USCoaster Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Awesome video. I have managed an insane ride on the strawberry version of this at the local fair. Other memorable rides were an insane Wisdom Tornado (they must have just oiled it or something cause it was very easy to spin) and one great ride on the monkey pot ride at SFMW when the ride-op informed the riders that the last pot spinning got a second ride. (Last time I rode the one at SFMW, I couldn't make it go as fast.) And I had a ride on the Hat Dance at Knotts that left us sitting there for a minute or so before we could stand up.
Twister II Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Aw, Im sooooo surprised that Elissa didn't go on it! After all, those are like her favorite rides....
benzo41190 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 That is funny. The key of getting it fast is you have to turn it the same direction as the arms. Then you jerk it the other way as hard as you can so the car thing is spinning the opposite way of the arm. We have gotten those things so fast that we were like stuck to the inside wall and we couldnt even turn the wheel.
Shockwave Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Haha! That was a seriously fast spin! I hope TPR can do a few of the teacup rides on the UK trip now!
DerekRx Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 ^Consider it done, Tom! The only reasons I didn't partake in the dynamic duo's spin-a-thon was because I: 1. didn't want to send us into a time vortex and 2. I didn't want to pay to ride this. But in the UK nothing will stop me. We're taking these things to the eXtreme!!! (and I don't mean the 4th dimension/Valencia, CA) It was quite an enjoyment to watch them in person though!
Carnage Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Hopefully we can get some teacups spinning as fast as this one: Link
Nrthwnd Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Hmmmm. Dragons. Bears. Strawberries. Any other obvioulsy hideously transformed incarnations of ..... that this ride takes on? I would rather do teacups a la Disney, than this thing. Then again, it's TPR in June... We'll see.
dougr Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Hmmmm. Dragons. Bears. Strawberries. Any other obvioulsy hideously transformed incarnations of ..... that this ride takes on? I would rather do teacups a la Disney, than this thing. Then again, it's TPR in June... We'll see. I've seen the monkeys at the PNE...
Angry_Gumball Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I've seen these in the form of some really fat bears...every year, the carnival comes to the local mall and has one of these. I bet that Robb didn't crawl out of the ride like my friend did on the tea cup ride after being outspun. The tea cup ride my friend crawled out on would have put this video to shame but I find it hilarious that you see something spinning that fast on a kiddy ride.
Nrthwnd Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Found one. Kinda smallish. But still.... Strawberries. Now - who's going to find the Bears? ..... (...And I just remembered a rumored beehive version of... ???) (EDIT: And I just remembered dougr's monkeys, and as well - apples!) Well they ARE supposed to be small, right?
TheGreatOne Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 http://www.whirlin.com/spin.html Here are all the themes those family spin rides come in. -Bryan "Bring on Chilly Willy" Wood
Nrthwnd Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Actually, with a LOT of vines and general green-themeing, this would be perfect for Holiday Worlds new section.... and call it... Pumpkin Piel-Up. Hmmm? Now somebody with an 'in' to Holiday World, go and suggest this, lol. Would be great for a child's enjoyment while waiting for mom or dad on Voyage. And perfect tie-in, yes? Now, heres the whole "patch," waiting for that greenery, vines and themeing Holiday World does great! (o: Here we have a freshly picked one...
socalMAN123 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 HOLY CRAP THAT WAS HILARIOUS! Reminds me of those fair rides at the OC Fair. Spin N' Spew = The Most Fun Anyone Can Have ---Brent
coasterguy618 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Great video. At Seaside Heights, NJ I went on one of those. I just ate a burger before and i puked all over my friend. It was pretty funny. HE was lke crying.
BrownStreak Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Back during her original burst of fame, there were some of those rides themed to Strawberry Shortcake. Which brings me to this question: Any one else but me notice that Plum Puddin used to be a boy and now is a girl?!
Rider117 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 There installing one of those at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights ,NJ this year.
coaster_type_of_person Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Elissa has the sexiest laugh ever. And that was the funniest video yet. Well it's tied with Manhattan Express. I've been on that type of ride at my church fair. And NO you didn't sit in Jesus' lap. They were strawberries.
Nrthwnd Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Elissa has the sexiest laugh ever. "And another one bites the dust...."
robbalvey Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I just watched this video again while I'm doing the Timber Falls photo captions and I just still can't believe it!!!
Angry_Gumball Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 The carnival's in town a few minutes away from my college. I couldn't quite tell if the bears were there or not but I spotted a credit: a 10-foot wild mouse coaster.
ECZenith Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Ah yes, the Bear Affair comes to my hometown every July. I will never ride it again, at least with my friends who can't handle their liquor. That + Beer + Idiot Friends = Disaster
QuakerOaties Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Robb, be sure to post a video of the tea cups at Harmonyland when you're going through Japan footage. Mark "I will never forget that experience"
