go - Juno - Go!
