CoasterMateo Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Can't wait for this coaster! The lift hill looks amazing. Just imagine how the fins are going to look on that lift
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 This photo is simply amazing!!! That launch hill is MUCH larger than I was expecting. I can not wait to see this coaster complete!!
coasterfreak101 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 ^Not just larger, but steeper than I expected too! Next year's Holiday World/Dollywood/Kentucky Kingdom road trip is shaping up to be seriously awesome.
lhgolfr Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 For even more scale of the launch hill picture that I took and posted yesterday, if you look closely just above the water tank at the shadow line, you can see a construction worker standing on the ground beside of the track.
DJeXeL Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Looking good! Love that none of the ride can be seen from inside the park. This has the same mystery that The Beast has where you don't know what lies beyond the top of the lift. Hopefully that makes sense to someone.....
SFOGdude25 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 ^I got it! But remember we've got the quadruple down coming down the hill into the huge "non-inverting half loop" in plain sight too, which is basically a 180 degree spiral turn into a steep drop into the brakes, a bit of a FullThrottle-esque ending if you ask me. This thing is gonna charge hard right into the brakes. It's gonna be sick!

This thing is gonna charge hard right into the brakes. It's gonna be sick! You're right, but the drop will be complete instead of braking during it. That drop is also coming after 3500' of track before it, so it will feel like a complete layout that never loses steam. Kinda like if Storm Runner were longer!
parkjunkie Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Just got back from Dollywood and Lightning Rod looks amazing. I knew this thing was big, but this lift hill really gives you an idea of its size... weird part is, after seeing the size of this lift hill, launched at that, you'd expect it to be a much longer ride than 3800 ft. Oh well, not complaining at all... can't wait to ride this masterpiece.
WildEagle2014 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The track has finally been topped off! Footers are all in place in the valley where the old park sign shop used to sit. It's hard to tell...but track has been laid to the bottom of the first predrop!
DILinator Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm definitely glad that we dropped a trip to KI on our family vacation next year in favor of a second day at Dollywood! I simply cannot wait for my first trip out to this park, and specifically a ride on this glorious coaster!
thedlr Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 That launch looks so bad ass. Umm... were those photos taken with a disposable camera? Haha just messing with you. I'll take whatever I can get!
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Omg... It's so big. Can't wait to ride this coaster. It is looking better and better with each new photo! (p.s. - Thanks for the photos!) (p.p.s. - I really want to know whats going on at the top of the launch hill with those weird supports!)
shadox17 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Some more photos here: This is looking insane!
_koppen Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I just can't get over how crazy brilliant this ride looks
chickenbowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 This image from "BPARCS" facebook page is amazing! It shows what it's looking like at around the base of the first drop, they really haven't removed that many trees. I cannot wait to see track get placed for the drop and other elements!
BuffaloWingRider Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 This looks to be the best wooden roller coaster in existence, and it's off to a great start! Maybe I can ride it someday...
RyanTPM Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Really like the look of that, it's going to be quite some drop!
Dollywoodlover20 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I was so afraid trees were going to be removed during that section of the ride and it was going to be open but now I'm really loving the hidden near miss look that the trees provide. At high speeds zooming through the trees will in its self be thrilling.
Guy T. Koepp Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 This monster is gonna be insane in the daytime. I can't imagine how balls to the wall crazy it will be after the sun sets. You won't be able to see a thing back there in the woods. It will have the same feel as the Beast. Only actually good.
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 This monster is gonna be insane in the daytime. I can't imagine how balls to the wall crazy it will be after the sun sets. You won't be able to see a thing back there in the woods. It will have the same feel as the Beast. Only actually good. If it's anything like Outlaw Run is at night time, then we are in for a treat!! Outlaw Run is INSANE at night time!! I can only imagine how much better this coaster is going to be! Ohhh how I can't wait for my first ride!!! Also... I really can't wait for a POV of this coaster.
Guy T. Koepp Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I already found some POV of Lightning Rod in the dark.
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I already found some POV of Lightning Rod in the dark. The only difference is that Lightning Rod will NEVER BE that quiet.
bkwjjm Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I already found some POV of Lightning Rod in the dark. LOL! I thought the video wouldn't load.....then I realized the joke.
