Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind that Voyage was only 8.5 million

They also spent more money on their water coaster, Mammoth. I think the park knows what type of money they're going to have to spend to build a steel coaster. You have to remember that you can't put a price on what a steel coaster might do for Holiday World in terms of publicity and marketability. The Voyage has brought them a lot of attention and still does. If this is indeed a steel coaster, I think it will set a record. My guess is it will probably break the record for most launches on a single coaster. Who knows, they might go for the most seconds of airtime on a steel coaster. Something that brings a lot of attention and publicity to the park. It's probably still too early to speculate, but who cares? It's fun!

^ Any old-timers here remember our Y2K quest for coaster-enthusiast input? It was long ago ... we ended up with 200 emails and letters (one was 16 pages long and hand-written, as I recall). Will Koch read every last one and discussed with CCI. So if you don't like The Legend, you have only yourselves to blame!

I remember Legend is still my favorite in the park. The variety built into the design in some of the best. I just didn't get my pre-lift section (not a complaint).

I said it before in the thread, but I think that if the park were to build a steel coaster, it wouldn't be some huge hypercoaster at first. I could very much see a Eurofighter or Sky Rocket like coaster because it appeals more to families and takes up a smaller space. If it is successful (which it should be) then the park could expand and build a larger one.

Haha, well said! I've heard my fair share of love and "complaints" about the coaster, but it was my favorite coaster when I first went to Holiday World, and is still one of my favorite roller coasters!

It's one thing to speculate on plausible additions, but the types of rides that y'all are suggesting are on par with some things said in the Darien Lake thread. Like really insane stuff.

Honestly, I share your irritation for people always immediately speculating big on things they're not totally sure of (not just for Holiday World, but everywhere ). It's fun to do so, sure, but you can't always fill-up pages with people pin-pointing where every park might throw in, say, a B&M wing rider as a family-owned park's first-ever major steel coaster. Having said that, I'm all for speculating on an HW-customized RMC (especially since it'll fit in with the 48" height requirement most major rides in the park have).

Well I am going to try and make it to Holiday World on Saturday. Never been there which sucks being so close, I live in Indy. I have heard great things about the park but was always hesitant as I am not a water park fan and there are only 3 coasters there I can ride.

That being said, The Voyage keeps coming up. I am not a HUGE wooden coaster fan but my experience is pretty limited. The Beast, Racer, Blue Streak, Mean Streak are about it. It's kinda a given that I give this park a chance and see what they have to offer.

Anyone else going on Saturday? Wanna meet up? Just throwing it out there. Kinda fun to going to a new park that I have never been to and riding coasters that I have never even seen in person.

Do yourself a favor and ride Wildebeest and Mammoth. Those are two (water) coasters everyone should experience. Real airtime on Wildebeest. Splashin' Safari won't be open this Saturday, but maybe you can get to them next time!

Hope you have a great first trip to Holiday World. Don't miss the green beans!

I have a hunch that it might be Time Machine from Hard Rock Park... It's a full size B&M with a nice discount.

I thought it was already established the coaster was sold to a park in China?

I think if it was coming to China, I would know about it since I'm currently studying Chinese in China. Maybe Yin knows. Yin? Heard of Time Machine coming to China?
