robbalvey Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 The Winners have been annoucned: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26885 Hey everyone!!! It's that time! Cast your vote for you favorite videos: http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2006/ballot2006.htm And if you haven't seen all the video entries yet, click here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2006/contest2006.htm This year the competition is a little tougher. We received more entries than ever before and I'll be honest, we were a little 'harder' with judging this time around. With the addition of the Professional Amateur Videographer forum there have been a LOT of great videos posted and we felt that ONLY the 'cream of the crop' deserved to be in the final running. Out of nearly 100 videos we narrowed it down to 25 finalists. Starting today we will be posting 5 videos a week for the next 5 weeks. And for the first time ever you can now STREAM the contest entries! So what are you waiting for? Go watch the videos!!! And then come back here to discuss them! http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2006/contest2006.htm --Robb
jarmor Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Just curious but whats the reasoning for sending up to 3 videos...so the person can have a greater chance of getting a submission in or will you guys ever have more than one submission per person in the final run down?
Guy T. Koepp Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Good luck everybody! I'm looking forward to seeing what this years crop will offer. Guy "I love to see other peoples work. It inspires me." Koepp
Luxo Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Yay! I already have my three ready, I'll try to buy some DV tapes so I can send it this weekend! Good luck to all the entrants!
Corkscrewed Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Still sticking with the three max, eh? Well, I have three done, but I've been planning on another one, so if that's the case, I'll have to kick one out, and it'll be interesting figuring out which one should be cut. April 1st... that'll come up sooner than later! Hopefully, I can get this other one done!
TheStig Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Horray! I get to finially enter the video contest! I have one done right now, one in progress, and one in mind. So hopefully I can get them done! Colin C

Hattuchili Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Ohh, that sounds great! I hope I have a bit time to work on one or two videos for the contest! --Sören
Nrthwnd Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 All vids due by April Fools Day, huh? Sounds like a good vid 'theme' in there, somewhere... Good luck to all - and to all, woo hoo!
M_Force_4_ever Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I will be sending in my 3 videos very soon, good luck to everybody!
Gnome Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 can I submit a video that would also show up on another website (ie WWS.com)? Or does does it soley have to be on this website?
robbalvey Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 can I submit a video that would also show up on another website (ie WWS.com)? Or does does it soley have to be on this website? You are more than welcome to submit videos that have been or will be on other sites. In fact, it's also a good way to help promote a video or a site if you want. One of the goals for the contest has always been to create a way for people to show off and share their work, even if it's featured on other sites. It's more about sharing than it is about winning, but winning is a fun part of it too! --Robb
socalMAN123 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Haha, this should be good. I love seeing other TPR members work. The reasons I don't do this are: 1. I don't have a camera 2. I don't have experience with editing 3. I don't have experience with shooting footage ---Brent
DegoRed Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I know you'll all be devastated to read this , but I will not be submitting a entry this year. I know in the past my videos did rather well, but I haven't had the desire to film at any of the local parks out here recently, and the other footage I have is a few years old now, but I would like to help judge the entries if you'd like some extra help Robb
robbalvey Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Just a side note..... Please, if you are considering entering the contest.... READ THE RULES!!!! http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2006/contest2006.htm Please be sure to read the ENTIRE page as I've had a lot of questions that have already been answered on that page. Thanks! --Robb
TheStig Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 So who's ready for stupid question?!?! Okay, is it alright if I submit all my videos on a DV tape that already has some footage on it, and if I set the tape to the section where my videos start, would that be okay? I mean, it'll be at the end of the tape where nothing would be there to mess it up or anything, but I dont really want to buy a brand new tape and just send it to you guys (Now I know how you get all your mini DV tapes!). If not, Ill dig deep and buy a tape for the contest, just though I should ask... Colin C
robbalvey Posted March 2, 2006 Author Posted March 2, 2006 ^ Yes that will be fine. I am going to let everyone in on a little secret for buying Mini DV tapes: http://www.tapestockonline.com/pan60minmin.html I buy all of ours from this place and I usually buy 50 at a time so I never pay more than about $2.50 per tape. It just kills me to see the same damn tapes at Best Buy for $7 each. --Robb
BarryH Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Dang, those prices are better than my Sony employee discount!
